  1. nice to see another west ozzie on this side of dcs world. im up gero way and have a ender 3 arriving tomorrow. do you buy your filament locally or online, cheers.
  2. i think the optimization is the biggest thing to look forward to, my old pimax 4k on a 1070ti and 10 year old pc allows me to read everything and see the ball even on low settings so being able to turn them up some is going to make a massive difference.
  3. im not sure if you mean the standard radio where u contact atc and ground and tankers but mine works fine. i have it set to a button on my hotas to bring up the menus then i look at which one i want and press the button on my hotas to select it ?
  4. are those bottle caps ? looks great.
  5. hi loving the improvements of this bird, is there an option to have the brakes controlled similar to the L39 where u have 1 button for brakes and u select which side to engage via deflecting the rudder pedals. when flying in VR without pedals and toe brakes it means u loose 2 buttons on the hotas which are very valuable and ive already run off the taxi way more times then id like to admit from trying to find the keys on my keyboard lol. again this module is pure quality you should be proud.
  6. if u mount the stick just below the cushion of your seat u can use a straight extension. then use axis tuning to make sure u dont need to rip it back into your balls.
  7. i would start with learning a basic circuit. from there i would learn basic navigation. once u can fly the aircraft to and from an airfield without thought u can start learning the weapons systems. best thing you can do is get online with people that are keen to practice with you and also teach. i would invite you to join my guys but we still fly 1.5.8
  8. thats not normal wd40 , they have a massive range wd40 is their brand the white lithium grease is great on sliders i actually use it on the display sliding mitre saws at my work.
  9. ok i got you now. u want the mouse in its own dimension. i honestly dont have issues on eiher, i have gyro tracking though not ir like most headsets
  10. you all know if you go to the VR menu in settings and click "use mouse" it unlocks it from your headset tracking and u can move it freely with the actual mouse right ? or have i missed the point of this thread ? its been this way since dcs world implemented VR in 1.5. however i personally find it more unnatural to have to look in the general direction of a switch then reach blindly for a mouse and then gain orientaion of the mouse to the screen and guide it to said switch when i can simply glance down "even in the m2000 to the far back panels" press a button on my throttle assigned to mouse click then look back up within a matter of seconds. if i was in a formation i couldnt use the mouse to control things or id hit my wingman lol
  11. the good guys normally have the cheaper brand tv's that are UHD 55inch for around $500, a place like that if u walked in and said you wanted to buy 3 tv's they would do you a good price, just depends how picky you are with brands.
  12. same here , very jerky for small adjustments in formations with any tension on it.
  13. ill agree , i have the pimax 4k which has its only headphones that plug into it and the strap passes through them, sound quality is great and the comfort is better then anything else ive tried, but they didnt include a microphone on the 4k for some rediculous reason so i use some raser headphones which are great but its an extra cable to the pc.
  14. i tried the flyinside standalone flight simulator lastnight and its a step forward but i still think the leap motion is to limited in tracking ability to acuratly control a cockpit while flying. i could push the throttles and stuff like that alot better but then u go to grab your joystick and u hit about 5 switches on the way. i personally think you would be better off trying to implement leap motion hand models for the simple use of signals to wingmen in formations. good work though.
  15. i live north west aus and i have my flight pc in the garage with no cooling. vr does get sweaty but a projector is basicly a small heater. when i ran 2 of them in a small room they would turn off after 10 mins due to overheating. me personally if i was not using vr id got for 3 large screens in a 90degree setup , like this probably cost about the same as 1 projector but gives u a better picture and in a dark room you wouldnt notice much else.
  16. i tried similar with a cheap projector a few years back and while it worked using warping software the edge of the image and the center of the image were at different focal points so u had to choose what u wanted to be clear or blury.
  17. Hi jabbers nice review, id just like to let you know it is called pie max. the original 4k model uses raspberry pi hardware and i believe thats the reason they went with the name. also their logo is the pi symbol :P did you ever try the pimax 4k and the leap motion hand tracker. if so can you comment on improvements between the 4k and 5k sde cheers
  18. do you know about vr zoom ? i have a pimax 4k a 1070ti and the rest of the pc is 10 years old and i can read everything in the cockpit with vr zoom. and im still flying 1.5, i believe 2.5 has higher res textures in the cockpits. as for motion sickness, some people are really sensitive and it takes time to get used to it.
  19. hello id like to ask if anyone can confirm if the yak52 is compatible with dcs world 1.5 i prefer to fly 1.5 on medium then 2.5 on low due to pc hardware. on the store it states 2.5.2 or above however this is for all aircraft and i currently use a number of modules in 1.5 that now state 2.5.2 is required. any confirmation would be appreciated thanks.
  20. im happy with mine but its probably because i dont have the money to spend on a more expensive unit, most of my hardware is recycled and old so im able to enjoy low end gaming as its better then nothing, while all the young guys that live off their parents and have $5000 computers expect a VR headset to be better the a high end gaming monitor. i would however only buy at this point in time if you could get one for around $200. as pimax kinda stopped supporting it software wise and there is bound to be a new vr unit out soon to bring prices down
  21. hi all , im just wondering if its at all possible to use a ffb gaming wheel for vibrations only. i just picked up a G27 driving wheel for $50 and it had a second gear stick assembly that had some damage to the 5th 6th and reverse gear so i have messed with it abit and now i use the gear stick as my landing gear lever and the buttons come in handy to. however i have to have the wheel hooked up and im wondering if i can bolt it to the back of my custom flight chair and install some software to have it vibrate while i fly accordingly. any help appreciated thanks
  22. pretty basic to wire up but u might run into issues with rotation speed and also interference depending on the quality of the encoder. i wired some upto the Mirage2000 and i found that trying to set the hdg bug was really slow no matter how fast u turn it. real ones detect speed im sure and u can to fine adjustments or big movements while the dcs bios one only did fine adjustments.
  23. i got the pimax 4k for 2 main reasons . firstly the price and secondly the fact it had lower system requirements. even on my low end pc with PD at 1.0 i can read gauges quite well. where as if i had an oculus id likely not be able to use it.
  24. even with supportt its not better then gloves as leap motion cant track your fingers through your hands so u cant naturally move your hand around u have to hold them so they are visible to the leap motion camera which is awkward in a small cockpit.
  25. the problem i found when using leap in dcs as oculus controllers was that u need to be very accurate to click a small switch that paired with tracking your trigger finger as the click function as soon as u turn your wrist to get into position it stops tracking your index finger. its good in fsx as u just make a pointing hand and place the finger on the switch for 2 seconds and it toggles it or u can grab throttles and so on. one of the best features ive found in flyinside is the see through camera function. assign a joystick button to it and u can basicly switch between the simulator and the leap motions camera. its not perfect as its very wide angle and very bright IR but with a good sized black texter and a note pad u can make notes. if i got some maps printed in the right colouring i bet they would work to.
