  1. Hi! I,'ve seen this happen in missions 4 and 5 (I haven't been any further into the campaign). Sometimes the rockets won't fire at all (I suspect it happened when I cycled the trigger safety button before arriving to the range), otherwise I can fire at first but only 10 rockets will be fired, after that the trigger becomes unresponsive. Belay the inner/outer ring. I can't take screenshots this evening, maybe I can try tomorrow. When I loaded the Instant action rockets training, I was able to fire all the rockets. Thanks!
  2. Ok, this seems to be an issue with the campaign, in the instant action I was able to shoot all my ordnance.
  3. Not yet there but there are dlc campaigns coming. Baltic Dragon is working on the Gamblers campaign (on Syria map), there's also the Weasels over Syria campaign coming from Ground Pounder Sims and, probably more distant, Reflected is working on the F-16 campaign for the upcoming Kola map. The Gamblers coming is actually one of my main motivations to learn the Viper. But I definitely miss the experience of the Mirage campaign blending training and story.
  4. Probably just a switch flip I'm missing but can't nail it in the manual. I've been flying the rockets training sorties in the Kursant campaign (L-39C). Only the inner group of rockets (5 per pod) would launch, after that I press the trigger, cycle the usual switches on the pedestal console etc with no effect. And I'm puzzled to why one would need an additional action to enable half the pod.
  5. Yup, I tried that. It helped a lot back when I started flying the L-39. In the Viper, I wasn't sure of the result, I feel I got into even more Pio, especially in pitch. Strangely, the Harrier, by all accounts more difficult than the Viper, seems more manageable to me, it takes a lot of attention to fly it but I can hold it steady. Also, the Viper does accelerate but doesn't like to slow down. In the Mirage, I can pop the airbrakes, maybe execute a barrel roll and I can rapidly kill 100 kts of closure rate, allowing for pretty aggressive rejoins, with acceleration carets and spot-on fpm on the hud this is doable, in the Viper I just zoom past the lead.
  6. I just tried Doppler's formation flying trainer... Oh well. I'm still fairly new do dcs. I've been mostly flying the Mirage (went through the stock campaign) and while I still enjoy it a lot I wanted to learn something more competent in a/g role. Now I feel the Mirage was a sort of cheat code. I scored over 80% of the time within parameters on first trial (still insufficient, I know) but with the Viper I was hopelessly bobbing all over the place chasing the lead then barely avoiding crashing into her. Looks like this plane is actually harder than what I was told, or I'm just spoiled.
  7. Hey, I didn't notice my old thread had been revived! Well, I did gradually become somewhat better. I probably don't trim nearly as much as I should (I guess it would have been way more intuitive IRL with changing forces and physically moving stick center). Also, the Kursant campaign might actually be too hard for a complete beginner, I feel I'm grinding my way through it more easily after going through the Mirage campaign
  8. Similar era for sure. They actually competed several times for export contracts, the Jag was consistently considered better for a/g (which is pretty logical). Also, the updated M model only came way later and never got any targeting pod while the Jag was carrying one in the '80s. It also carried the AS37 anti-radar missile for some cold-war era SEAD/Dead.
  9. Clearly, yes. Lasing capability would be a unique one in a cold war setting (at least for a single-seater) right now if we want to buddy lase for an older platform we have to bring in a much more modern "buddy". Historically, French Jags pioneered single-seater self lasing. They almost sold the ATLIS to the US but American military finally dropped it as they had no shortage of two-seater.
  10. Sume pics ot the French Jaguar cockpit, the original one and the slightly modified variant, with a 5 inch monochrome display added for the ATLIS video feed.
  11. I've been getting enticed with this plane recently. I think Gr 1/A version would fit better. Realistically I think most people would pick the Tornado instead of the Jag anyway but I'definutely get a Jaguar. Also, I have a big French bias. Until the Mirage 2000D and the SEM came about (and I don't believe we're getting any of those) it was the only designation pod-capable platform. Would be a terrific complement to the F1 and capable of quite a punch. On top of everything g, the combination of the properly ww2 style cockpit of the Jaguar A with ccio/ccrp and targeting pod is somewhat mind blowing to me
  12. I'd definitely love one! With the F-16, the Mirage 2000 and F1 and the upcoming Phantom and A-7 it seems we have the entire Greek inventory, on the adversary side, I think only F-104 is missing...
  13. A first-world problem here: I have a hybrid hotas made of a Winwing F-16 throttle and a Vkb Gunfighter stick with the MCG grip (more-less Su-35 layout) with extension. I sort of assumed that I'd have to convert to a more Viper-wish setup by removing the extension, moving the desk mount to the side and shortening it. A lot of tinkering... And I still fly other modules (mostly the Mirage and the JF-17) for which centerstick layout fits perfectly. On the other hand, if I move to the side I will still have a moving stick but I'd give up the added precision of the long stick. Barring a separate base, possibly force-sensing one (no budget for the moment), would you recommend rearranging for a side-mounted side stick or keeping it long and center mounted?
  14. Yup, I only read the first one but it's definitely interesting, I'll try to get the second one. Shame the author seemingly didn't have access to professional editing, it's more less self published. The subject matter deserves better treatment. Also, the first book ends with the end of he Iran-Iraq war, with hindsight that feels strange... I'd like to know if the people I just read about made it through Desert Storm and the rest. Anyway, it's great so see the Iraquis as real and competent people, not targets. Back to the plane, the EQ6 would definitely be great. The F1 could act as a stand-in for the Étendard and the Jaguar
  15. That, 's bad news, I realli liked them, especially the Take Off one. It doesn' t really make sense to me to discontinue such a product (the Virpil panel is way more expensive and I prefer the winwing layout), except if they are introducing a replacement. I'm not sure I like the 1:1 replica thing as I don't fly the Hornet. A generic panel with nice gear and flaps levers would be great.
  16. Winwing's software allows multiple settings for the ab detent. On top of that, the detent can also be adjusted in "special" settings of the Mirage which is my main module, maybe some other planes do that too. I came up with another thing: while I'd adjust the ab detent of any plane I fly with the physical detent of my F-16 handle, I calibrated the throttles asymmetrically to accommodate non-after burning planes. This way, when I fly the Albatros or the Harrier, they are set to full throttle at the mil power stop and I don't have to operate the detent. Of course I grmet less range but it seems ok
  17. So do I! But it was a struggle. I still get best results with Opencomposite ans OpenXR (default updater icon, runtime set to OpenXR), followed by Steam VR. For some reason the native OpenXR (edited shortcut with --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR options) never gives me more than 30 fps. With default shortcut I still have the OpenXR Toolkit and framerates betsween 60 and 30 (without Motion reprojection).
  18. Just found this topic. Same problem, I recently managed my first refueling in the Mirage and wanted to try in the JF. I was expecting to struggle with the engine inertia, instead I got defeated by the pitch PIO. In VR, with a long stick. I have to try the Attitude hold trick. I always found the JF very stable, it was even the first aircraft I landed in DCS (although I must admit Mirage is easier). Also, the Il-76 seems to have way more wake turbulence than the KC-130.
  19. I might be beating a dead horse here but... Do you know some good sources on French F1 operations in Africa? I know we have the Spanish versions but we've all seen those videos of French F1s flying crazy low level. From what I've read, there initially was an air to air component to those deployments, against the Lybians. For a/g work, they were initially assisted by the Jaguars which carried the designator pod. Towards the end, some 2000s (D anc C as bomb truck) joined but reportedly were almost resented as intruders in the F1's own playground. This makes me wonder, during years of deployment, there were no pod-capable aircraft in the area? I can't believe they always had a jtac on ground, so did they just toss dumb bombs as CAS work well into the 2000s?
  20. Must be the reason why I missed that. Thanks for the info @Silver_Dragon
  21. I completely missed the multirole aspect. I was seeing it as a lardmge interceptor, rather unwilling to dogfight. Well, that gets more interesting. What kind of a/g capability can we expect?
  22. I clearly remember an enthusiastic post from Deka about this plane, it's enormous fin and American radar, from a few years ago. That means they are just sticking with what they have been intending to do all that time. Can we assume they do so because they know what they are doing? Honestly, I don't remember the reactions when the JF was announced but even now plenty AF people don't care because it's obscure, or too Chinese. And the module is great (by the way, the first aircraft in dcs I landed). So, good luck and keep up the great work, I'd surely fly this bird at some point... And yes, I was hoping fot the Q-5.
  23. I can hardly compare to any other serious throttle. At first I was using only the dry power range of the throttle in the L-39 and really didn't miss the extra travel, it seems that it's still longer than lower end/older throttles such as TWCS or the CH Throttle. I then moved to faster jets, got the detent calibrated for the Mirage and the JF-17 abd just operated the detent when I got back to the L-39; It isn't really satisfactory, I will have to find something more consistent if I get serously into the Harrier or pick up the Kursant campain. Not sure about it, but this may be an advantage of the F-18 handle, I wonder if you can't just remove the afterburner detent while keeping the cutoff/idle one
  24. I would guess so for the operation mode. Anyway, we also know Indian Mirages have been mostly used as precision bombers, as Indian AF likes their MiG-29 very much and considers them largely superior fighters. I know RAZBAM doesn't plan to introduce any export variants but frankly, adding that would vastly expand the possibilities of employment while staying on the same technological level as the old basic C model (actually, I think the export Mirages retained the inferior RDM radar?).
  25. I have very much the same concern, having a full AMD rig
