They are some of the best moders here. Their mods reduce VRAM usage and improve performance. Additionally improve visuals. You can find them in the Mods section of this forum. TAZ textures are a must, better trees, and the Caucasus better textures from Barthek and LuckShep are all very good. The quality I get now in cockpit is insane. But just 45FPS an NO complex missions or multiplayer... I have run the 13600K at 5.7Mhz at -0.080V, but at -0.125V 5.5Mhz is the max I got. 4-6ms in Instant Action is typical for me (DCS MT). At 90 FPS I should reduce rendering to 100% (from current 200%) and pray. I will give it a try, but I doubt I will get 90 FPS. Thank you for suggesting! I am just a noob, trying to get the best performance possible.

Hi everyone. I would like to share my settings (just after some few hours) and experience. Hopefully is helpful. System: 13600K air-cooled with IS-67+ PNY 4090 + 32GB DDR4 3600 CL16 Gear 1, in Fractal Ridge. VR with HP G2. Gear 1 memory eliminates stuttering. My experience with DCS 2.9 is... WOW... OpenXR Tools Mix Reality 200%, all key DCS settings ultra (except Visib Range high), DLAA, NO DLSS, SSS on of course. Afterburner 950mV, 2790Mhz, +1000 Memory. FPS limited to 45 FPS with Rivatuner. GPU temps always under 65C. I run many TAZ, Barthek and CGTC (LucShep) mods. Mods have been a must for me. I get 45 FPS in Syria and Caucasus mods. INSANE CLARITY. SINGLE MISSIONS, Instant Action, no Multiplayer. Unfortunately DLSS is too blurry for me. MSSAx4 is very very close to DLAA, but DLAA gives better performance. CPU is not important in VR, my 'simple' air-cooled 13600K can run at 5.6-5.7Ghz (tested, performance 98% single core 13900K), but just at 5.1Ghz CPU timings are 5ms. HT disabled. Temps always under 70C (undervolted -0.125V). Nothing compared to 20ms aprox from GPU. So if you are in VR, save and buy the best GPU you can afford. You do not need top notch CPU and water-cooled stuff. I run an insane PC in a tiny and inexpensive Fractal Ridge (of course, undervolting CPU, GPU and managing temps, but with the same 'stock' performance). IMPORTANT: USE THE TOOLKIT. CAS 100 gives me the extra sharpening punch for the insane clarity. If you need 2-3 extra FPS, Foveated Rendering is your friend there. Additionally, you can play with colors and other visuals. I do look forward to Vulkan and a 'usable' DLSS. Current DLSS is not good enough, a pass for me. But we are in the good path. Thank you to the modders that share their wisdom and time with the community. Enjoy DCS 2.9.

So unless the authors say other thing, it seems Taz and Barthek great mods are still highly recommended for 2.9. Good to know! I have used them all, and all I can say is THANK YOU.
-
And are they necessary yet? Or does 2.9 include any of these benefits?
-
Resolution percentage Perhaps? Hi Windows mixed reality tools (not the Toolkit) Pink googles, first setting By default 100% If you run 4090, you can go 200% easily, this is making resolution over 4440x4300 I guess At 4852x47xx, someone said it was optimal for G2, dcs 2.9 crashes for me. It gives you great visuals, of course lower FPS
-
DLSS and SSS can not be used at the same time
-
Are you running memory at gear 1 in BIOS? For me it improved fluency. DLAA and CAS 100.could be a good.combo, DLSS and CAS 100 usually works well. I will try later
-
I had the same with 4090 for some hours after the update. In my case afterburner settings for 2.8 did not work for 2.9. Only 15-30 FPS in welcome page... With 2.8 I was 215 WMR, MSAAx4, FSR 78. Awesome visuals, 45 FPS. With 2.9 i tried letting afterburner at default, no undervolted. The FPS issue at welcome pago gone. Then it worked well at WMR 200, DLSS Quality and CAS 100 (toolkit). Today I will try only DLAA. SSS seems.to cause odd shadows? There are some issues with terrain shadows colors as someone mention in a previous post.

Most of us dreaming of those new patches, or confirmation we are good to go with current versions
-
Many of us dreaming of updated Taz patches for 2.9. Or confirmation current versions are good to go. Hopefully our dreams will come true sometime in the near future
-
Having DLSS option is nice. Not better visuals than 2.8 with FSR at 77-78pct with Toolkit though. Anyway, this is a good start. I am sure it will be better and better in next patches.

Good to know I am not the only one suffering from the long load times Bad to know it is an issue... It seems ED run too much to launch F15 without reviewing rest of the code...
-
Most of us expecting this like gifts in Holiday Season! Thank you Taz!
-
Thanks to Taz and other friends mods, this game is playable. No mods, no playable. It is incredible that Sirya with mods gives 15-20pct more FPS than Nevada without mods. Enough said. And ED and developers still looking at other side... I don't get it.
-
Sometimes I feel members understand how DCS works and what it needs better than ED.... DCS + community mods = awesome experience in VR with 30 series GPU or higher DCS alone, not playable with high settings in VR, at least for regular non 4090 people

CGTC - textures overhaul mod for the Caucasus map
KCOOL replied to LucShep's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
This is great. Thank you so much. Your trees and forest are gorgeous. I just did a couple of test fights, but I believe Taz techniques treat VRAM better, key for VR. Is there any way to combine this awesome and beautiful mod with VRAM savings? Best -
I hoped latest dcs update from yesterday made this mod unnecessary.... No cigar. These mods keep being GOLD and MANDATORY for everyone in VR. Period. Thank you Taz.
-
These mods are true gold. I still do not understand why ED did not/ has not done this. I just tried Persian Gulf (no Taz work) and it is clearly performing worse than Syria with Taz work....
-
Barthek, legend Barthek, great work as always
-
Taz legend.... There should be some kind of program for people like you that help improve ED and developers modules... If not paying you, at the very least providing you with everything (hw and sw) required for what you do. Man, I know you do this without any economic objective, but you are improving the value of ED and the developers, and they should see this. Just my 0.02
-
I do not understand developers do not PAY you for your work. So they do not even give you the map for fee so you can work for then for free? Taz, what you are doing here is great, and many map and module developers are VERY short sighted... No mods for decent VR performance, no interes on even trying new maps for free for me... Why should be try or buy something with much lower performance in VR? Razbam, take note...
-
As always, BIG THANK YOU. This gives us some additional FPSs. Silverstone ML08B-H super slim case, z690i, 3080 10G overclocked, 13600K at 5.7Ghz air-cooled, 32G DDR4, DCS ST, FSR 77%, all your mods, OpenXR Toolkit, HP Reverb G2 at 4750 x XXXX resolution with all textures high, x16, 40 FPS solid in Syria VR, 42-45 FPS in Caucasus Barthek. I am able to max VRAM, but not oversaturate it. Every savings on VRAM counts... Amazing experience, crisp and detailed image, impossible without all your mods. Again, THANK YOU.
-
I see a better performance in VR after this patch. Like if ED had followed some of the suggestions from Taz and other awesome modders in the community. Are you seeing something like that?
-
MT has been a good addition, mainly for those with old CPUs. I feel DLSS will be even more important for most users, especially in VR. We know DLSS is coming this year. But do you have any further guidance? Can we expect the 1st DLSS implementation for May's patch? Best
-
Amazing work, thank you so much!
