  1. Unless "log" file is modified outside the calling function such that it executes bad things. This is, essentially, XSS in a different form. Anyway, not the place to discuss this :-).
  2. A someone who spent weeks last year dealing with the fallout of "processing logs as code" nonsense... loading a logfile as code is a profoundly dangerous practice and a huge security risk. ED should really not be doing that...
  3. Look up "Zwift" for a comprehensive answer to this question.
  4. Or the OP could be in a country that is currently affected by rather interesting governmental action in regard to DST (Chile), which affects... ~everything.
  5. Great job @prestonflying - new release of SimAppPro is out and credits you and this thread. I suppose others pitched in through support tickets as well. Let's see if this solves our several issues!
  6. They may be older to you, but for some/many of us - as long as they are being sold, they're kinda new :-). Supporting legacy products sucks.
  7. Musical hint.
  8. That's what I've been taught on the tiny little Cessna as well. You drop them in the turn, and balooning is almost imperceivable. If you do it in a level flight, you just have to handle the additional lift.
  9. Live and learn, but... yeah, makes sense.
  10. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but, when you box the TCN, you're essentially declaring that to be your "target". Target, whichever source it comes from, will be on the SA, because it's kind of tactically important thing. You will also observe that when you do this, your previously selected target goes "poof".
  11. For an inexperienced naval aviator like myself, it's really difficult for me to gauge whether it's me or the effect, but what I am experiencing, and would like to know whether this is it is: I am approaching the carrier, ball is centered, and then just behind the carrier, I find myself abruptly way too high, and LSO yells "waveoff waveoff". Now, I know I am approaching slightly too slow and probably need to be a tad more aggressive, but is this how it manifests itself, or is it something else? Does this effect go away if wake turbulence is disabled?
  12. Therein lies your problem. I believe that's currently broken in DCS, or at least in F/A-18 module. Just use A/G and suspend belief until it gets resolved
  13. Were you trying to use A/A mode perhaps?
  14. If you box up the TCN, I do believe it will show up as a waypoint indicator on the SA page as well, would it not? In combat, that's pretty much what I'd expect - "this is where I fly towards for safety".
  15. Poor person. They have no idea what they're in for!
  16. I mean, if your friend is a pilot (it was unclear from your messages), barring joining the navy and succeeding in becoming an aviator, this is the only way to get 0.5% close to ever landing on a carrier. It's exciting!
  17. Carrier ops win the day, and is the only reason I live with the endless frustration of having to use labeled buttons instead of nice and comfy HOTAS ;-)
  18. Funny how different brains work differently. To me, this is the most logical, straightforward concept. Absence of it on F/A-18 still messes with my brain after months of flying it. I want my SPI and SOI on Hornet!
  19. ... so that anyone listening in can lase all over the place with it?
  20. Well, I'm used to weird and obscure systems (I kinda do that for living), and I used to fly with Garmin G1000 and others, which are truly an exercise on how to NOT design UX. I found Viper's systems logic to be a little more compatible with how my brain worked than Hornet, but as Rob suggested above, it could just be that F/A-18 "complexity" is hidden behind unlearning Viper. One thing on Viper is that you can do a lot more with just HOTAS than you can on Hornet.
  21. I only recently got into DCS, and I started with F-16. It was great fun, and just enough complexity (for me) inspire me to look for something a bit more challenging. I thought that F/A-18 offered more variety with carrier ops than other aircraft. Mind you, I'm mostly here because I enjoy flying, procedures, etc. A/A combat and bombing is secondary to me.
  22. Right, but most folks turn these off not to have an advantage, but probably to have a working sim... Let's be honest here... what these do is the equivalent of a marginal gain in cycling in not having 10 gram reflectors on wheels because they add "rotational weight" and lose you 0.05W. If reflections is what turns into a disadvantage in the dogfight, I would argue that dogfight was lost before it even started.
  23. Yeah, that would be a *dis*advantage. How does having reflections on turn into an advantage?
  24. I am curious how would reflections provide advantage/disadvantage to anyone in a dogfight? For tinted canopy at night, I could see a disadvantage, but no idea how that would be an advantage? Perhaps flying into the sun? Can you clarify?
