What ruined it for me is when the guy clicked to contact the tower, and I got a look at that out of place FSX menu. Please, ED, do this!

1500, 1800, 2200, 3000! These are all the numbers I have heard are the most effective to employ the new 97s with. Hmm, guess I will just have to check them out myself to see which one is best.

Like I said, if you are into sims and have the time and money, go for it. If you want a game, then, by all means, get HAWX. It will suit what you describe perfectly. It is the "point and shoot" that you describe. Oh and by the way, I am not trying to offend you at all :).

Yeah, I remember someone's post earlier about A-10 not really being designed for the game mode. They said that if you play it in the game mode, it is less enjoyable all around than when playing with all avionics on normal. Oh and by the way, yes I do intend to join the military some day, but not as an A-10C pilot. Why do I play it then? Becasue a bang em' up shoot em' up isn't very engaging. It doesn't have lasting value. They are popular for a year or so, then their successor is released or the author/publisher goes out of business and people forget about it. You can finish the "story modes" and try out all of the multiplayer things and take about five months, max, till you get bored of it becasue there is nothing else to do. You can't learn new things. I am still learning new things from the great multiplayer community and the game manual. For example, I am trying to learn how to do pop-up attacks and low altitude attacks even a year after I originally purchased, and just joined a virtual squadron. WE don't just mindlessly play boring "map" after "map," we make missions in the editor, shoot the breeze, goof off, and do other crazy sh*t besides playing the game. You don't even have to join a virtual squadron to have fun, or post on the forums regularly like I do, just do whatever you want to do, and not worry about having to put the disc in the attic and never touch it again.

Dude I am in high school in all honors classes and it still took me only a month to learn the sim avionics. Some good advice is, just learn what you need first, then slowly work your way towards more advanced techniques and avionics. Better yet just learn to fly first. Landing, taking off, trimming, etc... take it slow. Take me for example, I got the game when the bet a version just came out, and I knew everything within a month of play for just 45 minutes a day. Sim avionics are not as difficult as they sound, they just take patience.

I thought the proper HOF was 1800?
-
Viper, did you have to play around with the settings that you posted with the CBU-97? Do you know any good guidelines for using that weapon?
-
TARDIS? The machine from doctor who? Damn! I want that aircraft!
-
Dude, it's only 25 $, you should be able to afford that.
-
Ummm, yes they do. For no light situations, most soldier mounted NVGs will have an active infared emitter mounted, for the record :). And thank you for that informative post, Olgerd, you had us wondering there.
-
How do you know that the wavelength of the TGP laser doesn't match the wavelength detectable by the NVG?
-
Geskes, no the IR pointer is visible like it is because it reflects off of particles in the air, so the entire beam is visible. I have a pretty good understanding of what comes out of a laser, that is that the beam is in the electromagnetic spectrum under a specific frequency range called infared. This reflects off of matter just like anything else, and this is why it is visible by the NVGs
-
Exactly ethereal, the ir emitter on NVGs can only be seen when it reflects off other things, just like the laser on the TGP
-
OK, but think about regular NVGs. They have the infrared system for no light situations, so the NVG can pick up NVG light. The A-10's NVGs may not have the infared emitter, but they can still pick up infared light, which is what a laser emits. Lasers are infared light correct? So no matter what, the light will reflect, and be picked up by NVGs. The IR system reflects off particles in the air, this is why we see the entire beam. The Laser just reflects off the ground, this is why the bomb sees it and your NVGs see it.
-
Dude, buy a laser pointer. Turn it on and point it to a non mirror surface. Notice that the only spot you can see is the spot on the surface you are shining it on. Not the beam itself. This is physically correct, Olgerd.

Hmm. that's weird, must be an auto-detect feature of the DSMS, interesting. To change the HOFs of the CBUs you still need the inventory page.
-
No, No, No, No, don't do this. The Dsms load button only works when you've reloaded The same payload that you started with If you reload new ordnance, you then must manually reload the system, by going to the inventory page and using that functionality to change the digital payload.

Are multiple mavericks allowed on a single run? paulrkii's Training documents suggest otherwise. (Not trying to be annoying or anything!): )

Laser "endurance", Laser getting too hot ?
jazjar replied to JaBoG32_Prinzartus's topic in Bugs and Problems
It's an American laser, not a russian one, so it lasts forever! (IDK!) -
The video card shouldn't matter all that much. DCS A -10 C, for me, takes up a lot of processing power, and not too much video card usage. However, I will be getting a dual 6870 and 5770 combo for thanksgiving, so there is my graphics processing unit right there.
-
Anyways, the 1110 FLIR contrast problems have been fixed anyway and the res was great in the first place.
-
So wait, VDL is the video sharing datalink capability for the Sniper? And what is ROVER? Is it similar?
-
It's the most realistically modelled Sniper for simulation gaming...can you do better ED, does the give a hint as to what the next module will be? ( F-18 uses ATFLIR, not sniper xr, but you knew that :) .)

Jeez... no violinists here I guess...

What about for women? Just Kidding! It had to be said!
