  1. They just updated their website - maybe it's wonky. Try this mail: support@bigapplebuddy.zendesk.com
  2. Gerrard, I ordered one to Switzerland through these guys: https://www.bigapplebuddy.com/ Not cheap. But very fast an reliable service. Cheers
  3. Reprojection? Gman, I have a question for you. How does Samsung handle the reprojection? As I am not able to maintain a constant 90FPS in all situations in DCS that is my main concern. As far as my research goes Oculus' timewarp is much superior to HTCs reprojection. How does Samsung compare to the two?
  4. I am really excited for the (somewhat) increased resolution and especially for better lenses. Not so much for DCS though because its VR performance is not at all stellar and the HTC reprojection is not a valid solution at the moment. But there are other applications that will greatly benefit from improved visuals.
  5. @Wags Does that mean we could some optimized VR performance in collaboration with Pimax? That would be beyond awesome and an immediate reason to back the Pimax 8k. I basically stopped playing DCS because the experience is really subpar on the Vive and I simply cannot go back to 2D.
  6. After a hiatus I came back to the DCS/Vive combo. Not much has changed though. I still get frequent judders and a lot of ghosting when using the reprojection options. Especially visible with lit up objects - like a car moving along the highway. What is the current verdict on interleave vs. asynchronus reprojection? Either one? Both? Any more magic tricks to get DCS enjoyable in the Vive? -- BTW, I've been doing some Aerofly FS 2 lately which runs like a dream in VR. Yeah - of course - it's no high fidelity combat sim as DCS but it shows how well a flight simulator can perform in VR!
  7. What did you do wrong the first time around?
  8. ASR is the most exciting DCS VR news in a long time! Tell me guys - how does it perform? Is DCS playable in the Vive now?
  9. That's actually a fair point.
  10. I know what the Vive looks like in RL because I have one. I am very well aware of the limitation of that type of recording. I am looking for that awful ghosting I get with reprojection and that should be noticable on the phone camera too. As far as I can judge Windys footage he doesn't get the judders and ghosting as bad as I do - so I have to investigate my setup further because there must be something going wrong.
  11. Windy - I really appreciate the effort you put into this. Could you take a similar footage while flying low and rolling while looking over your wing? I would really like to to see objects moving fast.
  12. Sorry, but Reprojection just don't cut it with me. You were flying straight and level most of the time. The ghosting gets really bad when rolling and looking over your wing. I just cannot unsee it. Try your setup in a more busy mission or dare go online - things will fall apart. Until DCS gets a vast improvement in the department of VR optimization I am grounded. Running a i7-6700k@4.7, GTX1080, 16GB RAM.
  13. I agree that the scales is slightly off to the small side. Everything is really tiny in the Mirage for example. Really prominently seen on the pilot model as well, after ejection for example. I setting to adjust scale would vastly increase the immersion. Using a Vive. The IPD is set according to the measurements of my optician. P.S. DCS is the only game that is slightly off in scale. Also H3 for example. Guns in my hand look and feel tiny.
  14. Edit: I am even more frustrated now because I lost 30min worth of text because of a misclick. I try to reproduce. Greetings aces Ever since the consumer VR HMDs were announced I felt my dream of finally being able to roam the virtual skies at it meant to be to come true. Reality was a rather rough landing. A little background on me. I am halfway computer savvy and used to build my own rigs for almost three decades now. Currently I run an i7-6700k@4.7, Geforce 1080, 16GB Ram DDR4 2666, Samsung SSD 850. I know my way around the forums, reddit and other sources of information. I am willing and able to tweak and test. I opted for pre-ordering a Vive because Valve/Steam backed it and the Oculus pre-order system was a mess at the time. I regret my decision now. Don’t get me wrong, I still think that the Vive is the better device with the better environment for developers and gamers alike. But for DCS in particular it apparently comes in second place by a long shot. The experience in the Vive is degraded in such a way that I would go as far as having DCS removed from the Steam VR section. My problem is that I cannot maintain 90FPS in DCS no matter what tweaks and settings I use. Reprojection is not an option because its side-effects are not tolerable. The ghosting is really bad - mostly visible when rolling near other objects. I haven’t experienced it first hand but ATW is said to do a much better job - at least for seated experience. In either case both technologies are only a safety mechanism and should not be considered the standard experience. Will DCS receive further improvements to make it VR viable without ATW? Probably - but I kinda doubt it will be enough to enjoy DCS on the current hardware generation. It’s frustrating. Especially since there are other games/sims that pull it off. Warthunder is absolutely smooth at the highest settings. Yes, I know, it’s nowhere near a high fidelity simulation as DCS but at least it let’s me enjoy flying and dogfighting in VR. I am open to any suggestion and tweaks the community has to find the holy grail of 90FPS. But this is also a plea to ED and Valve to maybe get their heads together and figure out the technicalities. DCS is listed as an official Steam VR title. In the current state it does not deliver an optimized experience (at least not on the Vive). It’s a pity because it is, without a doubt, the best modern era flight simulator. Kirin out
  15. This reminds me of the discussion when TrackIR hit the scene. There were voices that put it down as a gimmick and unusable. It turned out different. VR IS the future and one of the reasons the sim genre will rise again. Sure, the first generation is not quite up to the task - but that is a matter of time.
  16. I really don't care which company does support what under what name. I just want DCS to perform better in VR. If all the tech mumbo jumbo Skate is talking about is already possible without NVidias proprietary API all the better. The question remains why it's not implemented - I am not looking at DCS alone - but other demanding VR games. Heck, I would pay extra money to get a VR optimized version of DCS. ED could even Kickstart it to see what kind of demand there is and to get a little funds beforehand.
  17. Dredd, what kind of performance did you get before the upgrade? Gesendet von meinem C6903 mit Tapatalk
  18. The main difference is the fantastic gimbals of the Mamba. The Warthog alsways felt very stiff and choppy. Precision flying needed a lot of force holding the stick in a position - it was very tiring. Also I didn't like that "sticky" feeling. Once I disassembled the Warthog I was very disappointed at the low workmanship of the main gimbal ball. There were visible creases and mold lines. So without major overhaul that sticky feeling wouldn't change. The Mamba spring gimbals are a work of genius. Adjustable and very smooth. With the Warthog adapter you get the best of both worlds. A great stick setup like you are used to with all the buttons and hats you need, a very smooth gimbal system and as a bonus - tons of switches and dials on the stick base - which make flying in VR so much easier. The Mamba stick itself is nothing to write home about. Very cheap plastiky feeling and not enough buttons. Also the lose triggers can be a problem.
  19. I am very curious about your setup. I sport a i7-6700k along with a GTX970. I get 90FPS only if there is nothing else in view. Reprojection kicks in frequently which causes a stutter every time. That's with the 1.5 release - 2.0 is a bit better.
  20. Presence and suspension of disbelief are spot on with the Vive. After I optimized my HDM adjustment procedure and minimized the spacing for the glasses I wear within the Vive all gauges are readable and usable. For some of the smaller gauges you have to lean in to be able to read the numbers - but the gauge indicator are always readable from neutral seating position. The HUD is also readable but the experiences changes from plane to plane. In the Mirage I can read the HUD without a problem - in the A-10 it's a little harder - but I haven't tried to adjust it yet either. The biggest problem is the loss of frames. Reprojection is clearly inferior to Asynchronus Timewarp but this is something that can be adressed with a software update in the future hopefully. All in all I am very happy with the Vive. So happy that I deinstalled TrackIR - there is no way back in to flat 2D flying. It's still the 1st generation though. There are still a lot of issues you have to be aware off but I am sold 100%.
  21. I am using Manfrotto Super Clamps for mounting. They allow for quick unmounting as well - so there is no problem switching the lighthouses around. For my simpit I mounted one lighthouse in the left rear and the other in the right front corner - really up high, pointing down. This assures I keep tracking even at extreme positions like turning around 180° or leaning down to the side panels.
  22. Really? I got almost the same spec as you. In fact I have a I7-6700k. And Caucasus is nowhere near stable 90 FPS - more like fluctuating between 50 - 90 causing constant stutters. Care to share your settings?
  23. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/10series/geforce-gtx-1080 Nvidia really dropped the bomb with the reveal. The performance gains in VR sound incredible. Now the question is if DCS will be able to draw full advantage. Any hints from the devs? Cheers
  24. That's interesting. I get a much more fluid experience in the 2.0 Alpha. The hickups (judders) are much less frequent. Whereas in 1.5.3 I get them every few seconds. (both a low settings). Specs: i76700k, GTX970
  25. Hmm - do you also have the 2.0 beta? Hows the performance there? BTW, forgot to include my specs: i76700k, GTX970, 16 GB DDR4
