  1. I feel the same as when I fly the F1 and I shoot 530s at the enemy: the limited radar and missile capabilities only allow to shoot once and I'm already at the merge. BVR is a distant dream. More practice is needed as this is probably due to operator error, but I'm getting exactly the same vibes.
  2. It's explained on the picture from the manual. It looks 8° degrees to each side and it overlaps 1°. From what I understand it's like a primitive vertical scan mode that searches in a fixed line in front and above your nose. So if you're turning it still scans above your nose, whichever direction it is pointed at, not above the horizon. It's not stabilized.
  3. As others suggest, use lens inserts. They're very good and cheap enough. From what I read the focal point of most VR headsets is around 1-1.5m, so your reading glasses won't help while playing.
  4. I suffer this too. Even when exiting the mission, still have stutters and low fps on the main menu. GPU usage shows 100% but the temps are low, near idle. It happened twice last night flying the Phantom over Cyprus on Syria map in a very simple training mission.
  5. Yes. On HEAT the radar is looking at the center. With RADAR is looking to the right, with GUN is looking to the left.
  6. Yes precisely that folder. It holds your login, beybinds, options, customizations, most of the mods, etc. You can reinstall the game from scratch, paste that folder in your new PC and you have your DCS back exactly like it was on the old computer.
  7. The Phantom doesn't have 3 screens. I learned to fire Mavericks and drop bombs last night. They work. There's a very specific checklist you have to follow. It's a 1960's airplane. I don't know what were you expecting.
  8. Everything in the saved games folder.
  9. Try these. Your PC is better than mine, so take these as a baseline, you should be able to use much higher settings.
  10. This issue started with the change from 2.7->2.8 when they updated general light and illumination. Now we have more range, which I'm sure has a positive side, but my experience has been dark interiors and a completely washed outside most of the time. For me 2.7 was the sweet spot.
  11. Just starting to scratch the surface of the Phantom, but I can tell you for sure is more similar to the F-14 than the Hornet or the Viper, which makes sense being 10 years older than the Tomcat. Radar complexity is nowhere near that of the F-14 and all A-A stuff is simpler. It has a million switches on the cockpit but every button does one or two things. For me too this is easier than remembering in which one of the 20 MFD Menus is the thing I'm looking for. It's an amazing module, and, as any older jet, has a very distinctive "soul" I don't find in newer planes. I'd say go for it.
  12. You can if you're using any of the ACM modes I think.
  13. For some people, activating "Global cockpit illumination" option has helped with this issue. In my case I don't see any difference.
  14. Meta desktop app has a built in test for your cable. Check if it passes.
  15. Nothing to be sorry about mate. We all learned the hard way when we started our VR journey. This is the option we were talking about. How are you connecting your Quest to the PC? You need to activate Link connection (or Airlink in case you want to play through wifi), not just physically connect the cable bewteen the two. I ask because it happened to me at first when I had no idea what I was doing. You see a new environment once you connect. White and empty like this: Once in there just launch DCS through the regular desktop shortcut in your pc, if everything is right the game should start in VR mode.
  16. Not at home right now but in the meta desktop app go to options - general - "set openxr as default runtime" if I remember correctly.
  17. Is your headset enabled within DCS? I don't think you need the --force commands anymore. At least on my end, when you launch the MT.exe, as long as your Quest 3 is connected to the PC, it will start the game in VR mode.
  18. Set up a dogfight between an AI MiG-21 and something else with you as an observer and watch it pull 9G sustained turns without losing speed. Yes, you can beat it but there's nothing to be learned with that. The tragedy is the "real" flight model of the plane already exists: it's the one the game uses when you are the one flying it. If you want to dogfight against MiGs, use a 19 or a 23. Their performance is more in line with reality.
  19. Same situation for me. The module is amazing but my FPS are half of all the other modules I own. The option to decrease simulation rate makes no difference.
  20. Jester bailed on me when I was intentionally stalling the plane to check if the engines would flame out or not. Apparently it was too much for him. The engines were fine and I landed safely. Questions were raised though.
  21. Same performance as the Tomcat for me with a very modest PC and a Quest 3. The F-14 was heavier than most modules at launch and it got better over time. I think it will be the same for the Phantom.
  22. There is a separate button for that, lower on the right side.
  23. I'm happy to report Jester is keeping up the traditions:
  24. It's going to be a paid module, but it doesn't seem like it's coming anytime soon (Aerges have to finish the F-1M before). On the positive side, the Mirage F-1 is an amazing module, so I don't expect the 104 to be anything less.
