  1. Exactly, and I learned quick it's best to just take all the targets out then radio them to move. I would think 4 M1A1's would make little work of two T-72's but I guess not. Yeah, it's funny but I really wanted to get into this campaign and when that happens I usually just restart the campaign because I don't want fratricide on my logbook. When the F-16 hit me the first time, I had just changed views and when I came back I seen a pilot parachuting down onto my A-10. I was so confused, just a second ago I was alone now there's a burning F-16 and a pilot on my fuselage.
  2. DCS A-10C is the only module I play. I'd be very interested in this but I'm only 28 years old. I can manage the A-10C fairly well and know about 90% of the systems. There's a few things I don't do often enough to be proficient in.
  3. So I've been playing since LOMAC, played BS and the A-10C Beta years ago. I eventually sold my computer and quit playing before A-10C was fully released. I'm a HUGE fan of DCS. Long story short I recently got back into it and feel like I've learned enough to tackle the campaign. I downloaded 1.5 Beta but every single mission crashed when I played it. I gave up and played 2.0 Alpha NTTR for a while. I recently upgraded my GPU and HDD to a SSD and downloaded 1.5 full release. The crashing is mostly gone. I've only had one mission crash after landing once. My problem is that I can't get past the first two missions without something going wrong on the games end to be able to advance. I played the second mission last night where I had to escort Elm and Razor. I've failed this mission once before because two T-72's managed to destroy 4 M1A1's without taking a single hit. I was out of ammo and my wingman was hit and returning to base. This time I made sure to clear all of the targets before commanding Elm and Razor to advance. They we're taking a very long time and knowing that the battlefield was clear I decided to land. I shut the A-10C down but in a previous mission I had an F-16 taxi into my plane and blow us up. So I fired my engines back up in case I had to move while I was waiting for Elm and Razor to reach their checkpoint and get a mission complete. While waiting I was switching from unit to unit enjoying DCS in action when I switched back to my A-10 at Batumi, my wingman and six F-16's vanished right off the tarmac. The only thing left was a pilot that was standing next to his plane. A few minutes later, a couple of A-10's spawned out of nowhere and one of them spawned directly on top of my plane. Of course we caught and both died. Elm and Razor reached their destination and I got 100% complete but now my logbook says I died and I committed fratricide and lost all my combat score. So this must of been what happened the first time with the F-16 as well. Why are there planes vanishing and reappearing at Batumi? Here's the only screen I have after I shut down. Notice the F-16's in the top right of the screen Three minutes later they're all vanished Four minutes later this guy is on top of me It's extremely frustrating because I enjoy the game so much but I am constantly running into problems like this. Not including the JTAC that only responds to me ~60% of the time and I have to request and repeat over and over. If this was still BETA, I'd ignore it like I have for the last several years but this is supposed to be full release now.
  4. Have you tried opening your comms and pressing F10 for "Other" and selecting the flight that is labeled "CAP". You have to wait until they're on station before you can request it. I haven't gotten to mission 4 yet because of game issues but that's how it is on mostly every other mission.
  5. Was there a drawing this past weekend?
  6. I think there's more to this video. If somebody modeled this thing on their own, they'd be claiming it. I know if I made something this nice, I'd want people to know it's mine. When I watched the video it reminded me if Glowing Amraam's videos. I feel like there's some similarities to his videos and this mysterious video. Even back when he did his Project X video, he was focusing on new water physics. There's also a video he did with Black Shark 2 of him landing on a ship on rocky waters. He said that ED requested him to make a video showcasing a vehicle landing on a ship in rough waters. I also think it's the same model that "SuperVaisa" had posted before. There's many similarities like tow tractor placement on both carriers (very close). This is obviously a newer and more detailed look at it, but I believe it's the same model. Then there's the obvious things, like the time the video was published, the account it was published from, etc. etc. Some quick examples... I'm on a work computer so they're not very well put together. Here's a picture from SimHQ about the carrier posted on the ED Russian forum by SuperVaisa. Notice how the white tow tractor is in the same exact place, along with the textures and other parts of the carrier. Here's the carrier from the recent video The video uses a lot of similar effects that Glowing Amraam use like when the screen fades black and transitions to another scene and this blue light Project X video End of the recent video, with similar effects Amraam uses I'm excited for a possible F/A-18C release and Carrier ops and it's fun to speculate.
  7. It'll all come back fairly easily. I stopped playing the A-10C back in 2010 during the BETA. I always felt the terrain didn't match the fidelity of the A-10C and it felt out of place. Once I heard NTTR was being released soon, I hopped back in and the A-10C feels great in the new map. I can't wait for Strait of Hormuz! Welcome back!
  8. HAHA this is SO TRUE, coming from a father of a 3 yeard old and 7 month old. Although I just press the PAUSE BREAK button lol. It's like when my INS is "NAV READY" it sends a signal to my daughter (7 month old) and wakes her up from nap time, every time. She could of just woke up before I spent 10 minutes starting the A-10C. My son just repeats "PULL UP PULL UP" and "ALTITUDE ALTITUDE" every time I fly
  9. Entered, thanks for the opportunity.
  10. It's been posted already. I posted it here as well but it was moved to the A-10C section. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=153951 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=155212
  11. Tonight at Nellis I requested an aircraft repair and after a countdown the A-10C was jacked up into the air, some panels opened up, repairs made and lowered back to the ground. Is this new in 2.0? I only did one repair in 1.5 and I don't remember that happening. Hard to see in the picture but it's fully suspended in the air
  12. I'll see if I can get a track up tonight. It's an hour long flight so I may try and make a new one that's short and to the point. I did read somewhere that they were changing the landing physics. I landed on runway 3R last night and didn't have this happen. EDIT: It very well could have been more lift versus pitch. At the time I felt like it pitched up but I'll have to review the track and pay closer attention. That's exactly what it felt like, it felt as if my flaps extended and I gained lift. I maybe getting the TVV confused with pitch increase. I think the TVV rose when it happened and I assumed my plane pitched up. Here's where it was mentioned about the landing physics: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1931682&postcount=3
  13. I've had about four landings now at Nellis AFB. I was instructed by ATC to land on runway 21 (always picked 21L) each time I've landed. When I set my angle of attack and I'm coming down the glide slope everything is great, I trim the aircraft and continue descending. At least two or three separate times now right before touchdown the nose of the aircraft flares up at least 5-10 degrees on it's own. Anybody experience this? Now that I type this, I remember on one landing I tried to trim the nose up more but after pressing the trim button at least four times, the nose didn't rise. Not long after this is when I started to touch down and the nose shot up into the air as if it took the game a few seconds to register the trim input? I have a track saved that shows it if anybody is interested. I didn't have any problems like this in 1.5 and I haven't changed any controls or habits.
  14. I did a quick mission at 0400 with a ramp start. I turned my taxi lights on and noticed the light disappeared right after I turned it on. Once I started to taxi the light came back but it was offset from my nose landing gear. As I continued to taxi, the light would kind of snap from one place to another but it never snapped back to the nose gear. The only thing I did different is I enabled ground power first, started all of my systems and once my engines were running and A/C gens. powered, I disabled the ground power. Anybody else experience this yet?
  15. I actually work on Pax River as a Ground Support Equipment mechanic. There's a few new aircraft here for testing. They've got the F-35, X-47 UAV, P-8, and Triton UAV to name a few. They even have a steam catapult here that they've launched the F-35 off of. There's a bunch of F/A-18C's here that I've been drooling over while waiting for the DCS F/A-18C. They've got two or three EA-18 Growler's too. One of my coolest moments was walking on top of an F-18 to inspect a main aircraft sling. The plane was in "Shielded Hangar"; it's this wild hangar full of foam pyramids. The whole hangar is nearly sound proof, you basically have to yell for people a couple of feet away to hear you. They lift the aircraft into the air and do some sort of testing to them. The sling was already attached to the F-18 so I had to climb up the pilots ladder and inspect the sling on top of the plane. Very neat. Here's a picture I found from the same hangar: I would LOVE to see some A-10's here! I've seen some here years ago at Air Shows but they don't have many on Pax anymore.
  16. That was a good read, thanks! I'm about 1.5 hours south of Baltimore. Next to Patuxent River Naval Air Station
  17. Back when the A-10C was in Beta, I found a picture of a real A-10C on Google. In the picture the plane was powered up and the CDU screen was visible. I decided to take the L/L coordinates from the picture and see if I could find the position of the plane in the picture. Well, it worked. It was taken at Warfield National Guard, Maryland. Not far from my house in Maryland. I just got back into DCS after a few years hiatus. Just wanted to share and see if anybody else has done this? Here's the picture https://www.google.com/search?biw=1600&bih=809&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=a-10c+cockpit&oq=a-10c+cockpit&gs_l=img.3..0l2j0i5i30j0i24.5208.5208.0.5730.1.1.0.0.0.0.264.264.2-1.1.0....0...1.1.64.img..0.1.263.pZTtfOv-_sU#imgrc=P1EqsouBC0mUKM%3A Here's the link for google maps with the L/L already entered: https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B020'06.6%22N+76%C2%B025'15.3%22W/@39.3350314,-76.4214334,187m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0 I thought it was pretty neat!
  18. Hey, I haven't been on the forums since I stopped playing the A-10C Beta back in 2010-2011 so if this has been posted already, sorry. I did a quick search and didn't find a thread on it. This is a video of the Blue Angels that you can pan and zoom while watching. Very cool http://www.gannett-cdn.com/360player/kr-player-1.2/?url=http://www.gannett-cdn.com/360videos/BLUE_ANGELS/BLUEANGELS1920x960xSHORT.mp4&config=video.xml&type=video&title=Experience%20the%20Blue%20Angels%20in%20360-degree%20video&desc=Climb%20aboard%20Blue%20Angel%204%20in%20the%20%22slot%22%20position.%20Situated%20at%20the%20back%20corner%20of%20the%20Angels'%20signature%20diamond%20formation,%20you'll%20see%20the%20F/A-18%20Hornets%20flying%20inches%20from%20each%20other%20as%20they%20execute%20breathtaking%20maneuvers.&splash=http://www.gannett-cdn.com/360videos/BLUE_ANGELS/BLUEANGELSTHUMB.jpg&url_ios=http://www.gannett-cdn.com/360videos/BLUE_ANGELS/BLUEANGELS1280x640xSHORTNOAUDIO.mp4%7Chttp://www.gannett-cdn.com/360videos/BLUE_ANGELS/BLUEANGELSAUDIOxSHORT.mp3&config_ios=video.xml&src=vod
  19. Is it just me or does this make spotting targets easier? They stick out nicely now. I like it better!
  20. Hey, I'm selling my copy of The Modern Hog Guide: The A-10 Warthog Exposed. I bought it new in 2010 and it's in like new condition Here it is on eBay. I'll add pictures of the actual book tonight http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=191353714395#ht_194wt_1343 Thanks, Steven
  21. Press the "NAV" button on the CDU after the flashing "INS NAV READY". If you have the CDU repeater page displayed on an MFC you will see the "NAV" button on OSB 9? I think it is?
  22. Yes but any aircraft will get to see the sun and sky in all its beauty. I think most of the pilots on here turn the water to the lowest setting. Why add all of that detail with waves and rocking boats when most people are going to turn the detail down and be fighting inland? ;)
  23. http://www.derechos.org/nizkor/europa/caucasus/ossetia47.html "Talks on the passage of warships through the Bosporus and Dardanelles between Ankara, which controls the straits, and Washington have been going on for at least a week now" I'm not sure if a carrier could get through that pass with the bridges. The first bridge is a suspension bridge that has 210ft of clearance at sea level. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosphorus_Bridge The second bridge is also a suspension bridge that has 209ft of clearance at sea level. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatih_Sultan_Mehmet_Bridge
  24. I was in that formation (Harcust). I think I'm on the far left. It was on the free flight server the other night. I believe that is me in the bottom picture also. My screenshots don't compare though... very nice.
