  1. Hi @Mike_CK Sorry your wingman is not talking to you. The guy talking to you and giving some comments on your flight skills is Jester the WSO Regarding the map, you can be sure there will be sth for Germany in future too …
  2. Hey @Jack Chief, thank you for your Feedback. You are right, my campaign is definitely less hardcore Sim, but that was the whole idea of it. But now to the important stuff, crash Mission 3? My last test about a week ago before release was good, so no idea what is happening. And that described moment nothing really special is happening. You do not have a dcs.log of the crash? And it just crashed to desktop? No error message or sth?
  3. Yeah should be available now, no idea why it was not available first.
  4. Northern Defenders – Phantoms Rising | Introduction & FAQ Welcome to the Introduction & FAQ for my new DCS World campaign featuring the iconic F-4E Phantom II. This post provides an overview of what to expect, how the campaign is designed, and answers to frequently asked questions. Campaign Trailer: First Look Video: What is "Northern Defenders – Phantoms Rising"? It’s a story-driven single-player campaign set in a fictional Cold War gone hot scenario in 1985. After suffering heavy losses in the first month of the war, NATO forces are regrouping in Scandinavia. You play as a German Luftwaffe pilot tasked with holding the line and pushing back the Soviet advance into Finland, Sweden, and Norway. What kind of missions can I expect? The campaign offers a wide range of mission types with changing objectives to keep gameplay diverse. Expect Cold War–era mission profiles including: Combat Air Patrol (CAP) Close Air Support (CAS) Armed Reconnaissance Strike Missions Escort Flights Each mission is handcrafted and offers unique challenges. How realistic is the campaign? While the campaign includes realistic elements—such as radio procedures for takeoff, landing, and AI coordination—it is not a strict simulation of historical Luftwaffe operations. To support gameplay variety, you will fly a range of missions, including some that wouldn’t normally fall under a fighter-bomber pilot’s role, like CAP. The goal is to combine immersive atmosphere with engaging and flexible mission design. Is the campaign voice-acted? Yes. The campaign features fully voiced radio traffic and custom voice acting to bring each mission to life and enhance immersion. How many missions are included? The campaign includes 13 handcrafted missions, each with illustrated and narrated briefings, custom briefings pages, and cutscenes that support the story arc. Is this a historical campaign? No. It is set in an alternate 1985 timeline and presents a fictionalized conflict based on real-world Cold War dynamics. While fictional, it strives to maintain a sense of authenticity in tactics, mission flow, and political tone. Is the campaign beginner-friendly? Some familiarity with the F-4E Phantom II is recommended. That said, the campaign is designed to be accessible, with clear briefings, kneeboards, and in-mission guidance. Most missions follow a classic structure: receive your tasking, proceed to the area of operations, and return safely. However, difficulty comes from operational challenges such as: Locating targets using mission clues (e.g. waypoint marks) Engaging superior enemy aircraft while limited to AIM-9 missiles, as was standard for German F-4s during this period Will the campaign receive updates or bugfixes after release? Yes. While each mission has been tested thoroughly, I’m working with a small test group, so minor issues may still appear. Player feedback is very welcome and updates will be provided as needed. Can I fly this campaign in co-op? At this point, the campaign is designed for single-player only. While co-op was considered in the early planning phase, DCS’s current limitations with campaign logic, cockpit triggers, and AI comms made it difficult to implement reliably. Standalone co-op versions of selected missions may be released in the future. Is there custom music or audio? Yes. The campaign includes original music tracks, ambient sound design, and a fictional 1985-style radio channel with news and music that plays during long flights and holding patterns. Do I need to perform air-to-air refueling to complete a mission? In nearly all missions, a tanker is available as an optional support. While some missions might encourage the use of air-to-air refueling, [u]every mission can be completed without it, as long as you manage your fuel carefully. How long does a mission usually take? Mission length varies between approximately 40 to 90. For those who don’t feel like flying all the way home, you can exit the mission after completing your main task—though this will result in a lower mission score. You’ll also miss out on some sarcastic post-mission chatter and a stylish 80s radio channel on the way back. What if I keep getting shot down? It might be time to rethink your tactics. In most missions, Jester will offer useful hints to help you complete your objective. Additionally, there's a “Cheat Menu” available through the radio menu: You can enable immortal mode) or activate helper smoke markers to highlight ground targets in certain missions. Have more questions? Feel free to post them in this thread. I’ll do my best to keep this FAQ updated. A few final words This is my second campaign release—and my first one featuring a fixed-wing aircraft. It took a lot of time, learning, and late nights to bring this project to life, and I’m proud to finally share it with you. I sincerely hope you enjoy flying Northern Defenders – Phantoms Rising. It’s part of a larger alternate Cold War narrative I’d love to expand further—possibly with other modules from the same era, both in Scandinavia and the new cold war germany map. Telling the story of one big conflict from many different pilot perspectives. Thank you for taking the time to check it out. I’m very much looking forward to your feedback—hopefully merciful, but always appreciated. – Cyking

  5. Sadly not. In my first concept I planned to make the campaign playable in coop too, but sadly it did not work out well so I decided to go the classic way. Especially Radio Transmissions and triggers which work with cockpit parameters do not work well in multiplayer so the whole approach of creating the mission is different. I am still thinking to add some addional coop versions later. But right now it is just Single Player.
  6. As far as I am aware you cannot read out the cockpit parameters with a lua script, but maybe I am wrong. So you need to setup the condition check in the ME. In the "Action" you can put a do script for messages or sth else.
  7. DCC 2.9.16.10973.1 - 03.06.2025 With today's DCS patch, the following changes and upates are now live: Mission 02 - "The Ferry Flight" - Fixed ADF for Almirante Lynch.
  8. You can use several conditions in the Mission Editor to check the position of switches or settings within the cockpit. e.g. X: COCKPIT ARGUMENT IN RANGE or X: COCKPIT PARAM EQUAL TO / IN RANGE Example below checks if the Master Arm Switch is turned on in the F-4.
  9. @mdtenor22001 I just tested it and can confirm that the ADF did not work. I'm not entirely sure why, but it seems the action to play the ADF sound no longer has a linked sound file (see screenshot below). As a result, the ADF script doesn't work. I've fixed and tested it. I’ll send an update to ED for a patch.
  10. I will take a look again, I am pretty sure I adjusted the ADF Frequency in Briefing and Mission to not interfear anymore with anotherone on the map. I will have another look.
  11. Hi @guitarxe Yes I updated all the missions to the latest Syria Update!
  12. Thank you very much for your feedback. I am really happy to hear that you enjoyed the campaign and had a good time, especially that everything worked smoothly without any issues like broken triggers. As a mission designer, there's nothing more I could wish for! I'm sorry, but no — the additional mission after the credits was just a bonus I added after the campaign’s release, simply because I still had that scenario in my head. So, it's more like a prologue to the campaign or an introduction to the conflict, how everyting started. But a new project is already on its way, and some annoucements will be made soon.
  13. Hey @GomesPT thank you very much for your feedback. I am happy to hear you enjoy it so far, but be careful there a still a couple of mission to go for you. Especially if you are at number 4 right now, I think for many people this is kind of the pain in the a.. mission. I am currently in the final stage of my second project, but more Info of that will follow in the next couple of weeks. After that I will finish a complete rework of the Peacekeeper Lebanon campaign, with more precise triggers and a Voice Over overhall. Fly safe and I hope you enjoy the remaining missions.
  14. Good topic, here some more additions, maybe you can add them to your list. SA3 - West of Parchim Airfield - PE72 - N 53 26.675 E 11 39.872 SA3 - North East of Wismar, coastline - PF70 - N 54 07.917 E 11 40.369 SA3 - West of Rostock, coastline - PF90 - N 54 10.164 E 11 59.099 @Essah not sure if this is the one you mention with west of Rostock PF00, not sure if that is a mistake but there is nothing for me at PF00. SA3 - Rügen Island, North - UA85 - N 54 39.254 E 13 15.118
  15. Hey @MadKreator, thank you for your feedback and happy you enjoy it. Ah yes my lovely containers. I still having a struggle with that, I already created an alternative Version of the Mission on my end using a different kind of ship ,the Atlantic Conveyor, with kind of a helipad. But it feels to easy to land there. I want to have it more kind of a challange. I think I still need to refine the hover triggers. New VO's are already in the work, but currently my main focus is on polishing a new project. After that the Peacekeeper Lebanon Campaign gets some more attention again. But I think the later Missions already have better VO's in my Opinion, especially in the first 4 ones I used a different modulation and recording. But ... it works.
  16. Hi, I am using the picture to ... quite often and it works fine for me. Just tested it a minute ago. 1. You can use the "picture clear" trigger action to clear out all pictures shown at the moment the picture clear is triggered. 2. The "clear view" checkbox will clear the view, if there is an other picture shown before the one you trigger right now. 3. Not aware about any docu.
  17. Hey @ThrottleHold, Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. That really helps to improve the campaign with upcoming patches. Regarding the Voice Overs I am already reworking them right now. Using a new software, having a new microphone and less distortion. I hope this will increase the general experience. Also thank you for the detailed error list, I am already on it. I really enjoyed watching some of your gameplay video, nice to watch and nice flying!
  18. Hey thank you for feedback, I will take a look again.
  19. Hey @hannibal, You can not use a different module e.g. gazelle as a wingman in the same group the player is flying e. g. a huey. If you want to have a wingman flying a differnt module you need to setup the wingman in a new group. This new group you need to give specific orders, like following the player in formation to the target area. In the target area you need to give him new orders, like attacking specific targets. You can also triggers these using F10 Radio Commands initiated by the player, e.g. if he needs fire support. So in theory it works well. But the DCS AI can be sometimes a bit tricky and having its own mind. It takes a lot of testing and patience to get this to work. I did something similar in 2 missions of my latest campaign.
  20. I had a similar case these days while doing some BFM Training. I was not able to exit. The nose refuse to go down. Not input where taken. F-16_bfm_stall.mp4
  21. DCS 2.9.12.5336 - 20.01.2025 With today’s DCS patch, the following changes and updates are now live: Mission 02 - "Ferry Flight" Adjusted ADF Almirante Lynch frequency to 380 kHz to avoid overlap with Gecitkale. Updated the kneeboard with the new frequency. Adjusted voice-overs to reflect the new ADF frequency. Reworked the ship approach voice-over, removing the black smoke advisory (smoke is now white). Corrected subtitles. Mission 05 - "Refugees" Further adjustments to the hover trigger. Disabled the navigation radio by default in the hot start version to avoid the annoying "beep beep" tone. Mission 09 - "Sheeba Farms" Verified and tested the rearm function at Camp Marjayoun. Mission resaved to address reported rearming issues. (Issue could not be reproduced.) Mission 10 - "Investigations" Adjusted briefing text.
English Version: I'm sorry, but I submitted the update to ED on time, but for some reason, it didn't make it into the patch. Unfortunately, this is out of my control, and you can believe me, I wasn't happy about it either! I can't provide a hotfix at the moment, as I'm on vacation and not at my gaming PC. I apologize for the inconvenience.
  23. Dear all, I had prepared a campaign update for today’s patch, DCS 2.9.11.4686, and sent it to ED before the submission deadline. It addressed some minor issues, fixed the ADF frequency for Mission 01, and included a reworked version of the "Refugee" mission. Unfortunately, my changes somehow did not make it into today’s update, which is completely out of my control once I submitted them to ED. I apologize for the inconvenience. Nevertheless, I would like to thank you all for playing my campaign and for the great and productive feedback. Amazing – thank you very much! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and wonderful days with your loved ones.
  24. I think you mean the "Refugee" Mission starting on the boat, I just checked. There is no static noise and I turned of the radio which makes the sound. Edit: Ah got it, if you take the air start version of the mission, there is still the noise. I changed it and submit for update. thx.
