Any chance of a SAMP/T. BTW do these work in multiplayer? -

+1. They work fine with Moose/Mantis. It's pretty easy to configure them also. Plus Moose also handles A2A, A2G, Arty, Naval and ground units. It's brilliant. -

Hi C.H. Anyone else finding their SAMS (the S-350 especially) going absolutely nuts spinning/corkscrewing/pinwheeling/ everywhere? At one stage I place the units too close and it managed to kill it's own TR... -
F4E Shrikes not tracking certain sites in multiplayer
DelRoy replied to WRZ_shad0w's topic in Weapon Bugs
It's a bug. I've raised it with HB and ED support. It's 'with the developers' whatever that means. In the meantime, AFIK the Shrike correctly tracks the 2,3,and 6(maybe). The 15 needs the Mk50 head as does the 19 however a the accuracy is bad, even for the 45. The 11 is kaput no matter which head and the 8 fails to track completely. -
Are they still borked? I'm having great difficulty with the Shrikes against the SA-8 (they don't track). The SA-15 is supposed to be the MK25. But only the 50 seems to give a tone and/or track. - ANd that just seems to drill straight into the ground although it does pick up the correct azimuth. I've ran repairs, stripped out all mods and tried it with different flight profiles. Low and close, high and in a 10 degree dive. From 10 miles down to 2 And all in between. I've set it to LOFT, I've set it to Direct. I've used the WRCS to pick up range and direction. Previously I seemed to get maybe 50% to track. These days I'm not getting much success at all... testSA-8-mk48Mod1Direct.trk testSA-8-mk48Mod0Direct.trk

I have followed the procedures in the manual. EO-Guided-Bombs - Heatblur F-4E Phantom II However the pylons will not arm and the pilot scope will not display a picture. I have recycled the weapon select knob to direct, then back to TV (to reset the warmup) and set the cockpit clock to monitor the 3 minute warmup. Still no joy after the time.

Be aware some multiplayer servers have trouble with Shrike warning tones. If so, dodge the first SA-15 and get to a safe distance. Stay low. . If you never heard a tone, deselect the left pylon and select the right pylon. Point it back at the SA-15. Still no tone? Orbit and switch to Mavericks. In which case it's Russian roulette weaseling or a game of chicken getting the Maverick to lock. Either way, take out the 15 first then that should leave you with one Maverick for the search radar. Once the 10 is down, the follow up Eagle/Viper/Hornet drivers can clobber the remaining assets from a distance.

Look, I think it's safe to say we'd all like to run the 'G' model. We can't. However the 'E' can be just as useful when employed correctly. Can you take out a modern big-arsed SAM site solo? Lets take a scenario. You are tasked with dismantling a reinforced Grumble site at Maykop. You are taking off from Sochi with a pair of Shrikes, a pair of Mavs a Jammer, a tank, and the rest kitted out for A2A. By 'reinforced' I mean, an SA-15 TOR an SA-19 Tunguska, various Shilkas and maybe KORD or two you know. For laughs and stuff. Your work starts before you take off. Prioritize your targets. You might think that the important target would be the SA-10. It's not. True you'll need to take it out, but the way you'll be flying the SHORAD are the much bigger threat. Take them out first. Beating an SA-10 is easy in broken terrain. Beating a TOR is a whole different beast. Beating a Pantsir is pretty much impossible. Leave those for the HARM jockeys. Take out the longest range, deadliest SHORAD first. The SA-15. The SA-19 can wait. Choose your weapons The seeker heads on a Shrike are single target only. You need to pick the right ones off the bat. Look up the Shrike chart in the manual and load a MK-25 on the left outermost, and a 50 on the right. Unless its bright day or early/late either the A/B or D versions of the Maverick will have issues. So carry one of each or a mixture if you are going without A2A. Choose your route. You'll want as much terrain between you and Maykop for as long as possible. There is a handy valley running north/south terminating at Maykop city. Plan waypoints to follow that valley entering it high in the mountains and following it all the way along. Get a good look at the positioning of these systems, remember where they are in relation to runways, treelines, shelter or buildings. You'll need that because the ingress is going to be visual and the Shrike has a limited seeker cone. Pick a reference point you can identify quickly for the SA-15. Also do that for the SA-19 and the SA-10 *TRACK RADARS* Set your switches. Either leave it in A2A or AGM-45. It'll be set for Mavs. They are useless at the moment. Call in CAP. The Rhino (bless her) is a big girl when she's fully loaded. The weapons systems are, well, old. Have help if you can get it. As you pass over the highest peaks, instruct Jester to use countermeasures. I know he will, but do it anyway. Then flip on the Jammer. Pretty soon you'll get the SA-10 warning tone from it's search radar. And the jammer like the Maverick, has a 3 minute warm up. ASSUME THERE IS ALREADY A MISSILE IN THE AIR. The Grumble uses TVM (Track Via Missile). You may not get a launch warning. Drop it like it's hot. Get low. Get fast. Stay low until the SA-10 symbol disappears. If it reappears, pop a countermeasure and look for something to hide behind. It doesn't have to be high, it just needs to conceal you. Keep working your way towards Maykop city. The Phantom cycles weapons from left to right. Have the Left pylon selected, the Missile in AGM and Direct. Master Arm on. (if you haven't already done all of that) Finally as you near Maykop city the SA-15 should come active. You should be at or above 500Kts and either very low over the buildings, or preferably slipping between the taller ones. Drying laundry and blowing out windows. The tone should be going off from the Shrike. Locate the reference point you planned earlier and head straight for it. Climb SLIGHTLY! and locate the SA-15. Either the spot it should be occupying if you're lucky or the smoke trail if you aren't. Launch the Shrike. REVERSE AND DIVE IMMEDIATLY popping countermeasures. Get back to the city and get down in the streets. If all goes well the Shrike should arrive before you trash the SA-15's missile and it won't shoot the Shrike down. Again, if you are lucky it's now destroyed, But it should be at least disabled. And that's just as good. Either way it's out of the fight. If the shrike doesn't get it done keep darting in and out of the city until the 15 has drained its missiles. - This is weaseling. Try to avoid that: "Better DEAD than SEAD". Repeat for the Tunguska. Notice the SA-10 isn't bothering you? You've jammed the WEZ for it. You are too low, too fast, too close for it to accurately target you. Take some time to breath. Set the Mavericks up. Lazily orbit in that zone for the three minutes it takes to spin them up. The locate the search radars. Stay back a bit and clobber them with a Maverick. Get too close and the AAA will murder you. Once the search radars are gone, the site is neutered. It can't launch. If all else fails you can go in with the cannon. But that is at best a crapshoot.

Anyone else notice that you don't have any chaff/flares loaded in multiplayer despite having them loaded in the armourments screen? I'm wondering if its a 4YA problem or the F-4 in general?

Hi CH, Love your work even though you are EVIL for giving us the Pantsir..... But I digress. Quick question, You have HARM codes. What are they and how do we use them? -

Yeah. I have that all set up as per Mantis. It works in testing against a single target, however in mission it doesn't. The obvious difference is there is a CapZone overlapping hence friendlies in the area during game. I'm wondering if CH during his testing of the SAMs if he has seen this logic in action or is it just a glitchy mission. As its Mods I figured ED can wash their hands of it. -

Hi CH. LOVE THES MODS! (Did I overstate that?) I have a weird one for you. How do you set up a SAM site. Radar first? then ECS, EPP etc then finally the launchers? If so, which radar? I'm running them with Moose MANTIS and Chief. I have a sneaking feeling that they arent firing because there are friendly air assets in the area, but I'd like to eliminate any set up issues I might be having. I have the keyword CHM in the group name. Oh and a request.... R-330Zh Zhitel - Wikipedia -
I'm trying out a new mini keyboard. As such it doesn't have a L-Ctrl key. I've added the Apps key as a substitute. I was hoping there was a quick way to edit the keybinds to update them for Apps+<key> globally?

I worked around it by binding keys to com1 and com2

Hey CH, - With the Kola map coming out would you consider having a look at the Tupolev Tu-126 for a cold war scenario. It could work well in Caucus in the same time frame....... -
Weird one. The AI radio communications seem to not be working in some missions. I have easy communications set and enforced in ME. I can hear the pilot say something. But there is no reply. I can however hear communication from my flight and from AWACS. Announcing on station, - mudspikes etc. I can see my subtitles when I send something over the / keybind, but can't get a reply. I'm running DCS latest. I'm not running any mods. I've run a repair. I'm discounting the volume as an issue as I can hear radio traffic. Any thoughts? - Or do I log a call with support?
-
About the F-4B and C 'm doing something stupid I think. I'm finding it impossible to either get a tone or hear a tone on the AIM-9s. Now I know that you are reliant on the seeker head and it isn't queued by the radar. And the tech is old gen....But even an all aspect 9L/P/PS can't get a tone on a low aspect MIG-21 in a straight up climb at 1-2 miles.

It shoots wayyyyy low. I'm guessing its a bug. Or am I wrong?

Ok, My go-to load for the Tomcat was 2XAIM54 on the glove pylons. 2XAIM9L, and 4 AIM7 on the fuselage. This doesn't seem to be available anymore since the latest stable update. Seems the same for the A & B versions? Is this intentional or is something broken?
-
Do we need Multii-threading for it?
-
Figured it out. Its part of MANTIS. It happens when the SHORAD comes active. It's because the Debug option is on.
