Landing light only works at idle power, (verified with multiple squadron mates). Any power change above idle will turn the landing light off. Thanks !

So A few things I've noticed. I need to adjust my gamma at night from my daytime setting after the sun sets. kinda annoying on a cross country formation flight at magic hour. But the real issue I'm seeing is a washed out red/orange moon and the light it projects being red/orange. I changed dates to get a good full moon changed time to 3AM so it would be nice and high in the sky and all I saw was a red/orange diffuse light everywhere (when i turned gamma up) and the moon being that particular color. Also fog being the same red/orange color. No matter time of day, weather, light conditions, Orange Fog Just wanted to make people aware of it

Carrier Air Wing Eleven VCVW-11 is now recruiting ! I've been waiting till we have some definite news for the Tomcat and/or Hornet projects to openly advertise. Virtual Carrier Air Wing Eleven will be openly recruiting starting now for DCS World's carrier borne aircraft. I have 20 years of flight sim experience and leadership of VF-213 in VNAO way back in FC1 and FC2. Most of us have never stopped flying DCS and we have some returners since the naval aviation is about to be a real thing in DCS World, YAY ! Our website is https://www.vcvw-11.com (Is mostly finished) Teamspeak and Discord information is on the forums on our site. We are primarily based in North America but we already have applicants from Australia and Europe ! We will have for starters VF-213 "Black Lions", VMFA-232 "Red Devils" for our marine corps brethren, and VFA-154 "Black Knights", as well as the VT-22 "Golden Eagles" for our new pilots to earn their navy wings ! VF-213 will fly Hornets until the tomcats show up then transition. We will also have a Harrier squadron flying off of the Tarawa that is still TBD as far as which Marine Corps squadron we decide to have and how much interest there is in it. We will be a realism focused air wing taking pride in *simulated* military precision, carrier qualifications, greenie boards and everything in between. We have been doing this a very long time. If this sounds like fun to you please visit the website and apply today ! No experience required we will train anyone, sim veterans welcome !

We're still working on scheduling since this is the first time we've gone public since 2010. But we will ensure that scheduling will work for everyone.. Training will be scheduled priority since we will all be fairly new to the F18C and F14 when it comes out. Current training will be done as FAM courses in the F-5 Preferrably and if the Officer Candidate does not have the F5 we can work in generally any aircraft that they currently posess and will require new pilots to sign up and schedule with their instructor to complete the courses.. Things such as basic flight/navigation/formation flight etc All of which are still being written and documentation nailed down.

No experience required Rephild We train you. We have a dedicated training squadron before you are assigned to the fleet

Hey Mouse ! Currently we're just flying training and familiarization flights in the F5 but really if you wanted to come join us in the m2000 that doesnt really concern us at all. As long as you plan on getting the Hornet you'd be welcome.

We are based in North America. I've had guys from Australia and the EU fly with us just depends on what hours you keep to :) Matt

Favorite one is the one I fly (virtually that is) Been C.O. of VF-213 since VNAO since back in LOMAC and FC1-2 I've already got my Air Wing up and running for when the cat comes out >B) Cant wait. Virtual Carrier Air Wing Eleven Yes I know VF-213 was assigned to Wing 8 but Wing 8 is taken by an FSX group and its leader which I highly respect. Ron "Pop" Folse whom was my teacher in lock on in VNAO. But he was also in charge of NAS Pensacola training squadron. I went and visited him a few years ago and got a guided tour. One of the highlights of my life. That being said my research shows that VF-213 was assigned to CVW-11 at some point so, it works out

Leatherneck Q1 Development Update - Part I
IceFire replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I think tactics are being ignored in this convo about the phoenix. It may not be useful at all against fighters, then again it may be the best anti-fighter BVR weapon of all time IDK.. However, I can dream up a situation where I'd WANT to pop off a few *2* 54's at a flight of bandits at long range. 1. on the hope that they may hit home. 2. It puts the enemy on the defensive at long range, if they are concerned with trying to defeat a missile coming down at them from the edge of space, they wont be concerned with you closing at burner to shoot them in the rear when they're defensive. I'd be surprised if the navy didn't think of something like that. -
While I didn't mean the powerplant I meant the type, I did not realize that ED is making one, and the one that is presently in the sim is a joke lol its been around since FC. It is good though that ED is updating it and having the Forrestal is even better at that point, multiple classes = better. Now we just need a Marine Corps carrier and some choppers/harriers to compliment it >B)
-
Not that I'm complaining, far from it. But just a question, Why a conventional powered carrier and not say the Enterprise or a Nimitz Class ?
-
My vote is for the Harrier

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
IceFire replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I agree. Personally, I'd rather have cobra and leatherneck give us meaningful updates when they happen and when they get time. I would much rather have them working towards taking my money for this, instead of writing press releases. I for one have been waiting my entire adult life for a full, in-depth, study sim F-14. I can wait a little longer in between press releases. I can not be more happy with Leatherneck for taking on this project. Order of Operations: Step 1: Wait :music_whistling: Step 2: Wait some more :music_whistling: Step 3: RTM: :book: Step 4: :joystick: Step 5: :pilotfly: WOOHOO ! -
Completely agree.. I've flown the A10c since beta.. I considered myself a great hog driver.. However, I purchased all of the Maple Flag Missions from Sabre. They are without a doubt THE best training aid I have ever seen. When I flew these missions even the basic thru advanced flight and combat training, I found myself severely lacking in the procedures and tactics that the A10C needs to be effective.. They don't just teach you how.. they teach you WHY things are done.. Its incredibly well done and I would buy any more they come out with. Period Matt "IceFire" Schuette

They carry them because even though you have suppressed and destroyed the *current* enemies air force.. In the case of the Korean war, You never know when another country is going to get "uncomfortable" with your presence just next door.

I can tell you that JTAC marks are completely busted for Predator. Im going to try a few other units today and see whats up with those.

Roll rates won't do any good unless it can turn like this bird can.. F14 is all about stick and rudder. It is an amazing fighter And I'm certain the only reason the navy got rid of her was maintenance costs plus political pressure from Boeing. I love the F18 but the capabilities for extreme bvr cannot be understated. The shock value of a missile you have no idea was fired at you till the last minute had to be unnerving. The fact that most people tend to forget about extreme range bvr is this.. The phoenix missile is deadly accurate. However, the first 4 letters of any missile is MISS. Even if it does miss, your enemy was just forced to go defensive giving you the advantage in the forthcoming merge.

While I do not enjoy being paraphrased and stuff taken out of context.. That comment was merely stating that Others have and ARE creating a very realistic F18 simulation. And your perception is what allows you to believe that a simulation is realistic or not. and the information for building a F/A-18/E is out there and available.. my WIKI comment was to be taken for what it was worth. Again my point is a SIMULATION that you PERCIEVE to be realistic. Get the picture ? Your perception allows you to believe that an A10 Simulation from ED is the best there is as far as simulation goes.. everything works, the plane flys correctly blah blah blah... But that is just to your perception.. An actual A10 Pilot may decide that its unrealistic and unflyable. Same with FSX... I believe that FSX is one of the most real sims out there (with the propper addons and planes) but is unflyable as a real simulation with the default program. Your perception is the Same perception that my 5 year old gets when he flys FSX on game mode... OMG DADDY I'M FLYING ITS SO REAL !! Thats what makes perception amazing and also a liability -

To those who think the superhornet is NOT a possibility...why the hell not ? Listen.. I'm not some fanatic who thinks that these sims are as "accurate as real life" its not gonna happen ok its a SIM.. ANY pilot will tell you there are marked differences between sim and real life avionics, behavior, weaponry..etc etc.. The Super Hornet is just an upgraded platform and avionics.. The level of classified information on the superhornet is not so much that an EXTREMELY ACCURATE (to our perception) simulation cannot be achieved.. Think about it, the AN/APG-79's performance as a radar system can be extrapolated from unclassified reports and maybe boosted by a percentage to gain a performance level not unlike the real thing... besides who, besides the pilots and engineers, know what these things REALLY do ? Surely not us, and surely not a foreign sim maker. The AN/ALR-67(V)3 - just an advanced RWR thats integrated with the ALE-55 Towed Decoy self explanitory and can be looked up on wiki for christs sake the AN/ALE-47, which is usd on ALOT of planes and choppers.. would be pretty easy to figure out how those can be applied in game... The AN/ASQ-228 ATFLIR just an advanced targetting pod..upgrade the A10C's pod and you have it...woooo thats hard isnt it folks ? the JHMCS...The folks over at BMS figured that one out for a FREE SIM... what other features of the Super Hornet are so hard to figure out ? the radios ? ooooo difficult to figure THAT one out... Look put weapons on the VRS SuperBug from FSX and something for it to fight and you have DCS Super Hornet... Flight Model, come on, you know thats bullshit ok if it looks like a duck walks like a duck and fuc*'s like a duck....its a fuc*in DUCK...meaning if it FEELS right then it probably is. You can bet that ED did not have access to an A10C and get to fly it around with accellerometers to measure exact flight performance when they built this sim, If they did then more power too em because its great.. Flight model is all about what WE as the consumer guage as realistic... from what we see on youtube what we see at airshows and its all relative...An A10C pilot testing the sim will say its spot on... but an armchair general *and you know you are out there* will spout some crap he learned on defense net telling him no way thats not right... Now...the only thing that would be somewhat difficult to do is to get the carrier ops right with an LSO and a Pitching Deck for a Carrier...which they already did ! A better CVN Model with some business going on, on the deck, and you have the perfect simulation people.. and I'd pay out the nose to get it. Nuff Said.. -
Its PRETTY for sure.. however the 60 FPS count on the video.. what do you think thats going to be by the time you throw an A10 in there ? Complex calculations for a flight sim are what eats up your PC not the terrrain. ever get 80 FPS in FSX with a default plane and then load up something like the PMDG 747-8 or any other systems intensive aircraft ?... hope you have a damn good PC or your gettin a slide show. I have more hope for Outerra being the latest and greatest FS engine.. it is a real time rendering engine that INCLUDES groundbreaking physics, here check it out. Videos will speak for themselves http://www.outerra.com/
