  1. Do want to briefly highlight that there is no and should not be any ill will towards the HB team. Will profess personal slight annoyance with the lack of a solid answer, but at the same time fully get that this is just the situation we're in, but it doesn't go past that, a slight annoyance. Still expecting the module will drop in an excellent state and will be a personal favorite for a long time, if not forever.
  2. Read it and weep. https://stormbirds.blog/2022/10/29/an-update-on-the-dcs-f-4-phantom/ As in literally weep. I like to imagine they might "get us in the fourth quarter", as the saying goes, but my hopes are down. Strange mix of "We're still going for it" and "Here's all these reasons we won't make it." Fingers crossed, praying, but I think we're gonna have to wait for 2023 - not that I'm too upset.
  3. Personally my stance is if we don't get a reveal by the mid point of November it's unlikely very unlikely we'll get her this year, if we don't get one by the end it's a 2023 release. Past saying stuff like that though we really have no ability to speculate, just not enough information floating around to dissect. We don't know exactly when they started working, we don't know exactly how many people they have working on it, for how long, how long do they really need to make the module. Only thing I can say with (personal) confidence is the Jester slice of it should be ez pz, they got most of the hard work done in making him in the first place. I'd let it all ride that Jester was probably made with multi seat functionality for multiple planes with multiple different levels of capability in mind from the start, given they've been planning the Phantom for a good bit, we know the intruder is on the block, etc. Here's to hoping an imminent announcement.
  4. F-4Es were equipped with the AN/ASG-26 sight, which while I don't have the documentation immediately on hand, I know gives a calculated lead to the target. Will dig through my books and the documents I have for exact details sometime soon.
  5. Read the title and answer away. Did the Navy Phantoms ever take on the Agile Eagle slatted wings? I don't have any documentation on it that I know of, as I've been largely focused on getting Airforce documents on the E. Quick google searches yielded nothing that stuck right out at me, and I don't really want to go on an archive dig for something I'm not too concerned about until after the E comes out.
  6. Honestly been feeling kind of similar, but being burnt out on the communities I play with is also a factor, not just sheer excitement for the Phantom.
  7. Are there screenshots? In theory it should be. HB is taking a different approach on how they release information for it. While I like the mysticism and excitement build up, it is leading to some frustration and questions of "If it's so close to ready then why can't we see it?"
  8. Fellas, just be patient and good things will come. Know we're all excited, but they've said it's still on track for this year, lets just keep our fingers crossed and prayers focused on making that happen. If it's really destined to be, they'll be telling us something soon, only have two months left after all.
  9. what did he mean by this... Maybe it's time to go back to "now yuo se..."
  10. Sadly not. IronMike did talk about some big news apparently coming soon, so hopefully screenies then.
  11. Accidentally summoned the Tornado
  12. It didn't work
  13. More silence. My hopes are still tempered but I must post. Last time I put the sad man the fighter podcast interview happened. Let's see what happens this time.
  14. HB working on the Phantom to get it before years end
  15. The biggest quirk I know of is the adverse yaw is very, very bad at high AoA, like "You will enter an unrecoverable flat spin" kind of very bad.
  16. Agreed, with any luck that'll be our latest, but of course if heatblur pulls a miracle and gets us our 22 phantom it'll be a time to rejoice.
  17. With the recent reddit thing, I think it's prolly gonna be pushed back, but the problem is that with how they've been doing this so far, we'll never know until "IT'S READY HERE'S THE RELEASE DATE"
  18. Given the circumstances yeah, obviously can't really complain if it gets pushed back. My only hope with that is we get some sort of quickie announcement to say so. At the same time, I fully believe in their drive to still make it happen, and hope they can pull it off.
  19. Gentle reminder this is a thread about the F-4 family, not the F-14 and heatblur's progress on it. Also upon review, both from consuming a LOT of Vietnam air war audiobooks, and now reading "USAF Phantoms: Tactics, Training, and Weapons" I think I'd most like a D model. Navy model is also very cool, and I stand that my old suggestion is probably the next step for the Phantom family, but I've very much come to like the thought of a D model.
  20. TL;DR of the Phantom notes I took away: We're getting the non-DMAS version first at EA No CURRENT plans for anything past the navy phantom, direct attack against the F-4G, they would have to model so much stuff for it to work. No mention of release date, or changes to release date
  21. Phantom related content starts around the 53-54 minute mark for those only interested in that.
  22. Not on their facebook yet, still listening to it, but it directly mentions the F-4 in the description.
