  1. hi Kariyann71 , nice work so far. id like to know if its possible to use your software for visual reference only. in my situation i am building a M2000 simpit with 1 to 1 scale and to allow for easier navigation in my cockpit id like to see my hands in the virtual cockpit but i dont want to have any click functions active.
  2. it generally worked ok with push buttons but with a toggle switch in the mix i was getting some flickering on that toggle switch, could even be a bad switch. the setup is 11 momentary switches and 2 toggle switches. each have their own data pin but all share the same ground.
  3. hi guys im just wondering is it required to run diodes with toggle switches when using arduino. i have a mega a micro and a uno and ive noticed some switches are not behaving well when linked to a common ground.
  4. thanks for the kind words guys.
  5. still going with this just been busy, side panel and throttle quad in early stages with lots of sanding filling and grinding to do but its all good fun.
  6. hi Hansolo , its the M2000c however i downloaded the latest dcs-bios files and it is now a multiposition switch with a number of pins. i think id still like to try to get it to work with a left and right push button to change the channels if possible just to keep it as simple as possibe. cheers
  7. hi guys , is it possible to change bcdwheel to switch2pos for example here is a tacan channel tuning knob. DcsBios::BcdWheel tacCh10Sel("TAC_CH_10_SEL", PIN_A, PIN_B, PIN_C, PIN_D); since i am in VR id just like to have a pothat so i can push left or right to change the channel. i dont understand bcdwheel at all so im not sure if its possible.
  8. also i just noticed u run MSAA at x4 i found i got really good preformance gains turning this off completely as talked about in jabbers dcs vr guide.
  9. hi i previously ran a pimax 4k and i am now running the vive. my system is an old i7-2600k 3.4ghz 24gb ddr3 ram a gtx1070ti and a $50 ssd drive. i would say you are expecting to much from VR, my system i would run the pimax 4k with 1.7 pd and everything on low apart from cockpit textures and visual range and i could read every panel in the m2000 and i could spot aircraft at a much higher distance then the vive. if you have never used a vive or oculus and get the chance u will see how much better the visuals are in the pimax 4k however the tracking and build quality is the down side. even though your pc is kick ass i would set medium settings and fine tune from there
  10. this has been a thing for awhile now with the vive controller emulation with leap motion. which looks good in these videos but in a cockpit full of switches i found it is not good due to 1 point of tracking so if u turn your hand and your leap looses view of your fingers it flips out on you and hits a bunch of switches.
  11. hi guys im running a pimax 4k , have been for about 2 years, i read on the pimax forums that pitool works with the 4k as previously we had to use piplay. anyway since installing pitool i had really bad pc performance overall and wasn't sure what was going on untill my good friend remotely connected to my pc and found that pi.service was eating all my available ssd space until it was at around 500mb and the pc blue screened. after noticing that i uninstalled pitool and my pc is fixed. long story short is anyone else having issues like this with pimax software.
  12. has anyone used arduino and weighted motors to implement vibration feedback in their pit. is it possible or is the only way through buying a premade cushion.
  13. just thought id share this guys vids as he has some interesting ones that could help with anyone designing their own panels.
  14. as for gaming and having a vr pit , i have the pit next to my desk and i have dual monitors for everything else and at the very most i just have to plug in the vr headset when i want to fly. you could use your old pc once you upgrade to run all your normal games and have a dedicated flight sim pc as this will help to make vr run smoother if the pc is not full of crap.
  15. burnsy, each person is different. some people will fly with an fps counter in the corner and even if they enjoy them self if the fps drops under 60 they crack it. while others can fly with 30 fps and enjoy it no worries. my advise is to post up to see if anyone in your area has a setup you can have a go on and see for yourself. you never know us aussies are normally willing to help each other out like that :P
  16. small update but not small work load, still heaps to do on this part including cutting side panel holes for the right side build the top section, build the bottom cosmetics for the butt plate and then deck it out with decals and 3d printed parts so it looks less like mdf haha. im 90kg and it holds my weight fine so its ok.
  17. little update today but not alot on the physical side of the pit. put together the mount for the head down display so it sits at the right angle. started getting the plans for the ejection seat and side panels done to pdf and also been learning abit more fusion 360 , however i find it really difficult in some parts and i will likely just wait for dimebugs files when they go for sale. this one i may print as a desk weight :P
  18. in australia it goes for around $700 to $800 for the hotas. i have a logitech 3d pro which is modified with a heavy spring and an extension and even under those forces the 95% plastic joystick is still working flawlessly 8 years on. if the warthog was to come down to 300 aud i might consider it but id probably look at virpil first.
  19. thanks, you set the path now i just have to follow it :D i hope soon i can get throttle grip and stick grip, i will start on the ejection seat soon but a simpler version.
  20. bit more work on the pit today and its starting to get really exciting. some errors found along the way due to plans made for sheet metal and im using wood. but i still think it will do the job and look the part.
  21. finally found some time and motivation to do abit more work on this. few hours on the scroll saw and i have this.
  22. bit more progress over the week. starter panel in progress and radio panels in progress. since its a VR pit i went with a rocker style button setup rather then a rotary dial like the real aircraft, as i wont need to see the numbers changing on the physical panel. printing is done at a lower quality for testing purposes to save on time.
  23. Your one looked to have more detail, since ill be flying in vr i dont need the details or leds which makes it a very simple process to build with such noce models avaliable. Hard parts are modeling push button mounts for behind the panels.
  24. firstly id like to give full credit for this being a possibility to MATBOG who has put in the hard work modeling the M2000 and providing his model for free. his build is here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=170097 so to start i exported parts of matbogs model and put them into a printable format. i decided to try print the left MIP as a test but my printer has limited size so i had to cut and join it which im not happy with, im already in talks with a local small business that has a laser cutter and may be able to help by cutting the main parts from thin plywood :P progress so far. note the software did mess up the main panel and it was very late and i didnt catch it. the autopilot panel cut out got removed and the comms display got turned into 2 holes rather then just 1  either way this whole thing was 1 nights work. so im pretty pleased. the gear indicator was my first test to see if printing the files was possible. i made it in 2 parts and added paper and coloured in the holes , not perfect but still makes me grin. i will be modeling some switch caps and buttons needed for the panels while i continue to print more stuff.
  25. ive tried it with a leap motion , press a button to switch to camera view for taking notes. however the cameras are IR filtered so not practical. leap motion itself is not good for interacting with small items like a cockpit as it only tracks from 1 directions so if your finger is blocked by another finger it flips out on you and there are to many switches is dcs for that to be ok.
