  1. https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/speech-to-text#prompting (the local version of whisper supports this as well)
  2. Here is the newsletter for January: https://www.8492sqdn.net/posts/newsletter-2025-01/
  3. I've been using this for the entire last year with the F-15C and MiG-29
  4. I've released v1.1.0, which add an option to use OpenAI's Audio Transcription API as an alternative to running speech recognition locally. The documentation has also been updated with a another quickstart guide for running SkyEye on Windows alongside DCS using the OpenAI API.
  5. v1.0.0 is out! It's basically the same as the last pre-release version, but with updated documentation.
  6. Your settings aren't great, DLSS by default in DCS is really bad with ghosting/blurriness. See https://www.8492sqdn.net/guides/dcs/performance
  7. Soon! I'm preparing for the v1.0 release at the end of the month and I'll be redoing a lot of the "marketing" around that time I also just made a quick-start guide for running on Hetzner Cloud, targeted at less-technical users: https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/blob/main/docs/QUICKSTART-HETZNER.md
  8. @BIGNEWY This looks like a relatively simple one, could you help get it triaged with the devs?
  9. Since the Flashpoint Levant launch I've been continuously releasing new versions; the latest version is available at https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/releases, and the sample cloud-config provided in the repo by default pulls the latest version and runs it as a container image. The release pace is too fast for me to update this thread every single time.
  10. They allow ships (both civilian and military) to communicate using morse code/semaphore signals if radio communications are not available or desired for some reason.
  11. When I play MP with a squadron, we don't use the game's ATC because we prefer to do the ATC ourselves over voice chat. How do we disable this weird feature in that case? Thanks
  12. December newsletter: https://www.8492sqdn.net/posts/newsletter-2024-12/ Turbine opened a bug report on GitHub, which helped uncovered a pair of bugs in the Windows release fixed in 0.13.2. Reminder: I don't monitor the forums, open bug reports on GitHub to receive a timely response. See the above newsletter - I'm working on a solution for LOS restrictions but it won't be available until next year.
  13. A user reported this issue on the Flashpoint Levant server. They were unable to see the slot menu after connecting through the server browser or using the DNS name eu.limakilo.net. They were able to slot in after using the IPv4 address.
  14. November newsletter: https://www.8492sqdn.net/posts/newsletter-2024-11/ Close to v1.0 - no bugs remaining, just three issues to go!
  15. +1, also experiencing this, it's _very_ annoying.
  16. I forgot to put the October newsletter here: https://www.8492sqdn.net/posts/newsletter-2024-10/
  17. The October development newsletter is now available: https://www.8492sqdn.net/posts/newsletter-2024-10/
  18. A new patch release has been published. This contains some fixes for handling certain cases that may occur in TacView data. https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/releases/tag/v0.5.2
  19. A new release has been published. There aren't any massive features in this one, but rather some minor fixes, improvements, and an interesting new companion tool for autoscaling. A private squadron is running SkyEye in their weekly missions for only around $1.50 USD/month by using this autoscaler. SRS' secure coalition radios/coalition audio security is now supported. Note this is not an actual security feature (hence why SkyEye was effectively bypassing it before this version), it is a roleplaying feature only. PICTURE requests no longer require callers to provide their callsign. Tweaks to the bot's pronunciation based on SME feedback. Tweaks to speech recognition based on playtesting. An autoscaler companion tool has been added which can be used to trigger creating or destroying a SkyEye cloud instance as needed, significantly reducing hosting costs. See the documentation in the admin guide for details. On Windows, WinSW is now bundled for service management, replacing the PowerShell wrapper script. A configuration flag has been added which redacts non-essential STT transcriptions from the logs. Download and full changelog available at https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/releases/tag/v0.5.0
  20. Took me a while to figure this out. I have tinnitus so sometimes it's hard to me to hear the audio, text is easier for me. Set each highlighted potentiometers to max AND make sure it's pulled out. Right click all of them except the one labeled TALK, on that one a left-click toggles between in and out.
  21. A new release has been published. Controller now broadcasts MERGED calls, and also includes MERGED WITH fill-in in PICTURE, BOGEY DOPE, DECLARE and SNAPLOCK. Fix an issue where the controller would broadcast a FADED call for every group when the mission was changed/restarted. Download available at https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/releases/tag/v0.4.0
  22. You can still use QVR with a non-eyetracked headset for fixed foveated rendering! It's handy for headsets where the curvature of the lens at the edges means that full resolution at the sides isn't visible anyway. Or in my case, my eyeglasses have some distortion at the sides anyway lol.
  23. A new release has been published. Controller now responds to your radio checks with a less confusing message when it heard you but can't see you on the radar scope (e.g. because you're still starting your aircraft on the ramp) Slight improvements to speech recognition quality Controller will no longer respond to your DECLARE or SNAPLOCK calls with a declaration for your own aircraft Player's guide updated with recommendation to avoid callsigns that sound kind of like numbers (e.g. "Knight"/"Nine") Minor updates to documentation and various internal improvements Download available at https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/releases/tag/v0.3.1
  24. There's a test instance running on the Flashpoint Levant server right now, if you'd like to try it out.
  25. In 2024 the only reason you should use a spinning hard drive is if you need to archive large amounts of rarely accessed data (and your scale is too small to justify using tapes instead). They should be avoided for gaming use. This article is _fifteen years old_ and even back then the benefits of SSDs were easily worth the cost. And today, they are affordable commodities, not premium items like they were back then. https://blog.codinghorror.com/the-state-of-solid-state-hard-drives/
