  1. I also have that sound issure - very irritating. Using 7.1 headphones.
  2. An Anton would make me very happy as well! Real men fly radial! But the Dora is a dream - looking forward for the 1944 planeset to fill up!
  3. wasyl00 - I just found about your fantastic mod. Please put me down for a 80mm extension & cable. Thx! Cheers Kirin
  4. Upgraded the RAM to 8GB of 1600Mhz Corsair RAM and the GPU to a 280x. Very happy so far. Everything runs smooth at high to very high settings. Now I get to get back on learning the planes!
  5. Greetings aces After a long hiatus my sim addiction has kicked in again. Especially with a new generation of WW2 sims like “IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad” and “DCS WW2: 1944” on the horizon along with the dawn of true VR gaming in the form of the Oculus Rift I cannot withstand the call. My current PC system is from 2009 and ran fine at the time. Over the years it got some quirks like the SSD (which is not in the list since I got it later) stopped working. Also I was experiencing random restarts and blue screens so I set it back to default clock after I overclocked the CPU as well as the GFX card. In short it’s a mess. I haven’t followed the development of gaming hardware very closely so I am back in noob status when it comes to todays computers. This is why I need your help. Does it make sense to upgrade my components? Should I start from scratch? What builds do you guys recommend? The goal is to play the newest flight-sims at high detail level. An intermediate goal will be the implementation of the Oculus Rift so multi-monitor setup is not on the list. My budget is kinda strained at the moment so I cannot got full high-end. But I imagine something in the upper third - in number around 1000 Euro / 1400 USD (for the PC only - I got everything else like peripherals and monitor). Looking forward to hear your suggestions. 6. I'd like to see both - anyone care to re-post the pictures so one can seen them without registering with scs?
  7. No white boxes so far. But I noticed shimmering dark textures from burned out wrecks... @HD6950
  8. Thanks for the link. Interesting read at least but not a conclusive analysis of the 'Ati problem' - if there is one. I think both competitors use 'cheats' to achieve higher benchmarking scores. How this affects DCS I do not know - but the answer of the 'techie' seems disheartening although the explanation is vague. As for my experience I am happy with what I got. Great performance at a very good price. And no intention to start a war what-so-ever. (besides the war against Apple :) )
  9. @ Revvin: I actually have no need to fix the table top since with all the stuff I usually put on it it holds in place nicely. Plus I can push and pull it if needed. @ Revvin2: To get in and out of the cockpit I loosen the throttle mount and swing it open like a car door. The biggest problem is not to get stuck with the foot inside headphone/trackir cable. But with a little practice it's no problem at all. And mind that I am a quite big and chubby guy (110kg @ 187cm). @ Data: Will take some pics on the weekend. Yup those are Simped Pedals - an they just fit in but no chance to put in the "pedal holder plate". Actually the oblique struts cover about an inch of the foot pedal so I cannot put my foot on it completey. It's workable but I would buy smaller pedals for my next set.
  10. Hmm, do you have any source for such claim? I am a happy Ati customer at the moment. I am running an Asus 6950 with 6970 BIOS (which means more shaders) @ 6970 speeds. With my rig (i5 750 @ 4.2Ghz o/c) the performance is very satisfactory. It's true that I suffer the white spots. But word goes that the new Catalyst 11.6 cure it. (will test tonite) At the current price-tag the Radeo HD6xxx series is unbeatable. And of course eyefinity is hard to replace if you wanna run multimonitor. I wouldn't know how to export 2 MFDs on a GTX without the need of a secondary graphic card or such.
  11. ... and remember: Thou shalt not defrag thy SSD!
  12. Hey Impact, I mounted my Warthog like this: - Stick: unscrewed the stick from the baseplate, drilled the same holes into the center stick mount of the obutto (which is almost the perfect size and thickness for that purpose) and screwed it back on with the original screws. Results in nice sturdy center-mount. - Throttle: mounted with velcro-straps - easy, dirty, cheap and works like a charm See pics (without MFDs mounted - see Lowland Tigermeet 2011 Gallery for full pics http://www.lowlandtigermeet.com/gallery/2011/index.html)
  13. Interestingly enough my experience is the other way round. With a full 5.1 headset (Tritton PC510) the sound, especially the engines sound much 'fuller', more saturated which greatly enchances the immersion. I even had to turn down overall volume to 80% and increase TS3 output volume to keep understanding my squadmates. Now when I go to speakers 2.0 the sound is less 'basey' and very thin as Joz described... so thumbs up for surround sound! And maybe an option in the control menue for 2.0 stereo optimized sound.
  14. Adding myself to the 'Flashing Whites' community. GPU: HD6950@6970 BIOS
  15. Alright - the MFD project has been completed. Back onto the Android tablet. --- More out of chance than anything else I stumbled about a kind of follow-up project of Touchbuddy called TouchDown. It's merits are a cross-platform compatibility - it basically works on any device which can access a webserver. I haven't tried it yet but it looks promising and I would like to point the communitys attention to it. More infos here: http://desrat.lightning-bolt.net/TouchDown/index.php Kirin out
  16. Hmm, Pendra might be busy working on the new version. Holding my breath. Distracted anyways with the MFD Cougar project... :)
  17. final update: It works - it really does. Both MFCDs export nicely. Now I just have to mount the Cougar pack! :)
  18. update: Alrighty. Just came home with an Apple (yikes) MiniDP-VGA Adapter. Hooked up the third monitor - and voila - it works! 1 - main screen - 24" LG TFT - HDMI 2 - right MFD - 8" no name LCD - DVI/VGA (top) 3 - testrun - 19" TFT - miniDP/VGA So off to hook up the real 8" Hami! Will report findings.
  19. Hmm, chokko is right sadly. After reading his reply I tried following: 1 - main screen - 24" LG TFT - HDMI 2 - right MFD - 8" no name LCD - DVI/VGA (top) -> works 3 - left MFD - 19" no name TFT - DVI (bottom) -> no picture when I switch the DVI around its: 1 - main screen - 24" LG TFT - HDMI 2 - right MFD - 8" no name LCD - DVI/VGA (bottom) -> no picture 3 - left MFD - 19" no name TFT - DVI (top) -> works So it seems only one DVI port is usable. What a mess! My last try will be: 1 - main screen - 24" LG TFT - HDMI 2 - right MFD - 8" no name LCD - DVI/VGA (top) 3 - left MFD - 8" Hami Touchscreen - miniDP/VGA
  20. Ha! HDMI on main working great so far. My setup: Gfx card: Asus 6950 flashed to 6970 BIOS (2x DVI, 1x HDMI, 2x miniDP) 1 - main screen - 24" LG TFT - HDMI 2 - right MFD - 8" no name LCD - DVI/VGA 3 - left MFD - 8" Hami Touchscreen - DVI/VGA (not tested since I need another DVI/VGA adapter - will do so tonight)
  21. BTW, I received following screen yesterday. It works brilliantly so far - big enough to fill the entire Cougar MFD frame. Still struggeling with 3 monitor setup though. http://cgi.ebay.ch/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160415097718&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
  22. Errr, Kuky, can you please state why you cannot use the HDMI port for a multimonitor setup? Because that's what I planning to do. Plan B is to use the 2 Mini-DP for the MFCDs (using DP-VGA adapters). But I read that the screen with the highest resolution has to be on DP. So not sure here either. Plan C is to put both MFCDs on DVI and the main screen on DP. I don't fancy this too much since I have to get an expensive active DP-DVI adapter plus 2 VGA-DVI adapters. Any advice?
  23. I guess so. Android is Android. But I haven't got further than what I posted.
  24. Bumping up - hopefully to Pendras attention...
  25. Alright. I got one step further. I noticed that 'FORCE CLOSE' only appears when the server is not running correctly. But I am still puzzled how to get a profile running on the tablet. What I tried so far: - start YHTK on PC - load profile 'keyboard 3" on PC - start server on PC - load YHTK on Android tablet - enter IP and port - start Now I get following: - the tablet display is blank, showing IP and port on the upper left corner - when I touch anywhere on the tablet it shows some kind of coordinates in the upper left corner My questions: - How do I load a profile on the tablet? - Do I have to load the profile on the PC as well? Help is appreciated.
