  1. I am using software version 8.0.213.0 (64bit) Driver version: 8.0.121.0 And as noted before, the only programming I have on my X52 is the mouse emulator bound as arrow keys. And the thumb-slider as v and b for airbrake in and out. Everything else is bound using the ingame settings.
  2. Save your ingame F-18 controller settings (as backup) and then rebind them and see if this helps.
  3. Just did a test run. I can hold trigger and press pickle button at the same time. I'm hardly using any macros in the software (analog stuff to keyboard presses is all), all buttons are set in the game. Try opening up the logitech software and enter the programming part. Then hold the trigger down fully, then press the pickle button. You should see the highlighted part jump from trigger to launch. This might show if the joystick reacts to the pickle button being pressed while the trigger is held down. Simply to see if it is an issue with something in the game or if it's something elsewhere.
  4. I have never gotten DCS to detect the mini-joystick, I went into the software for it and made a profile that made the inputs from the mini-joystick return keypresses, up, down, left and right. Then in DCS I mapped that to what I wanted ingame.
  5. Great, now I know what I'll be doing this evening!
  6. I am hoping to see a fix for the JTAC IR-pointer so it becomes visible again. Right now it's 1 pixel and anti-aliased so you hardly see it compared to some early screenshots and beta footage i've seen.
  7. Been using 64 bit for a while now.
  8. So far when I've delivered LGB's on target I've used automatic lasing with a 10-15 second lasing time before target. And I just got wondering if there's any pros or cons between doing it manually or automatic. Right now automatic works really great but I was wondering if there's situations when manual lasing would be preferred. I just got around to playing around with the MK-82AIR and I found it to be very inaccurate due to wind. How is this weapon best deployed in high-drag mode? With the ability to turn it into a low-drag bomb is it a valid option to use as a substitute for the normal Mk-82? What are the pros and cons with a low-drag Mk-82AIR vs a conventional MK-82? I know it's a cost issue and logistical, there are more Mk-82's around than Mk-82AIR's, but with those things aside on a pure weapon to weapon comparison.
  9. There is a really good guide for using triggers in the GUI manual too, very basic but it gets you started.
  10. I think this can be simulated in the game using triggers. You won't get the eye candy of having parachutes in the sky though. Have a specific aircraft fly over the area and use triggers to activate a group or two maybe three of infantry on the ground. Can do the same with all kind of infantry drop off.
  11. This is a great idea, I've bought a product like this for a flight simulator addon and I am very pleased with it. I could fly the plane in question, but after the dvd (containing several hours of footage) I can't just fly it, I understand each system of it. Depending on how you do this. It will help both "advanced" players to understand the helicopter a bit more. And also really help starer pilots come along very quickly in an easy and understandable way. At my current economical state, I could not afford the product but I would however be interested in such a product.
  12. I read that this "deactivate group" would do the opposite of activating it, eg. removing it rather than adding it. But let's hope. This thread I read wasn't by Wags or any other official, but rather someone pointing it out. (I found this while searching for a way to make troops hold), but I don't remember the thread location. Well, the main idea with contour lines and topographical information is that you should get a good idea of the height in the area from a quick overview. The way that you pointed out works, but it consumes time and doesn't give you that overview of the height from a quick view, which is what I'm looking for. The shading we have now would work too if it was way more detailed than it is. You can have an area without shading and still have height variation of what seems to be 10-20m. Which would be ok, if the ground AI could search their way to a hulldown position at the top of one of these. But as it is now, you need to manually place them in the right place to give them the ability to see over the top of this incline.
  13. Didn't know where to post this, so I thought that this part of the forum would be nice. The Mission Editor is decent, not bad compared to some, but not good compared to others. And I do understand that the ME is constantly being worked upon, and that this is a bit of "Mk. I" of the editor in the DCS series. I got a few things I miss in the editor which I would like to see in future updates and/or DCS Modules. 1. Height detail in the editor. I'd like to have a better topographical view of the map. This shadow option we have now is not as detailed and "honest" as desired. Having contour lines showing increases/decreases in height on the map would be nice, if it would be scalable with different options, maybe dependable on zoom level, showing you 2m interval per contour line when very zoomed in and 10-20m when zoomed out. This would make it easier to see how the terrain is in the 3D view without having to test play it. Now, it shows you some, but it's not detailed enough which forces you to check the map (in test play) more often than would be necessary with a more detailed topographical view. 2. Holding waypoints. (PS, if there is such a thing at this, please tell me how to actually get it to work. I read the manual, I've searched the forums and the net without solution.) At this time, you can not (I think, after hours of testing) make a ground unit hold at a waypoint while waiting for a condition to come true. There are work-arounds to this but none of them work as well as having this option available from the beginning. Having a unit on hold, showing from the start using the check box, and then become active is my preferred way at this time. But this renders the unit useless until activated as it will not shoot at or be shot at while not active. This is just an example. Having a group of MBT's follow a set of waypoints, then at a selected waypoint hold until a group of IFV's have reached a set location before moving on. Making them work as a team without having to time the waypoints perfectly. And while holding at this waypoint, being able to be fired upon and returning fire. If they stood there and were "unactive" they'd just stand there even if a convoy of BMP's drove infront of their noses. These are my only two real issues right now at least concerning the editor. I am spoiled with options when it comes to other editors. Especially options at waypoints and triggers. And I hope that one day DCS' Mission editor will be at par with these options (at least options that are usefull in BS).
  14. I'd enjoy the CH-47 for some reason. There's something about dropping down on a hot LZ, get the group and get out of there, I would probably enjoy doing.

JaNk0, long time, no see. Du flög med [moose] ett tag va?
  17. Oh yes, someone moving in a zick-zack pattern towards you is the worst type of target (for me at least). The time to target (for the projectile) and the irregular pattern makes a hassle. Anyways, I haven't been hit by a tank's main gun yet. What get me most of the times are either SAM launches I'm not aware of or the small caliber roof mounted guns. And the not so usual radar guided missiles. I need to check out this TOW thing, their range is very "short" (based on Steel Beasts experience) 3km or something. So being 5km away would bring me outside of harms way from TOW's at least. And at these ranges, a AP round from a tank would be hard to put on a target aswell even if it's moving really slowly (as you do when hoover, I'm never still. I move in one way and another in 2-3km/h)
  18. I got my ideas on this. I know that they may be a bit far fetched, but still. I've done blue on red and gotten the same thing. 1. Do you have a "mission"? Like CAS, ground attack and such and not just "nothing"? I wonder if this matters, if you are not supposed to kill anyone but you do it anyways? 2. Is an attack area attached to a waypoint? Kind of the same reasoning as above, if you don't have a target area to work within. Then are you really supposed to attack anyone?
  19. I'm up for it... I pretty much suck at flying the heli, I need all the training I can get I reckon.
  20. It's a shame that the russian version won't be available for us in Europe. I had already decided to buy the russian version now and then buy the western version upon release. It would not have been the first time I've bought a different "language-version" game while waiting for the one containing english. I did it with ArmA where I bought the german version and then the english version once it was avalible. I follow this sentence. I think more people should. "If it's good enough to play, buy it and support the industry." I was really looking forward to getting the russian version this weekend, but now that won't happen. But at least I do know that I will get a european version in due time, that's good enough for me. So I'll give ED a pat on the shoulder and a "keep up the good work." while I wait for another few months. I've waited this long for it, I don't mind waiting a little longer.
  21. I fly FSX on a regular basis, I don't fly Lo-mac that much anymore though. I still take up the SU-25 and SU-25T on a flight now and then only for the flightmodel. Sure, they are competitors in the flightsim scene, but at the same time they are not, they are all covering different stuff. FSX gives you things you can't get in Lo-mac and vice versa. Even though I got the different flightsims I think is worth my time (except a few, I can't afford them all). I'm still waiting for LOBS, Nothing can compete with that! But when I have LOBS, I won't quit flying FSX or any other sim as they are all different. Try landing a Boeing 777 in Lo-mac, or do a flight from ESSA to KLAX. I think many here do as I, I don't buy one sim to skip the other, only if they are more or less "same thing, different name". I don't think sales has dropped that much due to the release of IL2: 1946 (the same as all IL2, except more planes, there are too many now, you won't fly them all) or FSX. None of them offer the same thing as Lo-mac or LOBS. Is FSX and IL2: 1946 killing LOBS? Hell no! Nothing can kill LOBS except for ED wich could go "bah, let's drop this project." But they won't.
  22. Mine's quite cheap. Good connections aren't very expensive in Sweden. 100Mbit/s(download) with 10Mbit/s(upload) is around 320SEK/Month, that brings it to EUR: 34.63 each month.
  23. That didn't work good... Lousy server for me, I checked towards Malmö, Sweden and got. download: 21321kbps Upload 2693kbps And at the end of the day, the results are far from what I can prove from just downloading files. So I wouldn't say that it's a good test tool if you live in Sweden and got a connection higher than 8Mbit/s. It said the recomended server was in Russia for me, and it capped out at 4700kbps. Downloading several files at the same time: 8.9Mbyte/s Uploading maxxed out at 1.13Mbyte/s
  24. IMHO, this COULD be a cheap, maybe not a printscreen thing, but it can be alot of things, but at the same time it could be nothing more than a bandwith issue from the missiles. If you think about it, how hard can it be to map a button on your joystick or keyboard to launch a program or similar, or just copying data using alot of memory doing so?. You could create such a "cheat" where you press a key loading a program or data, forcing a huge drop of framerates making your warp. You could use some trial and error on this so you only load for a short while so you stop warping after a second or so. I am not saying the person is cheating, I'm just saying this is a way to cheat. PS, I do not like cheating, and I do not encourage it. Cheating is bad, Mmm'kay? It ruins the fun for everyone involved
  25. I would say yes. I'm no expert or anything, but since the bullet was in the plane, the bullet is traveling at the same speed as the plane. Then when the plane fires the bullet, it gets extra acceleration from the explosion that forces the bullet out from the muzzle. Then it would go even faster. But like I said, I'm no expert or anything, so please prove me right or wrong you peeps who knows things like this.
