  1. Thank you, Scotch - toggling the affinity seemed to help the performance at the main menu. Still getting lots of stuttering when actually flying, but at least the main menu is smoother now!
  2. Jumping in to say I have also been experiencing major performance issues lately. i5-9600k, 2080 8GB, 16GB RAM, Win10. So I admit it's no longer the most powerful computer out there, but it used to be able to run the game very well before the latest patches. Now, even at the main menu, I see the mouse cursor stuttering every 5 seconds seconds or so. In fact, looking at task manager, one core is completely pegged out at 100%, and another core has very high utilization as well. This is just sitting at the main menu. When flying, I'm getting a lot of stutters as well, even on very simple missions (for example, the built-in mission for the F18 that has you dogfighting a single Mig-21 on the Nevada map - not huge AI unit count there). Looking forward to a solution for this.
  3. Just finished the campaign, and have to say I really enjoyed it. It was a very clever way to get around some of the normal DCS campaign limitations, and was fun to consider the different possible approaches before each mission. There was one issue I ran into on several missions, where the AI flights would somehow crash during air to air refueling. I think this may just be the AI being the AI, and I was mostly able to mitigate this by staggering the push times (push Devil 2 & 3 first, then wait until they were almost at the tanker before pushing 4 & 5). That said, I only ever noticed them tanking with Texaco 3 & 4 - never saw anyone go to Texaco 1 & 2, so maybe those could be moved slightly east and make more sense as an alternate route (with enough air superiority rating of course). I did have one question though: how is the end of mission scoring calculated? It seems like I perpetually scored lower and lower with each passing mission, even though I felt I was doing a good job. On a related note, how can I successfully pass "The End" mission? I think other campaigns have just automatically given you 100% score on their final "victory lap" missions, so I think it should be possible somehow?
  4. Thanks Sandman, this may have been user error... I just played the next mission today and my wingman was responding to commands. I think what may have happened was that I was issuing all the "mission setup" orders to the other flights using Aux radio and just got in the habit of hitting the Aux button since we don't really need to switch comms from Pri/Ch1 and Aux/Ch2 in these missions (except to land). I guess all the F10 "setup" commands can be issued on either radio, whereas Devil 1-2 is only up on Ch1, which I had tuned on Pri.
  5. First of all let me say I love the concept behind this campaign. Very cool idea to let the player have some control on the mission setup - hopefully ED is watching and will more formally integrate some of these mission planning and persistent features into the game. However, I can't get my wingman (Devil 1-2) to do anything. He doesn't respond to any of my orders. Engage bandits, engage ground targets, go to tanker, RTB - nothing. I don't even get the standard DCS response of "roger engaging bandits" or whatever - there is simply no response at all. I've tried giving him various loadouts of different weapon types in the mission planner and he still doesn't do a damn thing, and just flies around until he runs out of fuel. As a workaround to at least prevent that, I've started just giving him 3x fuel tanks and some aamrams just in case he wakes up, then pretty much ignoring him. The other flights seem to be at least doing more or less what I assigned them do. They do have what seems like high propensity for getting shot down (I feel like by usually sticking around the AO for too long and trying to suicide strafe things when out of other weapons) but at least they attempt their missions. Are there any tricks to getting Devil 1-2 to do actually do something?
  6. Thanks for the background info, ChillNG. But still after 20+ tries and different tactics I could not survive the attack run, always getting shot down by AA or manpads or something. Don't know if I fundamentally misunderstand the timing window after Newt says he's in or what. Anyway, eventually I just 'cheated' and changed the loadout to bring a JDAM and that quickly solved the issue Was able to do good damage against the secondary objectives with the rest of the default weaponry. Got through Pt3 no problem and really enjoyed the ending to this great campaign!
  7. What are the best strategies here? I've tried multiple times, and always get shot down over the fuel dump. Couple questions that I will spoiler so as not to ruin it for anyone else.
  8. Ah, thank you. Somehow I had missed that/ Anyway, finished the mission. Great campaign, loved the
  9. This may be a very dumb question, but how do I access the 'skip ahead' feature in the F10 menu for missions 14 & 15? I try the normal comms menu and don't see any F10 options for this. Asking because I ran into the issue with M14 where Olive wouldn't take off (sounds like that's already being looked into), so I skipped that entire mission on the campaign menu but am wondering if the mission itself works if skipping ahead to somewhere after launch. On M15, I got shot down by a SAM on the ingress, and would prefer to skip ahead at least after the AAR to try the ingress/strike again, just to save the long transit time.
  10. Interesting, I will try the open beta version from now on, thanks for the tip
  11. Just played Mission 09 today. Looks like there is a bug during mission start where one of the F14's (Spartan 1-1, DCAG I think it was?) taxis right into the tail of the E2 (Knight?) when it is on the catapult, destroying them both. I just downloaded the stable 2.9.1.48335 update on Steam today. Thing is, when I was trying this mission yesterday, and still on some version of 2.8 I suppose, I don't think that collision happened. Nevertheless, I don't think this majorly impacted the rest of the mission. The voiceovers from DCAG still occurred, and I don't think Tomcats actually did anything in this mission, anyway. Also, I feel like some triggers didn't work as intended towards the end of mission. There were absolutely no comms from Raven 33 after reaching WP7/Waikiki on the return. I just pressed on and landed anyway, but I think something was missing there. Maybe that's partially because it took me a super long time to find the TELs, and according to some other threads, you have to find them quickly to progress the mission fully. So that might have broken some of the later triggers, I suppose.
  12. I am having trouble locking on to the second TIGR with the IR Mav. I can destroy the first one fine, and then my second Mav always seems to grab a lightpost on the highway so I tried strafing the TIGR instead (emptied all my rounds across multiple passes), and it seems invulnerable. Is the mission set up so that you have to destroy it with a Mavrick?
  13. I ran into the exact same issue today. Got the weapons off on the first attack run (2x JDAM or 2x JSOW), weapons appeared to impact their targets, then the script must have broken or something, got no further narration updates or instructions. Also, the training mission for GPS weapons (the one where you start on the carrier) says additional target coordinates/waypoints will be in the kneeboard but I could not find it. Hoping these kind of bugs can get fixed - while there are lots of good youtube tutorials and of course Chuck's guide, I really prefer the interactive training missions.
  14. Just wanted to pop and say thanks to Baltic Dragon for making this campaign - it was a really great experience. I played on 2.8.1 and did not run into any major bugs. Quite frankly, the biggest problem was the braindead wingman AI that would frequently fly into the sides of mountains (which is a DCS problem in general , not problem with this campaign). The best way around that was usually to order your wingman to anchor at the IP (high altitude) and then I took care of all the targets myself. Often the default loadouts did not provide quite enough munitions to do this, so I usually added a few extra bombs/rockets/mavs and was able to take care of pretty much everything myself. All in all, an excellent campaign!
  15. Anyone else having radio issues when contacting the tanker? I see a few posts above, but from 9-10 months ago. I'm on the right freq (I can hear the tanker reporting he's going to turn at each waypoint), but I never get a response from him when trying to announce my intent to refuel. Happened to me both when playing the 'full' mission, and when trying just the AAR part. This is my first time trying to link up with a tanker - am I missing something obvious here?
  16. Thanks for checking baltic_dragon. I tried again but couldn't hold formation (my fault!) so I'll keep after it!
  17. Same thing - loving this campaign so far, but I just finished this mission today and I got a score of 75 (and the previous one as well) and I'm not sure why. I have some ideas on why I might have lost points, but not sure: 1.) Honestly I didn't fly in formation very well with Biff most of the time. There weren't really any instructions or briefing from him on how to fly formation other than left echelon, how close he wanted me, and most importantly, what speed he was aiming for at the different waypoints. I was really having trouble staying a consistent distance from him as we passed the different waypoints, especially in the early parts over the lake. He seemed to vary between about 220-270kts but with no rhyme or reason. I'm still fairly new to this game and module - is there some way to view your wingman's speed once he's hooked on the TAD? 2.) I exited the runway and contacted Ground and listened to the end of mission banter about getting a beer (love those little details in these missions, btw). Got the "Mission Complete" message so I just quit right then rather than taxiing to the parking stand and shutting down. Anyway, what a great idea for a mission so I'll try it again, but getting more feedback/clarity on the scoring process would be a great enhancement for future campaigns.
