  1. Nothing I'm aware of. I try my best to keep a good feel for it and haven't seen anything. Only grey area is reddit where I don't keep any tabs. To my understanding there was a reply someone the HB team put out saying we should be getting details well before the half point of the year, but I'm taking them with a grain of salt because it wasn't Cobra or Mike who made it.
  2. Actually the plan they seem to be running is to release two different USAF F-4E variants, one "early" and one "late", getting the early first. The naval variant they decide to go with will be a different module, I would imagine with another early/late variant pack, as their doing with the F-4E and have done with the F-14. Becoming a bit of a heatblur signature for modules.
  3. No that's actually very real. Adverse yaw at high AoA on Phantoms was notorious, but it's also true it's partially not knowing how to fly it. Our E was partially trying to address the problem, but it's still something to be aware of. Don't know the number for the E, but for the hardwings, as you approach 15 units of AoA, you must use more and more rudder instead of aileron, and surpassing 15 you must not give ANY aileron input or risk flat spin. Again. These are numbers for the hardwings, so we might have more wiggle room
  4. The word on fighting migs from books and pilots was keeping knots up and using the vertical, but the problem is that the 21 and 19 are both pretty darn good in the vertical too in theory. To my very, very vague understanding, the Vietnamese just didn't really train in the vertical, and thus didn't use it much in practice. BIG HUGE NOTE HERE that this is heard from US sources, so possibly entirely wrong. But like I said, 19 and 21 both have good TWR and powerful afterburning engines. Do know they can't keep up in a straight line. The in game Bis as it stands quite literally, F-4E flying at theoretical max speed is beyond what the 21 can fly before it chokes its own engine. 19 won't choke itself, but still, doesn't keep up.
  5. Really my big question, on the co-pilot's controls, is there any kind of lock out where the pilot can enforce his controls over the co-pilots? I know from interviews and books that it's normally interlinked, where the co-pilot could in theory "fight" for the controls, so is there a lock out for if say, co-pilot got unruly, or maybe he's hit and slumping against one of them? Unruly really being the biggest we'd have to worry about in DCS with randoms hopping in and messing with you if you let them come aboard.
  6. Expanding on my previous post since I've been thinking about it more, think I personally would be able to shrug it off if we just got some solid word on the production other than "it's coming along." I don't need to hear "Oh we're working on these systems, this systems done, we want these systems done before we launch it" or "Heres how many rivets we've included". I don't even want a screen shot. Just give us a new release projection, even if it's rough. Also, @Horns, my only thing on all that is that pre-order periods can range wildly. I've witnessed several month long pre-orders to literally none ever since I joined the community. I can't speak for how Heatblur have done it in the past though, their other modules are before my time on DCS, as I've said before, my experience with heatblur was hearing waaaaaaay back in the day "These guys are making a multi-crew F-14", saying "Cool", then a few years later it was out and I bought it. I wasn't biting my nails watching every piece of development like I am with the F-4. I hadn't played or kept any kind of tabs on DCS other than a few failed attempts to learn the base Su-25 before the F-14 released.
  7. Only thing I can say on the release date is I'm hoping Q1, but mid Q2 would be alright. Passing Q2 I'll admittedly be kind of ticked. Had mixed messages of "Almost here guys, don't give up 2022 hopes :)" but now hearing their more recent reddit post of "we'll be nearing completion and showing details before the halfway point of the year :)" gives me bad vibes. I fully understand that they had some serious issues come up given the war in Ukraine, but this is a noticeable twist in direction. Now I will say, the most recent post wasn't from Cobra or Mike, so might not be the actual team's policy/opinion, for all I know that guy is in very, very hot water for the way he worded that message, or they were just being extremely casual in their presentation. Was reddit after all.
  8. Which post did you get that from?
  9. I can't speak for the ICE upgrades, but in an interview not too long ago the F-4F was directly attacked as not going to be made because the differences were so minimal they just didn't want to bother.
  10. Targeting pods will almost definitely be rear seater territory. I don't know if they full on lack the controls or screens for it, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn just that.
  11. A good sign to be sure.
  12. I saw it, I know, it's beautiful
  13. Not posting any screenies myself, but did note a few things. 1) Exterior model looks DONE. They did make use of the same paint scheme a good few times, but they did show variation. Included some nice close ups, and gave use a look down into the cockpit from outside, HOWEVEr 2) Very keenly noticed, that while there were in general very few cockpit view shots for the video, we definitely did not get any for the F-4. Maybe still getting the finishing touches in on it? 3) We did see weapon releases! Bombs specifically, no A/A missiles, and I was hoping to see a gun burst personally, but the weapon system does seem to be in.
  14. 1) Anyone have a full cold start checklist yet? 2) Anyone know the abilities of our nav system? I've been reading USAF Phantoms and to my understanding we get INS, but does that just give a Lat-long readout, or what? 3) Anyone have info on how our IFF works?
  15. Halliburton was founded in 1919 and Cobra was born in 1991, just move one digit and you've got 1919 or 1991 from both of those! Must be a connection!
  16. No news on dates. Imagine it they'll say anything it'll be after the 2023 video releases. If I see anything I'll be sure to share.
  17. Haven't peeked my head into this thread since it was first posted and see I've not missed much. Tbh I think it's dumb 90% of the time when mods lock threads, but I think this one might be needing it. We're getting the F-4E. While I unrepentantly wish we were getting the J instead because I love me some naval aviation, we're getting the E, and I'm going to love it, and I will continue to love it after we get more Phantoms. Nothing can be said or done to change the fact we're getting the early E first. The E variant as a whole saw noble, heavy, and effective service for the USAF, and many other airforces of many other countries. Much like a lot of other Phantom variants. Looking forward to Jan 4 and the 2023 video. Where we will hopefully be seeing a Phantom. With a gun.
  18. It's definitely in the video. They aren't going to just show the Phantoms and not do something with them. It wouldn't have been hard to just do this instead... pardon my on mobile crappy editing. Happy new years BTW.
  19. Not found by me originally, but this is on the Eagle Dynamics Facebook page. Posting here for those who don't check the pinned thread
  20. Dunno if we'll ever get one of those. I'd say that anything past the naval phantom would be a loop back to an earlier hard wing USAF/USN plane, but definitely think that if we were to get a foreign variant hard wing or not it's a race between the British and the Japanese variants. Depends on a lot of stuff. EJ among other things might even get the F-16's radar, British get the Skyflash and "better" engines along with their myriad other little bits and pieces they both changed.
  21. Depending on the naval Phantom everyone is like 90% sure will be next we probably will get a hard wing Phantom
  22. Like a lot of folks are saying, could be a lot of things. Could be any of the veritable SLEW of aircraft or terrains that got announced in the August-October period. The hun, the tornado, the Kfir, the Skyraider, the Hercules, or the La-7 for planes, we've been expecting Kiowa news. Sinai and Kola for maps. That or the literal HUNDREDS of options for terrains or aircraft. But we're all rooting for the Phantom, and I really do belive it will be atleast teased with a similar, but in-game shot of the gunsight.
  23. I'm just calling it again, I think we'll get our status for new years videos.
  24. Just poking around and trying to confirm what all I just said. Some b-52s were made Harpoon capable, brand new F-15EX planes have the capability, and F-16s have the capability. To my understanding all but the B-52 were given the capability for export market shenanigans though, and again, USAF doesn't seem to use the missiles much themselves and leave the blue water big ship engagements to the Navy
