Christmas Eve / Press Photos
grifnizzle replied to Pyrocumulous's topic in Spitfire LF Mk.IX Beware! Beware! Campaign
ahh, ok, I thought for a second it was judging me for crappy formation flying, or a less than impressive break on the second pass, or not waving to the crowd as I passed by. I mean, all would have been valid criticisms lol -

Question: what is required to get 100 in the photo op? I got an 80 and I'm just curious what I messed up on. -
correct as is AI SPITFIRE BOMBS NOT DETONATING
grifnizzle replied to Rene Coulon's topic in Bugs and Problems
I updated my thread, plugging tail fuze gave 100% detonation rate. Still curious if that's "accurate" or not but for now good enough for me -
Spitfire MkIV bombs (250 & 500) very high rate of failure (no boom)
grifnizzle replied to grifnizzle's topic in Weapon Bugs
So finally had a chance to redo my test with tail fuze plugged, and SOB if it doesn't work. 100% boom rate. Question still stands why equipping tail fuze causes such inconsistency, maybe that's the way its 'supposed' to work? Be nice to get some clarification on that, but for now I'll accept DON'T USE BOTH NOSE AND TAIL FUZE as the solution. Updated track for proof spittybombs broken questionmark TAIL PLUGGED.trk -

So does tail fuze HAVE to be plugged? I haven't had a chance to retest yet but I've been having problems with Spit bombs as well, not AI, player (me) released. -

As stated in original post I started at 10k, track file will show I performed releases at various altitudes in active pause, all were inconsistent in detonation -

ok then not relevant to my example, both nose and tail fuze at default, which I'll have to check again in the ME but I do believe was 0 seconds, with 6 rotations for the arming vanes -

So tail fuze HAS to be plugged? That's never been a thing before, why would it matter now? That said I'll give it a whirl, see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the heads up. -
I noticed a very high failure rate while bombing in the Spitfire. I made a quick mission with Spit starting out at 10k ft a few miles north of Kobuleti dropping in the large open field from various positions while in active pause to make sure the release parameters were the same for multiple releases (unlimited weapons was on). Over at 50% failure rate of the weapons to detonate. Track included spittybombs broken questionmark.trk

Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев
grifnizzle replied to Supmua's topic in Virtual Reality
Tried the desktop shortcut method (won't launch/crashes right after chief logo pops up), and adding argument to properties in steam itself (half and half won't launch/launches normally with no difference/steam overlay). Anyone else use steam (I know, I know! I have my reasons) and rockin' an Aero? Niche within a niche within a niche, I get it, but fingers crossed cause I'm flummoxed -
Posted in the Aero set up thread but figured I'd ask here too in case anyone had any tips/ideas: Been fiddling with my new Aero this week and having issues really dialing in the cross eye tool. Swapping top/bottom for both eyes improved the image 95%, but getting that last bit dialed in where there's no more 'double cursors' in the cockpit anywhere is proving elusive. Everytime I try to adjust the slides beyond the 'swapped top/bottom' values I just end up making it worse and having to start all over again. Any tips/tricks for a smoothbrain?

So when I hit start in steam and it gives the 3 options ("Play DCS", "Launch in SteamVR Mode", "Launch in Oculus VR Mode"), selecting SteamVR mode isn't sufficient? -
Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев
grifnizzle replied to Supmua's topic in Virtual Reality
Been trying to tweak my new Aero for the past week and I'm still confused on a few things. First of all, I'm running the game via steam, not stand alone. Do I still have to include the -- force_steamVR command? Isn't that redundant if I'm launching from Steam? For the heck of it I tried making the desktop shortcut with the command line add anyway it DCS just wouldn't launch. Also having issues really dialing in the cross eye tool. Swapping top/bottom for both eyes improved the image 95%, but getting that last bit dialed in where there's no more 'double cursors' in the cockpit anywhere is proving elusive. Does the OpenXR mod work with the Index? Or is it only a WMR thing?
-
so to make sure I got this right, under IFEO select new > Key (DCS.EXE), then under that new > key again (PerfOptions), then under THAT new > dword (32bit) and "CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000003 that bout right?
-
Thank you sir. And yea, I get in hindsight asking if I had to ADD the dcs.exe key seems dumb, but, well, I AM dumb and I just wasn't sure if it was the "CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000003 I was supposed to add only and the missing dcs.exe part meant I had a problem. In short I am very smoothbrained and I thank you again for your big wrinkly brain

@speed-of-heat Hey pard, as always hope this finds you well. I recently did an fresh install of windows on a new harddrive so I'm going thru all the rig tuning in this thread and Thud4DCS's page again, but I'm a little stumped on the changing CPU priority part here: I don't remember doing this last time so was hoping you could answer some questions for me. 1) Why WindowsNT path and not Windows? 2) DCS.exe doesn't appear under either path, do I add it manually with the "New > Key" option? and finally 3) is this the same as changing the priority in Task Manager but on a 'permanent' basis?

so someone from the info@winwing.cn email is trying to help me with takeoff panel issue but they want me to download something called Teamviewer to gain remote access to my computer. Has anyone else worked with winwing tech support this way? Little hesitant for hopefully obvious reasons Update: To anyone that was curious about the resolution of this: while waiting for teamviewer connection I saw ver 1.6.3 of simapp got released. went ahead and downloaded it and restarted and son of a bitch if it didn't work! firmware update commenced, lights came back on, and all the buttons work in simapp pro. booted up dcs real quick and confirmed it recognized the panel as well!
-
not info@wwsimstore.com ?
-
So I picked up the Take Off Panel and was very stoked...for about 5 minutes. Was playing around with the different settings, changing axis to buttons and back again in SimApp Pro which was cool, then I went to update the firmware and..SimApp crashed. And now my panel is dead. Tried switching to different usb ports, uninstalling and reinstalling simapp, nothing. And no 'support' page, just an email who knows I'll have to wait for a response. Not feeling real good about this purchase so far. Anyone know if there's a way to manually flash or reset the panel? Simapp won't even recognize it anymore

Using 5+ button mice/trackballs in DCS?
grifnizzle replied to grifnizzle's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to see if there's some kind of similar functionality with the trackball. I guess that would be the solution to making VR zoom and Spyglass zoom work as well. -
tl;dr: is there a way to assign mouse button 4, 5, and beyond? More specifically, to functions VR Zoom and VR Spyglass Zoom? So VR is rad. It's certainly a 'compromised' experience and has a bit of a learning curve but love it warts and all. One of the things I found really helpful after watching I think Jabber's video specifically was getting a trackball strapped to my thigh for clicking in the pit. First one I bought was super cheap 2 button set up and worked fine. But as time went on I found myself using HOTAS buttons for things like VR zoom/spyglass zoom and kneeboard/map functions that I wished I could move to something else so I could free up those buttons/switches for things that should actually be on the HOTAS. So I decided to get a fancier 6 button trackball thinking having kneeboard controls on something that actually sits where a kneeboard would would be cool, plus really didn't want to waste any of those precious stick buttons on things that weren't related to making things go boom. However, after hooking up my fancy new trackball, I found that even when I bound mouse button 4, 5, and 6 to various commands, nothing happens. Even more aggravating, controls UI will not let me assign ANY mouse button to either VR zoom or VR spyglass zoom PERIOD. Am i missing something? Is there a way to make this work?? Am I a moron confirmed??? Edit: just to be clear, I WAS able to assign mouse button 4, 5, and 6 (in different combinations, tried a couple of different bindings while troubleshooting this) to kneeboard, kneeboard forward and kneeboard back, but even when assigned while pressing those buttons in flight kneeboard never came up. And again, couldn't even get to assign any of those buttons to the aforementioned zoom functions as the option in controls menu simply doesn't seem to exist, could click or right click a thousand times on those lines and nothing comes up to allow the assignment. Standard right and left mice buttons work as normal for clicking things in the pit or menus but that's it, basically has same functionality as my 2 button trackball. Also for the hell of it I tried assigning some of the 12+ buttons on my Corsair gaming mouse (Scimitar Pro if it matters) and same thing, the game seems to only recognize right and left buttons. Is this some kind of limitation of DCS period? Am I SOL?

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
grifnizzle replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Quick question: with the patch coming out today should I 'uninstall' the shaders mod before patching? Does that matter? I've heard it referenced for other mods like the A4 community mod but wasn't sure if such a precaution would be applied to these as well. As always, if this was answered in a previous post 1000 times I apologize, didn't see it mentioned in my search attempts -
Minor thing, but I've noticed that when using the B channel to contact ATC to request start up/taxi/take off/azimuth/inbound/or landing, there's never a response. I've tried using different airports from the list thinking I was just selecting the wrong FOB and none of them answer the comm.
