  1. Where is that install info ?
  2. It was in gaming mode.:(
  3. Well it was AVG 2011... I suspended AVG and the black screen at program loading time and when coming back from a mission is now about 23 seconds. Much better than 2.5 minutes at start and a minute at the end of a mission. Thanks everyone, happy simming (and blowing up). Now to find a way to suspend AVG for more than 15 minutes during gaming...
  4. Here its is...maybe there is something obvious...not to me. Not seeding now, the HD is SATA 6GB/s. I will try without AVG just to see. The startup screen takes 2min 35sec and the black screen (with music) after a mission is a full minute. I have 12 GB of 1600Mhz DDR3 tripple channel memory
  5. DXdiag For Nate--IRL-- DxDiag.txt
  6. again... me.log.txt
  7. sorry, I am trying to upload the attachment, I probably am not doing it right...will try again, maybe tomorrow...
  8. OK Nate, here is the log edit: sorry, I am trying to upload the attachment, I probably am not doing it right...will try again, maybe tomorrow...
  9. I have huge (several minutes with a black screen and music) loading times when the game starts and when a mission ends. A lot longer than before. Otherwise FPS is greatly increased with both TGP and MAV over a city...excellent. More eye candy too. But am I the only one with those loading times ?
  10. Got setup-2.bin now and MD5 is OK, installing...
  11. Got it all but setup-2.bin is corrupt (wrong MD5) Seeding while downloading setup-2.bin again...
  12. OK, I just presumed the laser was visible since the pointer was infrared. Sometimes one presumes without realizing it... It makes a lot of sense, otherwise the target would be painted with a very bright light ! Louis
  13. OK, there are two lasers, one visible and one infrared. One is called the laser, the other the IR pointer but they are technically two lasers. I guess not to confuse the two in a high stress situation.
  14. F-14A Next DCS aircraft There could be a few clues here: 1- In 2009 ED wanted info on carriers, the Carl Vinson in particular (CVN-70) 2- Kelly McGillis (from interview) means Top-Gun which means carrier and... 3- As far as I know no good sim has ever been done on the... 4- I'm sure it is declassified. So F-14A and/or F-14D ? Wasn't the Vinson on Top-Gun ? Why is almost nobody guessing the F-14 ? AC-130U Gunship is what ED has been working on for quite a while: http://www.thebattlesim.com/index.php?end_pos=3&scr=newslist&lang=en That's the Hercules with a huge gun on the side...that would be interesting...
  15. Old habits die hard I guess...
  16. I always thought of the sleep mode as a laptop thing. Also I got burned by a bad experience with an older machine. Maybe the sleep setup was wrong...anyway I got into the habit of powering down 2 or 3 times a day instead of putting it to sleep, even if the temps do go up after a powerdown as the fans stop immediately and there is still a lot of heat left over. Lou
  17. No Teej, on shutdown the lights keep going (didn't try 'sleep'. Sleep is not good for OC'd computers, it tends to make the temp rise too much) unless I use your idea of plugging into the monitor USB. Maybe it is a question of BIOS update (75 on mine). Lou
  18. Had problems but pulled through... I did the firmware update and it froze...:helpsmilie: I restarted after killing the process (suicidal...) and the firmware # on the stick was now 0 instead of 9, the stick was now seen by the system only by the bulk driver...I freaked (internally). I was convinced I had bricked the stick. Well...then I realized my mistake: the stick and throttle were plugged into USB 3.0 ports (EVGA X58 FTW3) which worked fine with the Warthog (and my old X52 Pro, I now realize) until the firmware upgrade. Plugging the whole thing into USB 2.0 ports solved the problem and the stick reported back a firmware #9 as before. And everything was back to normal. Doing the upgrade then went just fine. But the lights are on when the computer is off and that bothers me. Other than that, this is a re-definition of joysticks...Its just awesome. Lou Edit: I plugged the throttle in USB monitor port, so that shutting down the screen shuts down the throttle. Got that from Teej , great idea. Problem solved.
  19. Throttle: 02253 Montreal, Canada. Interesting, not too far from Austria...
  20. When you have a powerful cpu, then it becomes gpu limited, like the beta is on my system right now. But then it hasn't been optimized yet. It is clearly visible on running graphs of my gpu (gtx480) and cpu, a 980x and 6-8-6 memory at 1600 Mhz. The 980x/Mushkin combination is not even bothered by this game, but the gpu goes to 99% quite a bit. Conclusion: probably no LOD management yet. Everything is at max.
