One thing I found about TrackiR is that it takes a bit of getting use to. 1 week is not long enough it may take a month or so to really get use to using it and even then it is still tough to hit switches without the view moving on you. One way around this is to bind the trackIr pause key to a button on your Hotas. The issue is it is unnatural to move your head to look left/right/up/down but keep your eyes looking forward to see what you are looking for...its not how we are wired so you have to train yourself to get use to it. Eventually what will happen to you is that you will be watching DCS:A10 videos or any sim videos on youtube and you will be trying to change the view by moving your head only to realize its a video. I do it all the time and it makes me feel like an idiot or maybe I just fly 10 way to much....nah.

There is this here http://www.scsimulations.com/forums/showthread.php?1170-UFC Its not an out of the box and ready to go item. You will have to get the switches and the interface board and put them in but the hardest part is done which is the engraved enclosure and the engraved buttons. PM Flim if you are interested.

Then you missed this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71939 and this one http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71729&page=8 Here is the link to the latest Helios build with no licensing requirement http://www.scsimulations.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=44

Not one regret here for paying for it. I had Helios on day 1 of beta and paid for it on day 1 of the release of RC1. I cannot fly without it these days. Once everyone gets a taste of having all the gauges and switches available right in front of you it becomes a whole different simming experience. To all of my multi monitor flight simmers....please take the time to try this out you will not regret it one bit. If you are like me and can not sim without it please don't forget to donate to the cause. Trust me when I say Gadroc deserves more than what he got with what he developed here. The time and support was second to none.

multi monitor picture request !
airdog replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just did a quick search for a review on gaming with the matrox card and came up with nothing. None of the company literature even mentions gaming with these cards. I'd be careful before dropping cash on these cards if you are only looking for multimonitor support....Nvidia and ATI support MM setups very well. I am running 4 monitors off of 2 Nvidia GTX 460's with very satisfactory results and plenty of others are using ATI. My opinion at this point is that the Matrox cards may be a bit of a disappointment in the 3D gaming arena. -
That monitor is a 18.5 inch 1366x768 monitor...non touch. Please take a look at the FAQ on SCSimulations site for a quick down and dirty on how to get your panel running correctly. It will be much quicker than me trying to explain it here. Couple of question though....what is your setup configuration? Have you got the A10 MFD's exported to your second monitor yet? The MFD's need to be exported thru A10 the Helios is an overlay with exported switches and gauges. There is also the ability to export RWR digital clock and UHF repeater but is all done thru A10 then you build your panel around the exports. Its all on the SCS site. IF you ask your questions there the local geniuses will be quick to help out at all houirs of the day and night.

HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C
airdog replied to ClearDark's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Wow...didnt really mean for this to fall into this. My poiint was that as of right now for a true drag and drop and your done Helios is more polished. I never meant to take anything away from Hawgtouch as I am truly impressed with what Cleardark has done and the time he is giving to the community. It is commendable. Time to move on :) -

airdog replied to ClearDark's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Really?....when you can build any panel or gauge for the a10 that has every button, switch, label and working in under 5 minutes with an easy to use user interface then they may be competing. Hawgtouch is am amazing piece of work but at this point it does not compare to what Helios can do right now. -
This has been happening for awhile for Nvidia 460 owners and a few others. There are a couple of threads about it. You will get the panel text missing soon also. It seems to be a Nvidia only issue. IT usually crops up for me when I go to any view outside the cockpit. IT also seems to be worse if you are flying a mission at dusk. If i had to guess it's a driver issue but ED has been very silent on both the MFD text and panel text disappearing.

Well...there you go we are all correct...what a wonderful world ;)
-
Nope....you need TO run aero to get the boost. Turning off aero disables some directx items that Helios and hawgtouch need to work at their best. Here: http://www.scsimulations.com/forums/showthread.php?1139-Aero-desktop-themes-improve-performance.

I point track the target with my TGP and then read off the Lat/Long that is at the bottom middle of the TGP screen to my wingman who enters the data into his cdu and within minutes the target is smoking :)

Determining the correct way to take-off / Land on runaway
airdog replied to siefex's topic in Bugs and Problems
I drop a bomb on the desired landing airport air traffic control tower and see which way the smoke blows...that is how I determine wind direction from the air...all other pilots call the Tower who will give them the active runway along with wind direction and speed. -
[How To] Export ALL Indicators like MFCD via ViewPorts
airdog replied to icemaker's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
This has been around since the beginning. The code used for all these new exports existed in the MFCD_init.lua file all along. It just took some geniuses like Icemaker and Trigen to flesh it out for us. What disappoints me is why ED did not make this available from day 1. Of course after that fact of the above 2 gentlemen finding this I am amazed at how easy it really is and how little work it would have been for ED to do this for the us. It is my belief that maybe as Graphic artists they do not want all the work of the cockpit to go unused. They put an awful lot of work making the cockpit graphics realistic then us bastards come along and want to make it all go away. I can see it now.....the artist reads this thread and throws his virtual brush to the floor and walks off muttering how much we do not appreciate his fine work. Of course this is just happening in my little world...your visions may vary -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
airdog replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
There might be a name conflict somewhere in one of those files. Check Line 2 of all those .lua files and make sure they all are named differently -
A good majority(if not all) of Naval pilots do use a form of autopilot on carrier landings. They use the autothrottle function but hand fly the aircraft so all they have to worry about is lineup and glideslope and the aircraft autothrottles will maintain AoA/onspeed condition for the carrier landing. I've heard that if the pilot is doing the throttles himself it is usually very apparent in his approach. During a naval pilots yearly Carrier qualification he is required to use several different types of conditions to get onto the boat which covers all scenarios of system failures that could make it difficult to land on the carrier IE...autothrottle failure and such. Remember that almost an entire career of a pilots life is training in his aircraft....combat missions are few and far between prior to the middle east falling apart and America deciding its going to be the world police...though that is whole different discussion ;)
