Agree with late Q4 being what I expect, unless HB has learned no lessons on tempering their own release dates, or forbid just lying through their teeth at us. My pessimistic view is Q1 next year. Really think they've got it well in hand.

Also, combed their FB posts because I wanted to make sure I read it right before posting it, they've replied that it's still slated for this year.

My thing with all of this speculation is they've been working on the F-4 probably as their proprietary module for a good while. They have stated on Facebook when asked that all the other modules they've announced have been planned for release after the Phantom since the beginning. Just because Heatblur is being a bit mystic I feel like has caused a negative kick. People usually expect announcement for a module's development years before the ground is even broken. In the case of the F-4 indications are they've been working on it for awhile, and have broken the norm of "its coming out in a few years". As for HB missing release dates, I can only hope they've learned some lessons, I didnt experience it because it was before my time. Only got into DCS when the Tomcat dropped and I wasn't biting my nails waiting for the release, I just heard it released and got into DCS. I will say they are given a unique advantage in that they announced whenever they wanted within their time-frame. The plane could of been in a near complete state at the announcement and they are just ironing it out and waiting for their time slot to release it given by ED, assuming ED has that power over them. But yeah, given the lack of pictures for all we know it's an incomplete kit bash. No way to know for sure. Hopefully we'll hear soon though, with the slight rumblings from HB's Facebook I think we'll get pictures or videos sooner than later, but keep release dates tempered lads. I cringe at the people saying 2 weeks in the comments of their FB

I gotta agree with @LanceCriminal86. It was either a statement like that or the teasing "soon :)" which translates to like "OH HOLY <profanity> IT'S ABOUT TO COME OUT LIKE RIGHT NOW BRO". To give my most pessimistic view I think it might come out by Feb of next year latest, if it gets really badly delayed, but I think Heatblur will keep their initial statement of this year. The F-4 has probably been on the chopping block for quite awhile and has been the big focus of their development, given we've seen very little about their other proposed modules. Obviously all speculation, and the pessimism might be right, or it might drop literally tomorrow. It might not drop until 2030. Who knows.

I'm keeping skeptical unless a heatblur dev is about to message me and tell me a release date (which I'd sign an NDA for you should definitely tell me), I'm sticking with earliest release October, latest December.

Another update from Heatblur. Again nothing big, but it's still Phantom related. Updated their cover photo.

Personally I want the F-4J more than the E, and honestly I expect the J to be the next Phantom in the family we get our hands on, just given the fact it differs (speaking very relatively) little from the E model. My absolute dream would be the G model. Only problem with that is it would have to break a lot of electronic warfare ground I have to wonder if the DCS engine could handle. Personally really don't care for the much more modern versions. Any of them capable of flinging an AMRAAM I don't care to see. Will never be able to stand tall next to modern aircraft and will be a pariah in most cold war servers, so the modernized German ICE and Greek "Peace Icarus 2000" models.

Point of discussion I think best fits here. It looks like the F-1 is about to drop, what do we think comes next? My hoped for release pattern is F-1 -> F-4 -> F-15E But problem is zero way to verify any of that because RAZBAM is a very mysterious beast and heatblur is going to keep their mouth shut until it's almost on top of us.

As asked in the title, was the guy in back typically referred to as GIB, WISO, WSO, or RIO? In Fighter Pilot by Robin Olds I always heard it as GIB, and in TOPGUN by Dan (if I remember right, someone please double check me) it was RIO.

Sadly been too ill to work on my next schizophrenia post. Hope you're all doing well though.

Weapons and Loadouts - Walleye, Shrike, CBUs and Napalm
Czechnology replied to Raviar's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
DCS lacks napalm, so that's probably a no. To my understanding the AGM-78 was only launched from the G variant of the Phantom, might be wrong, but I don't see why the Shrike couldn't be fired. -
I've been trying and so far failing to find good pictures of the back seater area. Anyone got any? Cockpit pictures in general accepted though I think

Hello. My new schizophrenia rant is as such. Went on a trip with family, landed at SLC, and we turned into a taxi way. I took a picture while we were turning in to send to family not on the trip to show we'd arrived, upon investigating the pictures...
