    CRS TACAN

    Same here.
  2. I don't think we are talking about the same uses of the HARM... I know full well what HARM can attack and what it can not. HARM was designed to deal with radar guided SAM sites.. it was easily spoofed until it was upgraded with systems to mark the radars position even when switched on and off.. Your perfectly within your rights to go wild weaseling against manpads, tunguska etc with mavericks etc.. However nobody is arguing that with you about that. Anyone that says the HARM is for that doesn't know what HARM is for.. Alternatively, I was not attempting to be insulting, however if it came across that way I do apologize sincerely. Text can be that way while trying to make a point. Regards.
  3. I'm really not trying to sound insulting here so please dont take it that way. Talking like this your going to lose your credibility very quickly. If anyone needs a moving map, ground radar and all of that stuff to do their jobs effectively than boy howdy the guys in 91 would have all gotten shot to hell by Iraqi SAMs and never hit a damn thing. Your arguing that the HARM, a technologically advanced weapon is useless and we should all go weaseling with rockets, bombs and cannons of all things. All of which will get you a ride in a parachute in one of my missions. While In the same post your saying that you need a moving map, a2g radar and all of the new toys to be able to know where your at in the world come on now.
  4. I think you may be over thinking the use of the HARM a little bit. HARM really from what I know of the weapon is meant for the large SAM sites, SA10, SA11, EWRs etc. as you say it's ineffective against shoot and scoot radars. Those are not in its operational envelope. It's after the strategic sites not the tactical. Going after weapons like SA15 with HARM is a bit rediculous and waste of an expensive weapon.
  5. It will be a proper C model Lot 20 Early Access means that the thing is essentially in open beta form. Like many other games they release it early to get the clients to test it during development to fix bugs easier etc etc. It's always going to be a C Lot 20 but some of the more advanced systems come later on in the development cycle.
  6. See... This discussion right here is why people fly the way they do in DCS. There's no consequences, so yeah you can fly your happy rear end over a sam site and drop bombs on it and cannon and all of that unrealistic nonsense. In the real world the guys life and multi million dollar aircraft are on the line. Which is why the HARM was invented to stop the wild weasel nonsense of the 60's and early 70's because people where getting killed doing it. Yeah, ok sure you CAN drop ordinance on SAM sites or loft bomb GBU's at them. But that's just not realistic. In CVW-11 when we go on deployment we are only going to have the amount of aircraft/stores/etc on the deck that a carrier would have. Obviously resupply ships do show up from time to time. If stupidity prevails such as overflying sam sites out of some misguided sense of machismo, and guys lose aircraft right and left guess what, they wont be flying anymore. That behavior to me is akin to dropping your ordinance/tanks before landing on the deck. Simply because you're trying to make things easier. My guys will be taking their ordinance/drop tanks back to the boat with them because there will be a limited supply. Bottom line you fly how you want in DCS that's cool. If you wanna learn to fly how the real world is, you gotta drop that machismo a little bit and start using the tools that where invented. The weapon exists because a threat exists otherwise there would be no purpose in spending millions and possibly billions of dollars on it.
  7. My question is this. The Stennis as shown in the videos etc. Is that the module or the free one. Because its confusing when you guys are talking about it. I just wanna know which is the payware, have we seen it yet, and which one we're getting standard.
  8. To be honest I think they should include a chromecat livery to pay homage to the beast ! :joystick:
  9. I cannot believe the quality of that Jester AI.. Its amazing ! I cant wait to dive into this head on.
  10. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition DCS: F/A-18C Hornet FAQ Updated on 19 March January 2018 Q: When will the Hornet be released? A: By the end of Spring 2018. That's the only answer anyone is going to ever give to these questions, just FYI. Excellent use of vocabulary though I was quite impressed.
  11. -CORRECTION- You can, just go watch the Hornet Pre-Purchase trailer that's where it is from.
  12. Where in the pictures that where posted do you see black water ? O.o
  13. I mean yeah it would be Ideal but there's no aircraft surviving with the TF-30 in use, even the last F-111 was museum bound in 2013. Unless they hitch themselves to Iran and ask nicely to let them record the TF-30 for us I think your stuck with their interpretation of that engine. So, your at the mercy of the sound editors which are fantastic but you wont see an actual recording of a TF-30 in sim unless they get it from the above source.
  14. Bottom line there are enough equivalents out there to get within the ballpark. I mean y'all actually think they'd fire up an old tomcat to get sound recordings you're dreaming. If they'd ever ALLOW them to do so, which no-one would, it would be technically and cost prohibitive for any institution who has a tomcat that has not been completely deactivated to bother with. Tomcats are museum pieces and scrap metal probably in your beer can currently. They where a maintenance nightmare when they where operational let alone after sitting for twelve years or more in a museum. I love the Tomcat as much as everyone else but let's face it, even if they could take recordings of the magical surviving tomcat, would any of you who have never been close to a tomcat even know the difference ? Because unless you where working on them, flew them, or heard them daily. You would not, definitely not from a grainy YouTube video from twenty+ years ago as your only reference.
  15. The 4th patch was this past Wednesday according to https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3423375&postcount=5 And yes this has made my client next to unplayable in multiplayer, our dedicated server crashes every time more than 4 people join. Its crazy... But as stated above it's a beta so I'm content to wait.
  16. Right ? lol
  17. It would be great to see the ATC system overhauled.
  18. Human LSO all the way. I mean you can currently script all the parameters for a proper carrier approach with clever use of triggers.
  19. Virtual Carrier Air Wing Eleven is proud to be a VNAO Alumni organization. As Commander Air Group and VNAO Alumnus, I look forward to the future of all three of our organizations. The VCVW-11, the Stingers, and the Jolly Rodgers are brothers in simulated arms separated by years lacking professional study level naval simulation. No more as we look to a bright future in Virtual Naval Air Operations. We'll show the world how its done, together !
  20. Carrier, mighty wings ! Or....<shifty eyes> I could play some Queen "One Vision" just because its truly epic flying music. Yes yes I know it's from Iron Eagle but damn it I love that movie !
  21. Shameless plug here but We at the VCVW-11 have a training regime up and running for our pilots old and brand new to get basic flight qualified and ready to hit the boat running when the F-18 drops. Our lead instructor pilot has 27,000 hours real world flight time, as well as quite a few veterans and active duty military that have worked on the airframe.
  22. Gonna be amazing, We absolutely cannot wait for this !
  23. We fly a mix of aircraft for now, any DCS module will do for basic quals, Most fly F-5's because it is the aircraft that best teaches basic flight concepts. But we have folks flying the Mirage, A10, Harrier etc. As long as it can Tacan navigate your good to go. As far as wing missions/flight times we fly literally every night someone is always flying and/or training. I live in central US so the times of flight for me are 6pm to whenever in the evening.
  24. Virtual Carrier Air Wing Eleven VCVW-11 is now recruiting again for the F/A-18C Hornet and the F-14 Tomcat. Our first round of recruits have passed basic training/qualification flights to be assigned into their respective squadrons. VCVW-11 is a realism focused organization our founding members have well over a century of simulator experience. The Commanding Officer of the VT-22 'Golden Eagles', our training squadron, has 25,000+ hours of real world flight experience. We have pilots from the United States, Australia, France, Canada, and the list is growing. We currently have 3 squadrons we are recruiting for. VF/VFA-213 'Black Lions' - will transition from Hornets to Tomcats when applicable VFA-154 'Black Knights' - F/A-18C VMFA-232 'Red Devils' - F/A-18C We build our own liveries from scratch, each pilot has their assigned aircraft with their name/callsign right below the cockpit! We have an Air Wing Discord, website, forums, and dedicated server! Join today and be qualified flight ready for carrier qual's when the Hornet drops ! NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED WE WILL TRAIN YOU !
  25. Not really sure its fair to compare the F-15 that is intensely simplified to something like the Hornet..
