    OpenXR

Oh ffs! Do not follow this idiot. His videos are pure click bait and doing community a disservice. The video was outdated by several months at release showcased how he just ignored the webpage advising him that he using a completely outdated version in 50PT font. A million other things. He is only interested in pushing his followers to buy Pimax headsets Okay will make this more clear Mbucchia
  2. Updated the guide to include a blurb about Youtube Videos which are pure cancer and making things worse for the devs, and changed a few instructional steps to make it more waterproof (eg. no longer renaming, but deleting the .dll file) and additional troubleshooting with windows defender
  3. Get a 5800X3D/12900K Reduce number of trees or compute (eg wake turbulence). Optimise windows so its running the minimum amount of background tasks available. @speed-of-heat has an excellent thread of what settings affect what titled something Like My 3090 Graphic Settings. You will find it just by scrolling first or second page usually
  4. Good news for those who are often preface what they say with ‘Baaaack in my day…’ I only kid
  5. Try different hotkeys. Try ALT + CTRL WASD (For up down right and left) Not in front of my computer but isn't the latest version 1.1.2 and this looks two version behind? Also I don't know how it works with Oculus, but you are aware that the window only appears inside of VR in DCS? You can also have a look at the log file via the 'open log file' button
  6. So first up yes you did install OpenComposite - you used the old method and then somehow you also used SteamVR on top. Anyway, the old method is no longer supported by the devs but still technically works When DCS updates it cleans your install. It's likely it has cleaned whatever files you had in your install (whichever way you have installed it) Follow the guide to get it reinstalled or use the deprecated files and the old method from memory as I have deleted those instructions
  7. I concur. The only clickable massive button inside the OpenComposite App titled 'Switch to SteamVR' is one way to Switch back to SteamVR
  8. Currently 5800X3D is the best processor for flight simulators. So there is no point in comparisons other than ascertaining by how much it's better
  9. So there is a bug in OpenComposite that is apparent for some people. There is a way to correct it if you want to go through the steps. However the 'per app' install works really well as well Here is the paste from the discord discussing that same thing: null
  10. ED do not develop the necksaver app. Its made by a dev on the Il2 Forums who was kind enough in the way he coded it that it worked with DCS as well. And yes he has actually said that At the moment it doesn't. I see it as a feature as I am now a much better pilot for it - physical pain of having to 180' like an owl is a great motivator not to suck. However some people have physical constraints and see it as a must have app. Each to their own
  11. The good news is that it's a matter of 'when' rather than 'if' - the developer has said that he is happy with where the Steam version is at and is actively looking at an OpenXR version
  12. You have it all wrong. The way you have installed is outdated. There are no files that are dragged and dropped into the DCS folder
  13. He is talking about the OpenComposite.ini file. Inside there is a custom mask This version of OpenComposite (where we dragged the 3 files into the bin folder - 6.1.6 I believe was the version?) is loooong outdated but unfortunately refuses to die. I think this is because of the “instructional” YouTube videos that get self promoted in hope of getting more subscribers and give people the outdated info
  14. An interesting solution from one of the OpenComposite Developers that I saw. They were trying to solve an issue with ACC (an other racing sim) but a similar story. This was the solution: Try closing OC and Steam making sure it's not running at all by checking tray and task manager. Then start OC, click on the switch to OC button, then restart Steam. Check OC app config for steam with lowercase 's' and Steam with uppercase 'S'. Set steam to always use SteamVR and Steam to always use default. Shut down Steam (check tray etc) and OC again. Run OC and click switch to OC if needed again. Now restart Steam. Try ACC
  15. I'm just going to leave this here for anyone who went through the DCS Update null
  16. You are trying with a G2, right? Okay try this. Launch Windows Mixed Reality - put your headset on. What do you see? If nothing, and there is no sound and the front LED is not on. Try a different USB Port, a different Display Port and double check that the power cable is plugged in and the LED on the power brick is active Then launch the Saktezilla Utility and try launching with the ForceVR mode Is OpenXR Itself installed on your computer? Go to the right most tab inside the OpenXR Tools app (Home I believe from memory) and launch the demo scene. You should be surrounded by purple and low poly clouds. There is also a 'System Status' tab which will tell you more Is your Windows install up to date? Other things to try. Standalone per app install of OpenComposite (Revert everything back to SteamVR in the opencomposite.exe and delete the entire folder before installing the other one)
  17. What is the likelyhood that the friend doesn’t have the ‘Enable VR’ box ticked inside the DCS settings. If you want the shortcut just go to ~\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe - right click and send to desktop The guide can be shorter. Heck it can be 8 sentences. But I am not going to do that. But I promise that I will keep improving it, and condensing it and making it better. To be honest, half of it is not even my work; but various users in the community thinking it's a good idea to add this and that so it will help the next person After countless hours of back-testing and frustrations, repeated mistakes - 10 minutes of ones time to read 2000 comments worth of struggle condensed and updated into one post is not much to ask If followed to the letter, the tool will work straight out of the box, even if followed blindly without any understanding. Also it’s a one stop shop for answers of 95% of all questions. No need to read the other posts if one does not want to Basically I am trying to save every minute of Mbucchia’s, Jabbah’s time. We have to remember that DCS accounts for over 90% OpenCompesite user base, so getting this right is important. (Remember that one time where the DCS community single-handedly blew through their entire Server Bandwidth Days' allocation, every day for almost a full week straight?) Every answered question here means that their time is opened up for development rather than user support @Fiztex If only there was an other manufacturer which produced graphics cards at better price 2 performance ratio with 16GB of VRAM on their midtier and higher end cards
  18. They are different sizes because the Screenshot is over a month old
  19. Yeah This here exactly You will Have OpenXR installed by default because it comes with windows. But you can uninstall it and then install it again if you want Additionally if you want start again, which I highly advise, here are the steps Remove all three apps by searching 'OpenXR' inside the remove programs screen (screenshot below) OpenXR Developer tools (aka OpenXR Tools) here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/openxr-tools-for-windows-mixed-reality/9n5cvvl23qbt . To install OpenXR Runtime (OpenXR for Windows Mixed Reality), navigate to the right most tab inside the newly installed OpenXR Developer Tools (aka OpenXR Tools). It gives you an error and a link to install the OpenXR Runtime via the Windows Store (something that I could not find by searching the store alone) Then follow every step of the guide Once you have everything the OpenXR Toolkit can be found here: https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/ There is no such thing as OpenXR Developer Toolkit. This is a mishmash of two names of the apps You really are confusing yourself for no good reason, if you just blindly follow every step it will work regardless if you have OpenXR Tools or OpenXR Developer Tools name
  20. Yo boys, there are 3 apps OpenXR <- Self Explanatory OpenXR Developer Tools aka OpenXR Tools (Same app different names) <- This is what connects Your Mixed Reality Headset to OpenXR and has ability to change resolution and enable MR OpenXR Toolkit <- A extension to the above which can now give you sunglasses, ability to change saturation, anti jitter and FSR/NIS to name a few
  21. I diagnose you with Motion Reprojection Stockholm Syndrome. I sentence you to an entire week of dog fighting in the I-16 [EDIT] I stand corrected. It has improved (I had the anti-shake turned on, turning it off made it miles better). However it suffers from image instability when looking from left to right quickly, literal screen shift effects. Is significantly less sharp and washed out and still has the wobbles. It's smoother than my 55FPS locked setting. To me this is still a very steep price to pay with only one advantage. If 90FPS fluidity is all you care for then it's a way to achieve it Sentence reduced to 3 days of I-16 You are confused. OpenXR Toolkit can not be downloaded from the Microsoft store. All links are laid out in the guide, and there is a nice chap above who has linked it for you again
  22. I’ll give it an other go. But only because you told me Just to confirm, you’re using MR always on inside the OpenXR Dev Tools without any specifications inside OpenXR Toolkit I also suspect people who are saying it’s much smoother with the MR disabled but with toolkit forced to an FPS are getting the infamous and highly elusive soft lock
