  1. Couldn't it a be remnant of code from some military product that ED has/is developed/developing?
  2. I know you have your hands full. I apologize :)
  3. You must have killed their squad leader :D
  4. Totally understood. We're not going anywhere (I think :D)
  5. AFAIK .50 cal rounds back than (could) have an incendiary element. Probably zirconium powder in the base of the projo. That'll cause a flash on impact. Rounds like the 30mm API are pyrophoric, meaning that when the DU gets super heated on impact it acts like an incendiary element (basically what Sobek said). A more standard AP round, like those that would have been belted on the P-51 in WWII would be a hardened steel(?) penetrator with a milid jacket. They probably wouldn't spark without an incendiary element unless they hit hardened armor Edit: Incendiary rounds of p-51 vintage probably didn't use zirconium, and whatever incendiary element was used wouldn't have been in the base of the projo but rather the tip
  6. Hits :D
  7. There was one effect for almost everything! The explosion from a CBU-97 skeet was the same effect as the maverick one. Kinetic energy vs. up to 300 pounds of explosives, same effect... What! ...I will say that I liked the way the new explosion looked... we just need some realistic variance. I still can't believe how pathetic the explosion looks from a 2000 pound bomb
  8. Modern .50" cal rounds can have some HE content (I don't think they did back in WWII). But it's minuscule in comparison to what a 30x173MM gau-8 HE round can carry. Speaking from experience, modern .50" call rounds appear to flash (not every type) when they impact a hard target and they do kick up significant debris. Just not nearly as much as we are seeing in this new build. Right now they kick up smoke and dirt bigger than the trees in the sim!
  9. Not sure if this is related... Ran the sim a few times last night and found that a lot of my joystick, TM Warthog, controls were not responding (I confirmed that they were assigned and would respond in the options menu). Quit DCS world and restarted and the problem wen't away. Ran it again a bit later and the problem was back Deleted saved games folder when I installed
  10. Just can't make us happy. Expected by the moderators no doubt :D ...Can't believe that such a minuscule increase (I'm so tempted to call it a decrease) in eye candy results in such poor performance. What I really don't understand is EDs reasoning for replacing certain effects. To me the only really goofy effects were the iron bombs and CBU 97. At least the 97s look really cool now
  11. And of course a .50cal won't create a fireball the size of a car and a plume of smoke bigger than a tree...
  12. Same here, quite lame. Almost looks like a RAM issue, but I have plenty and have never had issues before
  13. It's almost like they got it backwards, the tracers should appear to "streak" trough the air from the barrel to impact... after they ricochet they slowdown and look more orb like.
  14. Same. aero interface on or off, problem persists
  15. That's the result of military spending cutbacks in Russia... They started outsourcing there symbology work to peasants from the mountains :D ...Most definitely a bug I'd say
  16. Here's to hoping that ED isn't done tweaking the .50cal tracers and impacts... I appreciate that they're working on the eye candy but I was hoping they'd make things look better/more realistic not the other way around. The tracers look like glowing orbs and the ground impacts/flashes are about the same as the new 30MM effects from the GAU-8... Definitely not right
  17. Confirmed, although it seems a bit more subtle for me (HDR is set to off for the time being...)
  18. Very cool, Thanks! ...Must go home lol
  19. A great feature! ...Can't help but noting that, for me, p-51 might be the only module that rarely requires a manual check in flight :D
  20. Any new effects? Do 500 and 2000 pound bombs still generate the same effect? Do CBU-97s, 87s, pretty much every rocket and missile still use the same explosion effect?
  21. Ohhh...Tell me more! :D
  22. Okay cool. Sorry for what might be a silly question: Is there a way to check how many activations I have before I go uninstalling the old version?
  23. So if I used my last activation on the last version of DCS world I won't be able to install this new version? Or I wait a month and a new one is provided?
