A huge increase in frame rate??
Prophet_169th replied to Mizzy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Using the CDDSBrowser tool, you just need to use the import function. It only works by single texture, so is time consuming. Currently, I have the WorldTextureBMP.cdds file converted. I am working on the WorldTextureBMP1.cdds, and I will probably finish all the cdds files in that folder and do the terrain files. *** Interesting note; I extracted all the files and then converted with bright, I can see the large difference in file sizes when looking at the bmp files, yet when I import them all back into the cdds file, the cdds file size stays the same. Kinda odd, am I doing something wrong? This seems like it may help in high unit mission. I have just a mission to test this with. -
SU-25T Pilots: KAB-500kr-OD vs. KH-29T

Rgr, I didnt think it was. Nice situation, I never thought of using them when space to deploy a weapon was tight. -
SU-25T Pilots: KAB-500kr-OD vs. KH-29T
Prophet_169th replied to Megile's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
In the game, as far as damage and such goes, I havent been able to find a use for the KAB. But one of the versions is supposed to have a penetrating warhead, for bunkers and such, but I dont think that is modelled in game? -
OT: it's that time of the month, again...

If there was just 1 thing to upgrade, I would say CPU though. That Celeron has to go. -
Low AAM PK .. Oh no not that again...

I am liking the AWACS idea to help that. Will see what happens though. -
Does Lomac Fc1.1 support TrackIR 4?
Prophet_169th replied to hreich's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No, 1.2 Blackshark will support 6DOF for the Ka-50. Not sure about the rest of the aircraft, but I believe they would all need to have a new cockpit made, since the Ka-50 has new clickable pit. -

Using an nForce4 here, and have no issues at all. -
A huge increase in frame rate??
Prophet_169th replied to Mizzy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Can this be done to building textures and such? What can this be used on? And when someone gets some good testing done, can we get a tutorial? -
It would be interesting to see what the situation would be, now that AWACS isnt all seeing. I would be up for seeing one of the larger servers give this a try.

Thanks to all that have Dedicated servers
Prophet_169th replied to Kindred's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes the 504 server is awsome, great maps. The auto-rotator thing also keeps them from falling into night or without targets =) -
Theres a manual? Isnt reading one of those things like asking for directions?
-
That looks outstanding! Is ED gonna use it? You hear from them?

FPS....considering each setting.
Prophet_169th replied to Coffee999's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well you could use a program like FRAPs and test your own system. Me personally, I am still trying to figure out what kills the FPS. I think it is the lighting and shadows, then texture size depending on GPU memory, and visual range. The visual range by far seems to be the biggest player with the newer cards. On the older cards then vis really kills you and the pixel shader stuff. -

Has anyone flown it? How good is the realism? -
Tunguskas .. Oh no not that again...
Prophet_169th replied to Manny's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I host a pretty agressive A2G mission on HL. I have had to increase the difficulty thanks to people like Maton and Shepski (My desktop is screenshot of Shepski taking out a KUB site with cluster). There are Tor and Tunguska. Neither provide problems. Most of the time I will even risk a single shot on em. Now that patriot site....whoooh!!! Now that baby consistantly nails every missle I send his way. One thing that woud be awsome to see modelled is what SUB17 speaks of, the SAM radar going on/off. Also modelling of EO and ground command launches for missles that support it, I read article about SAM officer who shot down F-117 with SA-3 did so with EO lock and ground command. -
Sorry if I hijack, Would be interesting to hear feedback from real Su-25T pilots on 1.11 FC.

Isnt time and age same thing? -
I do not know of any laser that is blocked by the eye 'gel'. An IR laser will focus on the back of the retina, and like Hyena pointed out, there is no reflex and damage is quick. Now it may have low power and short pulse, but thats only going to make an accidental glance safe. UV will focus on the lens and front of eye, depending on wavelength. I believe they use an excimer 193nm laser for the new eye surgery. We use 248 and 193nm lasers at my work, they have continuous burst at 4KHz, and lots of power. We have fun sometimes burning things if we can get away with it. With the nature of lasers you should consider all unsafe. They may be below government safety limits, but come on, I wouldnt take their word for it. Eyes are fragile, be careful with lasers =)
-
That is very possible Force. But it would have to be really, really low power. The problem with laser light isnt the power, is the fact that it is coherent. Most real light we see is many times diffracted, the wavelengths are a mingle, and the angles are all a mingle. Not so with laser, and it doesnt take much to damage the eye, since it has an optical gain of like 100-1000?

This is the reason in our missions, same type of plane arent on the same team. That way you can look at the aircraft ID and tell if F/F. I have had a few people get pretty pissed not having any plane they want on any side. Those people probably would end up TKin too, and then wonder why there is no IFF........ ugh. Check this: http://www.hec.afrl.af.mil/Publications/3689_08.pdf It seems to be for a HMTD system in development, but there is a diagram of the symbology used. Appears to be 2 circles?
-
I have worked with a few laser systems, small home stuff and commercial excimer lasers. IR is easier to get than UV, but for the power needed to get a good beam out to the range that it does, and get it in a small package in the nose of the Su25T, its gonna get real hot I am sure. And no laser is eye safe.
-
Yeah, at max range its not that much of a problem. Because even the ones that go wide, will settle on the beam. I usually will launch 2 vihkirs in a row. Sometimes both fly OK, sometimes only 1, and sometimes none fly OK. Kinda odd.
-
Also need external views on?
-
I hear ya.
-
Not sure if this is a bug, probably just a factor of manufacturing. But I have noticed, that a good many of my Vihkirs that come out of the tube, make a larger spiral than some. I fly nice and level, so not sure what causes it. Sometimes nice tight spiral, sometimes they go real wide, and dont come close to hitting. Also noticed, with the texture set to winter and temp to -10C, that the laser cools much quicker. Nice feature!
