  1. Ever listened to some Techno in the early 90s ? I knew that voice reminded me of something...
  2. Yeah that was quite a thing, i remember Thx for the data - kind of tells me it´s not just on my end
  3. F15E works just perfect. Whatever radar mode i use here, nothing impacts performance on a noticeable level. Another reason i wasn´t conviced the CPU would bottleneck here, but from what you wrote i understand it just might.
  4. It is Hasn´t had a struggle since, part of why it´s still doing a great job. Guess i´ll wait for optimization before i start building a new PC.
  5. Currently using 64GB on a 6700K, combined with a 3070GPU I own all maps and almost all airframes, no issues anywhere, not even on high demanding maps. Since this is an issue ONLY with the F4E radar operation, i have so far not thought about the specs being a factor...
  6. Quite frequently, i notice a massiv FPS drop - from down to 20FPS to even lower 1-2 FPS - obviously caused by the radar. As soon as it turns on, e.g. during takeoff, my game starts a slidehow, then after approx. 5 seconds, everything´s back to normal. Same while cruising at altitude, doing nothing besides cloud surfing: FPS drop to 1-2 for some seconds, then back up again, leaving myself wondering behind those ray-bans "wtf?". This issue seems to occur every now and then during any flight, any map and any environmental condition - single and multiplayer. Only with the F4E and only with radar active. Turning the radar OFF resolves it for now. No drops, no stuttering. Atm i have no clue what may cause this, i just fly without radar for now (If only jester would NOT turn it on automatically after takeoff....). Any ideas what could be the issue here ? Anyone having similar experiences ?
  7. That´s great to hear.
  8. For AAR i usually order Jester to put radar in standby mode. Frequently, during refuel, he starts calling out contacts - having the radar working again as seen on the front screen. After repeating my order "radar standby", he then copies and the radar will remain silent for the rest of the flight unless told otherwise. I still don´t get why sometimes he turns the music back on. Is there a reason he does that by himself ? Any way to actually avoid this ?
  9. I appreciate your point of view. Maybe i´m too old to understand what this ranting is all about, simply for not wanting my threat to go off topic. But well, since we´re already there - and to your amusement indeed in a longer version than my initial topic - we may as well continue. Feel free
  10. I really don´t see things that way I opened this threat here for the issue with tanker calling transfer complete too early on the phantom. The moment some posts started drifting into the old "mprs/boom/why not both/maybe modding it" discussion - which is quite a different topic - i pointed that out. Being salty about that is a logic that fails to convince me, on the other hand maybe it doesn´t have to. Have it your way then.
  11. highjacking a thread and being mad about me pointing that out - you might want to get your day straight my friend Just relax.
  12. can we stay on topic please ? The MPRS / Non-MPRS Tanker thing has been discussed over and over, i´m sure you will find a better fitting thread here somewhere
  13. I thought so but wondered about the "transfer complete" message. And i did not get the disconnect light at all, which was why i didn´t think i fell off the boom. But well, i find it kind of the only reason atm explaining this . As mentioned above, i did cycle again and plugged a 2nd time. That seemed to work.
  14. So the last AARs i did with 2 externals i found a bit odd. I connected with empty bags and around 6.5 total fuel left. Transfer was good until at around 10.0 the tanker told me "transfer complete - disconnect". I wondered: "how ? 10.0 is not even a full INTERNAL ?" I then called again, went into precontact, connected again and got my 2nd drink. This time, my internals got maxed, externals too. I can´t really tell what i might have done wrong since the tanker was telling "transfer complete". It´s not that i fell off the boom... Anyone else got a similar experience ? Anything i have to take special care of when using externals ?
  15. I think you want to understand how fuel flow is directed in the Phantom. It´s a bit different from what one might be used to The external tanks warning lights are ON when there is NO fuel flow from those tanks into your internal tanks. That might be a) because they are empty or b) because your internals are still full (above 10500 total iirc) In both cases you will see the green lights on. They should go blank when your externals start flow again to refill your internal total, then illuminate again when flow stops. This repeats several times until your externals are empty. You can´t really "see" if your bags are empty. You CAN however tell by looking at your total fuel. The totalizer shows your INTERNAL total fuel - that is internal main + internal wing tanks. If the totalizer drops below 10 and your external tank lights are still ON, those externals are most likely empty. If they are, be sure to reset your external tank feed switch back to the middle position, otherwise your fuel in your internal wing tanks won´t get transferred to your main tanks and the totalizer will show more than you actually got available.
  16. Then the manual is kind of misleading null
  17. Shouldn´t there be a mode for combined usage of multiple pods in a formation, carried by 2 or more aircraft ? Afaik DCS doesn´t simulate that (yet) but the pod may be able to handle more than itself.
  18. worth testing i guess. Haven´t entered the office yet since the patch dropped. Any information in the changelog ?
  19. Haven´t seen this in a while, not doing IFA that often Only thing i noticed is that i have to turn on DL and MIDS after alignment is complete, even so the manual says otherwise - doing so before often ends up in my own Datalink not functioning. Maybe a bug ? Also when having trouble with GPS, switching it off and on again usually works..
  20. Exactly, that´s why i was wondering. On a mission, you most likely will overwrite your markpoints, so punching in home coords during startup seems the only thing that is both realistic enough and functional - if you don´t get your steerpoints from DTC. At the same time, i´m quite surprised that the Viper won´t provide a home/initial point, such a streamlined user experience overall but this one feature is just not there
  21. Quite a nice idea, although the "proper" way would be punching in those points yourself on the DED. Anyways, i wonder if there´s an answer to my actual question out there
  22. Thanks but no, that wasn't quite what i meant I know about navigation alternatives, no problem in actually finding a way home. Not all fields do have tcn also asking tower for direction is not how it is supposed to be I'm interested in whether there is a convenient way to route back home as described in my first post or if the Viper doesn't offer that kind of assistance.
  23. Been a while since i last moved the Viper. I was wondering: Does it provide any reference steerpoint to my initial position, like the WP0 on the Hornet or B on the F15E ? Atm i just throw a MP on the runway or use the regular tools like tcn to find my way back home, i guess there might be a more convenient way to this ?
  24. Well, even if you take the vertical stabs placement in account - where there is a "need" on the F16 to eject significantly higher - that still seems quite low indeed.
  25. Seit Kurzem ? Das sehe ich seit Jahren
