    F-15E?

you don't see B course videos very often... Now if they could just keep their arses off all those no-step areas they are on... ;)
  2. Thanks Wags! Suprising that would make you fumble through display pushbuttons to cycle screens but it is what it is. The AF was smart on that one, the Navy was silly.
  3. Any devs or board admin care to chime in or whether this capability exists or not and if it’s on the roadmap?
  4. As referenced above, belive you are talking about initial touchdown, which has nothing to do with anti-skid. Skid detection on pretty mich every mil aircraft out there requires wheels to be spinning at a minimum speed (speeds vary between aircraft) as they use speed detectors in the hubs themselves to measure spin differential between wheels. As such, anti skid is inoperable at slow taxi speeds anyway, so locking the brakes up is easily done and not an indication of the system not working properly.
  5. This is what I would be hoping for. Perhaps programmed/integrated with the MUMI implementation? If in fact it is real fuctionality of course...
  6. Are you stating that based on personal knowledge/experience with the real aircraft or are you just guessing based on what’s currently implemented in the sim? Honest question.
  7. I think you are missing my question. I’m referring to MFD page scrolling, that is using the HOTAS controls to cycle different pages on the displays. It’s not related to the TDC.
  8. With more and more MFD pages becoming functional, it begs the question of whether or not the real aircraft has any sort of page scrolling feature, like the F-15/F-16through switch functions like the castle switch and DMS respectively. Seems like if there isn’t, they really missed the boat on the HOTAS integration. Pretty common feature amongst many MDSs out there. I realize that this is still a work in progress so wondering if it’s something that’s potentially coming down the road if it’s part of the HOTAS functions in the real jet.
  9. Gonna be honest, I've always felt it was due to balance and not so much not having the capability of fixing it...just not really desiring to. It isn't meant to be a fair fight in the real world, but in this case, I think it is.
  10. Selecting a non-existant waypoint on the FPAS page will disable the home duel. I.E. you have 8 waypoints and you select waypoint 20. Be advised, unless something has changed, this will permanently disable it for the rest of the flight as the WP sepect buttons will disappear after a few seconds. The RL flight manual kind of hints at this being realistic on the disable part, but doesnt really speak to whether or not it can be reenabled in the real thing.
  11. I think you would need to look at the quoted post + hers. The original post was real vs real with the comment of the F-16 being capable of 8 mavs as a loadout, using the "other sim" as reference to the loadout capability. I didn't see a dismissal there, the post merely said that the loadout capabilities of the sim do not match real world. I wouldn't read too much more into it than that. ;)
  12. Too many type As for one thread. :) Reminds me of a joke I once heard. Two navs walk up to a vending machine...well, you guys probably already heard the rest of this one. ;)
  13. Pretty sure I found the way to accurately cause it to fail. Start APU --> motor #1 and allow to get into the teens --> turn starter back off --> start #2 engine then #1 as normal. Attempt to initiate AFCS bit. Fails for me...repeatedly. Attached another track. porked2.trk
  14. Issue that appears to be close to this happening again. AFCS BIT locks up about half way though cycling the LEFs. Left side drives full down and then the entire system dies. Appears repeatable as there are two track attached. I did both of these one right after the other. Not directly the same as this is happening on startup, as opposed to landing/restarting/etc. Edit...only uploaded one .trk file...other one was too large from playing around, resetting breakers, restarting, cycling generators, etc...trying to clear it. None of that worked BTW :) porked1.trk

    F-15E?

ECS is being upgraded with the mod as well as the LCS (liquid coolant for the radar transmitter, cooled by ECS). Radar wiring mods are centralized to the forward half of the airplane for the most part, the upgrades to the RWR/ICS will be a lot more invasive which means a lot more work througout the entire aircraft

CFTs have manual lockouts so you can keep them from taking gas during a power-off refuel if you want. We can do it when you don’t want to fill the jet comepletely full of gas (lower takeoff weight, shorter training missions when flying external tanks, etc). When the refuel is over, you reset the locks so they can take gas during IFR, etc. With reference to the bombs, yes.
  17. Presumably... Bug/under development, depending on how you want to look at it.
  18. That’s why I pointed out that it’s not common practice in theatre for unguided munitions to be used. Just not something that is done anymore. If we aren’t doing it now, there’s not really a reason for us to do it later either unless we are forced to. By force, I mean availabilty of munitions, not concern for taxpayer dollars. As for why we still drop slick munitions, see my earlier discussions. There’s still currencies to be met, and some courses like the B-courses commonly drop with like events as part of their course ciriculum. Slicks/inert weapons often meet that criteria, so not a lot of reason to load guidance kits on them...although it is still done. Outside of that, not sure exactly what you are looking for. AOR is different from peace time training. If you think they should be saving money by dropping slicks, that’s something you’ll have to take up with the badge wearing mission planners. I can tell you, from a fair amount of experienece, that it’s just not how those decisions are made.
  19. I’m a little fuzzy on your question? Are you asking why we would continue to keep MK series bombs in the stockpile? If so, that’s a pretty easy question, all your common gbu series bombs are made from the common MK series bomb bodies. The difference is adding the nose/tail kits as applicable to being GPS/laser guided. The exeptuon are the SDBs, JSOWs, etc.

    F-15E?

We flew 12x82’s a little bit for OEF early on, tanks and 3 x 1...that was on the -220 too. I’ve got some really grainy A/A pod footage of a string of all 12 coming off. Didn’t even lock out CFTs. They don’t look great coming off but I knew the wizzo on the jet that dropped on one of those events. They were on “go” pills due to the flying lengths, so he was about as animated as one could be when he got back. Edit: just looked at the clip again...only a ripple of 6. :( Would have been a sweeter story to tell if it was all 12.
  21. To reference response #1, the units are dropping more currently than we did during OIF ops, so your thoughts don’t really match the reality of what’s happening in the AOR. And we aren’t facing armor and a surface/air threat either. There’s way more ability to do that sort of stuff now than there ever was. To reference #2, aircrew still have currencies to drop ordnace. There are times they a flown and not dropped, just for the added weight. Same for flying with external tanks vs not. Much of that is like a checkride, they have to check boxes to stay qualified. Those BDUs can be dropped as dumb iron, or adding nose/tail kits and they are fairly often. What is done during peacetime is a lot different from execution in theatre. Not simulated in anything but the A-10 to my knowledge in flight sims, many have training PACS also where we can load practically any simulated weapon you want on the aircraft. That still doesnt meet the requirement for actual drops, which is where the dumb bombs fall in. It’s a perishable item, and their requirments to drop a “good” bomb are way more stringent that gets simulated by 99% of folks in the sim world. Tons of other reasons like range capabilities, etc. Doesnt mean any of that is taken into account when things are real in the AOR.
  22. Last time I saw an actual dumb bomb dropped in combat was 2003, and that was because they were dropping so much we were literally running out of LGBs. Not saying it isn’t done, but GBUs are the norm even in the air superiority evironments we are currently doing business in. The thoughts of the tax payer aren’t really in the decision tree on that.
  23. Using the ball and chain is about the best you can do IMO. The pipper will allow you to steer and give CCRP cues using the desinate function so in a way, I think you are getting what you want.
  24. Not a lot of reason to attempt to loft from high altitudes as flying higher kind of defeats that purpose. You could dive-toss since the A-10 is handicapped by speed/energy, but I can’t see much more of a use than that. Your loft method would be much better preserved for low level deliveries, and probably by aicraft capable of scooting across the ground faster than an A-10. There’s probably a decent chance that the A-10 doesnt include a loft delivery method for some/all the reasons above. I know some aicraft do though, to include LGBs and IAM weapons
