I think Cobra and Heatblur apologized enough for a comment made a year ago, yet people keep bringing it up. If you, personally made a mistake, then legitimately and honestly apologized for it and someone kept bringing it up over, and over, and over again a year later. What would you do? Most if not all accepted that apology last year, I did as well because it was a heartfelt and sincere apology. We'll get our Tomcat in due course. I'm excited and hyped too, but that's no excuse to foam at the mouth in the forums when delays happen. Don't make these guys regret being a part of this community and dissuade them from making further products.

Dubbing the audio is common. We've already heard the Tomcat sounds in game as a WIP video a while back, and the other livestream. The audio was dubbed for the Hornet if you remember when it did the RCAF demo before it was released. I have a feeling it's more of the RIO pit that's giving them fits. Since we have yet to see detailed pictures/videos of it.

Thanks for having Max and I over for a friendly chat Jar! I had an absolute blast and you can hold me to doing a stingers PLAT video in NH-213 the week after the Tomcat release!

We used it but again, it required everyone to have it as well as constantly keep it up to date. Even those with no interest in an A4. If it was made to not be required I'd be happy to put some in but once it's server side it's required, unfortunately.

Hey, all you Tomcat people! Just wanna drop a line here to let you know that CVW-11 is recruiting exclusively for our Tomcat squadrons at this time. Right now we're flying an underpowered ghastly bug, a creature to be eradicated with RAID... But soon we'll hear the cat's roar. Come and join us and our close 80 pilot membership. We have real-world talent from both the Tomcat and Hornet community. Such as the man that wrote and produced the video below. Check out our website and sign up for the Tomcat today!

So, we all know or should know by now, that the Tomcat uses DLC (Direct Lift Control) to fine tune it's approach for landing. The real F-14 accomplished this via a spring-loaded scroll wheel on the stick. From the Natops: 2.21.6.1 DLC Operation. DLC is engaged with the control stick DLC switch and commanded by the thumbwheel. The thumbwheel is spring loaded to a neutral position. Forward rotation of the wheel extends spoilers and aft rotation retracts them proportionally to the degree of thumb wheel rotation. Absolute spoiler deflection is dependent upon lateral stick position (see Figure 2.57). DLC control is provided by the pitch and roll computers; the yaw computer monitors the DLC trim actuator. Upon engagement of DLC, the roll computer extends the inboard spoilers from the landing flaps down drooped (−4.5°) position to 17.5° above the flush (0°) position. The pitch computer displaces the trailing edges of the horizontal stabilizers 2.75° down from their trim position. If thumbwheel control is rotated fully forward, the spoilers extend to 55° and the stabilizer trailing edges remain at 2.75°. This increases the rate of descent. If the thumbwheel control is rotated fully aft, the spoilers retract to −4.5° and the stabilizer trailing edges return to the trim position. This decreases the rate of descent. The question is, how will this be implemented in the DCS: F-14? Since the rotation of the wheel extends spoilers proportionally to the degree of thumbwheel rotation, a hat switch is on/off and doesn't give you that control. How are you guys at Heatblur and your SME's doing the DLC for landing?

Place ships in the pattern around the boat at the key points, destroyers and what not. Place the trigger zones over them. I've done this in the past. Not ideal but as far as I'm aware, we cannot offset moving trigger zones from the object it's selected to follow.
-
As far as we are aware, we cannot jump in the backseat, while in flight, in a multiplayer setting. Only in single player. If you're a pilot, you're a pilot and have to stay there unless you choose a new bird.

Thanks! We have some really talented people in the wing. Spiceman will be doing more of these, stay tuned!

Just a peek into the cool things we have goin on! Enjoy the presentation!

Negative, refuse to rebuy modules just for P3D. Switched to XPlane for my General Aviation needs. I really enjoy it.

Be happy you never got into FSX... I have about 6000 wrapped up into that sim that I no longer play...

That demo was indeed taken from flaps auto.... If you notice the stabilators were not set for 12 degrees up trim either... The FCS is very specific. You have very little pitch trim authority when flaps are in auto for a reason. The FCS will attempt to fly at 1G no matter what the profile. Sometimes small corrections are needed via the pitch trim but they are very subtle. When you drop the flaps the FCS is then giving pitch trim, which it's not trimming at all it's setting an AOA, authority back to the pilot.

Question about Livery and Names on Side of Aircraft
IceFire replied to Shrike88's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Jumpin, Your not wrong, in fact your absolutely correct. However, there are free options and alternatives to photoshop and really great tutorials on livery editing and something very simple as adding a name to an existing livery is a very low learning curve. -
Question about Livery and Names on Side of Aircraft
IceFire replied to Shrike88's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Edit the livery to put your name on it, easy. We do it in CVW-11 every person has their name, modex, noseart etc on their aircraft and the Tomcat will be no different. :) -
Chameleon, I think you're referring to an F14 mod that is out currently that uses the F15 cockpit. This is not that.
-
It's in the backseat on a display and I believe the pilot can pull it up as well up front.
-
Thank you very much for the explanation Cobra !
-
Correct, the A model does work that way. :)

Done, sorry posted in the wrong section x.x
