Hi: The "FC2 F-18C Complete" is now available at (lockonfiles.com). It is a manual install and all folders required are named for easy install. rattler

Alf7 Yes, a lot of people use the Mig29G. You can get more weapons working with it. I do believe you can get them working with the Su-27 just got to find the way around it. The Su-33 has a disadvantage as you can't get the TV screen, at least I have not found a way to get it working. You can get the long range AGM84A and dumb bombs and rockets to work but not the TV or laser guide bombs, so I am trying to stick with the Su-27. Yes the F-18F is a nice addition to FC2. Hope we can get or keep some of these with FC3. Cheers. rattler

The cockpit is reskinned and it is the FC2 AI F-18C,it has I believe 4 skins, the main one and 3 other Sqn. Cheers. John, I have your skins in a package and will see if I can get them into the download with the GBU's. I had them done and forgot to put them into the download, sorry but I will update and get them in for you. Appreciated.

Ok, I have some of the Russian type GBU's working, how do I get the American skins on them?

Thank you so much for the photos. rattler

Don't believe refuel is an option for the FC2 f/a18. Weapons are the AGM65K,Rockets,free fall bombs,TV screen, free fall pipper and A/A. VNAO uses the Mig29G, this is the FC2 F18 AI, with Su-27/33 re-worked cockpit and can be put on the Su-33 model as well, it has full carrier capability with both Cockpits and uses the Su-33 keyboard. Still trying the other AGM65 series guided bombs and it looks good. I seem to have an issue right now with the AGM84A and GBU's have a slight problem, although I have been able to use them but very difficult as the range is very close for the F-18. Asked several times for help with the weapons and refuel option to see if it can work with the FC2 AI F-18 but did not get any detailed help. Tried the VNAO weapons but would not work on the FC2 AI F-18 and they have so many files changed to do what they do, I really don't know if it can work for this model. If someone would give me a hand I would continue to update. We have FC3 coming very soon, hopefully but in the mean time this is not too bad and I also weighed what the F-18 may be tasked to do with weapons and this looked reasonable to me. You have the Hog to do all the low and hard stuff and I don't think one would waste an F-18 on some of the tasks. Just my ideas but if anyone would offer some help, would be glad to change anything. Not sure what FC3 has in store for the F-18. Hope this answers some of your questions and you can enjoy flying the F-18C. Cheers rattler

This is the F-18c files and cockpit. It contains Canadian skins and pilots which can be easily put back to the U.S. ones. This is a manual input and all folders have been named so you know where to put each file. Please make copy of original files or rename them. this is the link for the files. http://www.filefactory.com/file/cf25f60/n/FC2_F-18C_complete.zip https://rapidshare.com/files/1563544796/FC2_F-18C_complete.zip Rattler

Moa Hi Moa: Getting this up and going would be a great help and deeply appreciated. I have been almost a month trying different things to get weapons working. I have the AGM84A working(designate in ME and will come up auto), AGM65k etc, working(again designate in ME but this time turn I off turn O on and launch when in range about 19km do this for each designate), free fall with pipper, rocketes. agm88 explodes after launch, GBU's drop like free fall. Had everything working except the AGM84A, with TV camera and zoom but you had to be quick. I was trying to think what you would task the F-18 to do and in close would seem to be a job for the HOG and keeping the F-18 more out of distance except for the rocketes which would be a good support to ground troops. I am using the FC2 F-18C so I think some things VNAO has working on the Mig-29G may not work for the FC2 AI flyable. Not sure. Hard to follow the VNAO weapons and I get error messages when trying to change weapons. Can't hit a designated target that is moving. It flies to the point and will not follow the ship or tanks etc. I think that is a bug. You guy's have done a masterful job with VNAO, congrats and some great work and also thanks for sharing. I have uploaded my re-textured F-18 cockpit to (lockonfiles.com) and I am hoping to be able to do one for the F-18F. I want to see what FC3 brings first. Depending on its time frame. Hope someone can lead me by the hand through some of the weapons files to get these working better. I am using the SU-33 cockpit and keyboard, I could do it on the SU-27, with little problem but would have to start from scratch for the Mig-29G. SU-33 is a better fit if I can get the weapons sorted a little better. Thanks Moa. rattler

update Hi: This is a small update to cockpit. FC3 may bring about some changes so I will upload this model with the current working weapons and see what FC3 has to bring. Rattler

This is a great start in the right direction and here is hoping ED will be able to continue in this direction. This is the news we have been asking for all along and glad to see ED come out with this statement. I know sometimes we give ED a hard time in the forum at times but the occasional statement from the Company is always appreciated and lays a nice foundation for us as consumers to look upon and hope they can meet their goals. Maybe every half year a statement such as this would go a long way in settling down threads that appear at times. Thank you very much ED for this informative communication and hope all goals can be meet over time. Cheers. rattler

EtherealN: Must say one of the better posts. Thanks for your insight. rattler

I know ED is a small company but there are still proper ways to handle what has just happened. Ok, it was probably a learning curve that maybe ED did not anticipate. Fine. Everyone including Companies make mistakes. Said and done with. Go from here. The only thing that eludes me is what is ED,s main business? Is it producing Combat Flight Simulators or is their main focus on something else and producing Combat Flight Simulation and off shoot. If it is Combat Flight Simulation then yes they operate in a very small gaming niche and most certainly need our support as best we can. I appreciate this as I assume do many more. If this is just an off chute to their main business, I can understand why and how projects take so long to do and for me not enough time in the testing phase, as GG said as well as I that the product would cost a lot more and would cut the already small market smaller. I personally believe that if the price were higher for a more polished product would not diminish their profit line, again my personal opinion. What happened to BS, well that is over with and we move on. One point I would like to make is if in updating the find a better engine or what ever that would affect the up coming Modules is to keep it for the next generation. Finish the Series and introduce the new software in a completely new Series. I think, and again my personal thoughts that this would eliminate the BS issue we have just gone through. Still an ED fan, just I question things that's all. rattler

Happy Remembrance Day to ALL the fallen Soldiers, around the World!! rattler

Well you could be right I will not disagree as I don't know. I do remember purchasing sims for around that price when we all got started at this and remember this is a very Highly complex simulation ED is offering. However like I said I can't dispute your point.
-
Well I don't know how things work over there but you do get my point. I think? There is a formula I think, wholesale versus retail and that depends on type of products. ED would get what they need as a profit margin and the retailer would sell based on their profit margin, just used $70 as example. could be slightly higher or lower but you get my point. rattler
-
Well maybe everyone should wait and see what is going to take place instead of a purchase right out the door. Personally I would be very happy if ED toke longer in beta testing and pre- release tests and pay maybe $70 for a finished product. Now don't all jump I know all software has some bugs but they should be minor and perhaps given in a free update as it should not take long to fix. If this $20 dollars gets Ed back on track with how the DCS Modular Series was supposed to play out then it is worth every penny of the $20 dollars. A communication form ED/TFC on the future of this Series would be very welcome but this is up to ED/TFC. We have asked. rattler

F-18C WIP Ok, need detailed help. AgM-84e will hit any ground target designated in ME. Also AGM65K/e/d. Got pipper with all dumb bombs. It appears we can't shoot at moving ships, correct me if I am wrong but have not got that to work. I also have not got the GBU's to work. If anyone has some or all of this working and remember I am using the AI F-18C and not a Mig29g or Su-33, would you be so kind as to send me the details on how you got it working. I have tried a lot of combinations but still no success. Once I can get the weapons sorted out the F-18 will be ready for upload with a 2D textured pit. Thanks for any help you can give. rattler

BS2 have out, and what happens with FC2?
rattler replied to Silver_Dragon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Now A-10 2. $21.95, taking into account todays prices and adjusting for inflation. Pete -
Good on you: I like people who think outside the box and willing to try and use something for something different. Takes talent to change objects or whatever to do something else. Just look at what FC2 modders, skinners etc. have done to improve this series. Don't stop thinking and trying, even once in a while throw an idea out to forum, like I do at times. Who knows what may come of it. Maybe something and maybe nothing. One has to try. Cheers. rattler

Moa: Yes I can understand the lose of a carrier. Just thought I would get an idea going and see where it leads. aaron886: there is never a solid no. Not highly probable but until one thinks of the possibilities and tries then the possibility exists. It is computer software and one never knows what can be done until one tries. It may not be a carrier but just maybe there might be a way to move the arrester cables. Who knows until one with software knowledge tries the idea. You may be absolutely correct but it has to be tried first.

Looks good. Can this be done with the FC2 model. Remember it is the AI and all we are doing is giving it a cockpit and keyboard commands. IE: f18-c with su-27 cockpit/keyboard, f-18-c with f-15 cockpit/keyboard and the one I am using so we have full carrier capability is the f-18c with su-33 cockpit(reworked a bit and keyboard). I think this is where I am have some difficulty with weapons, I need to know how to put Russian weapons on the F-18 with a model of the American and the proper launcher so it can be useable. VNAO used the Mig29G but all their weapons for the Mig29k, F-18F, F-15 etc are all together in a bunch of files and I can't follow the files for just the F18, tried several times but either won't launch or launch but no lock. If I could get one GBU working would be great. Trying the GBU-16 but it is unguided for me and I have to figure out how to make it guided. I get the pepper but it just drops straight down. Some fun, got files all over the place. rattler.
