I have recently started flying the AJS-37 Viggen - what an incredible aircraft! Great fun! The Viggen has a targeting reticle that is used for Mavericks - it is old technology and an absolute arse to see anyhthing through, but I suppose it shouldn't be any other way. Unfortunately I'm a blind old git and I have to zoom right in and still squint at the screen to see anything. Before anyone suggests it, yes I have the brightness and contrast bound to my joystick. I have a Cubesim MFD Screen that I have set up for the Schval in the Su-25T and I was thinking I could use the same for the aiming reticle in the AJS-37. Has anyone got a setup for this or can someone guide me regarding editing the LUA file. At the moment I am using the LUA supplied by the Cubesim guys (attached) when I bought the screen. Thanks Nial CUBESIM.lua

For anyone interested in Flaming Cliffs aircraft, a new discord has been set up by a guy called Deiced. The aim of the site is to get a few like minded people together to fly low key missions on a non formal and friendly basis. If you make a dodgy radio call nobody is going to give you a hard stare! The discord site is called DCS Ground Attack and you can join here ... https://discord.gg/jNZDFdEQ

Hi draconus. I'm not going to continue this conversation as it was merely me expressing wish list when it comes to DCS World, it was not meant to become confrontational. I'm not sure that flight simulators were specifically aimed at the ground pounding market in the 80's, but I stand to be corrected, and I am also fully aware that there is no chance of ED creating a full fidelity Su-27T, mores the pity.
-
By the way, I'm not having a pop at ED, it's just my wish list. When I started in computers I have Amstrad word processors with a green screens and no WYSIWYG. I went through 8086, 282, 386, 386 DX. 486, 486 DX and the then Pentiums came out! Everything ran on DOS at least before the 486s. It took a week to get a scanner to work after you had spent days editing the Autoexec.bat file! When I started flying flight simulators it was a blocky thing with wings the sort of juddered across the screen. It wasn't until the 486 and early Pentiums that you could buy a flight simulator that flew relatively smoothly across a very low resolution screnery and we thought that was out of this world. People who complain nowadays that a tree is a bit blurry don't know they are born - So, ED, you blow my freeking mind! Low fidelity or high fidelity, this flight sim, along with the likes of MS Flight Simulator, X-Planes etc, are absolutely out of this world! Thanks guys ... BUT a full fidelity Su-25T would be sort of nice

Is there a way of turning down the brightness of the Petrovich targetting reticle? Also, if I use the countermeasures sub menu via the Petrovich menu, that will burn out your retinas in low light!

I think the problem is that the Russians are not known for giving out the plans for their aircraft, let alone letting a man with a camera crawl all over them! At least there's a chance of finding a nearly intact Su-25 SM3 in a field in Ukraine! Besides, I don't hanker for a more technically advanced plane, or necessarily modern plane. I want something low and slow. I am not into all of that BVR thing! Shooting at a dot on a radar seems a bit pointless - we were doing that in the 90's with sims like F-16.

Hi I like making my own missions and there is one thing that eludes me! I may have three or four aircraft I can fly in the mission, maybe hot and cold start, or different munitions, but the only visible plane at start of the mission (other than static aircraft) is the one I spawn into. What I would like is all of the aircraft to be visible at the start. I think something changed in the 2.9 update that allows this - or maybe I read it wrong. I think the 2.9 update has this feature but maybe only in multi-player missions? Does anyone have any thoughts on this or any ideas how I can make this work. Thanks Nial

I saw the Polish Air Force Su-22 at the Fairford RIAT this year. Regarding full fidelity, yes, I have all of the aircraft listed by Mike_Romeo as well as the Mig-19. Of course there are full fidelity aircraft on the red side but, apart from the Hind and the Black Shark, there isn't a dedicated ground attack airplane. I love the A-10C II and the both the Hind and Ka-50 III for the low, slow, sneaky ground target busting. It would be nice to have a similar aircraft as the A-10 on the red side so that pretty much leaves the Su-25T. What's the chance ED can get their hands on a the Su-25 SM3 version? Su-25SM3 GrachSu-25SM3 Grach

HA! I found it ... it's not in the mission editor, its in Options > Special > Mi-24P > AI Hides Boxes. This needs to b eunticked. I'll leave this post up in case someone else has the same issue. admiiki, thanks I didn't see your post until I had just posted my own reply LOL But yes, and thanks for your reply.

Hi Guys Somehow I have managed to turn off the labels in the AI target designation reticle! All I can find regarding turning them back on is a reference to setting it in the mission editor. I hav ebeen trying all sort of settings but I cannot get the labels back on. Any ideas? Thanks

I love flying my Su-25T! It's the plane I was first introduced to in DCS and I go back to it time and time again. I'm sure many other people are the same as me. I have the MOD that makes some of the cockpit clickable but I would really like a full fidelity Su-25T. I'm sure it would be a great seller, I know I'd buy it. We are getting all of these new planes for DCS and I have a few full fidelity aircraft, but there is nothing full fidelity on the red team. I love low level, whites of their eyes, missions so I fly the Viggen, the Ka-50 III, the Mi-24, the A-10 Tank Buster of course and I just coughed up for the Phantom, but it would be great to have an updated Frogfoot, or similar axis ground attack aircraft. Anyone else agree?

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
Nialfb replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi Rudel_chw. I just saw your post regarding the removal of missing modded equipment - I always had an idea that was how it works. If you built the mission, it is you already have the necessary mods so the only problem it might cause is if you have disabled a mod, forgotten about it and then gone back into the mission! EEK! At least it lists the mods that were used and it is easy to check integrity if you want to fly the mission. I wonder if you then turn the mods back on if the equipment magically reappears in the mission? BTW - I can't say I have experienced any issues using the mods I do use as I think all of them were listed in the ED mods search. Regards Nial- 531 replies

fixed Green wireframe around some aircraft
Nialfb replied to Nialfb's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
Since reporting this phenomenon I can't say I have noticed it recently. If I recall, I saw the green box on an AI transport aircraft. It seems that th eimages above are transport - doesn't really explain the Harrier report though. -
fixed Green wireframe around some aircraft

regarding the weird shdows, I found that the effect is caused by having SSS enabled in the Options. See the attached screenshot - this shows the effect with SSS enabled. Turn off SSS and all is well in the World. Nial -
After installing the 2.9 upgrade I went through my entire hanger using the Free Flight option to test. Everything seems to work fine other than the Tucano MOD - that crashed DCS every time I tried flying it. Sorry MOD writing fellows, that went in the bin for now! One anomoly I found were the shadows in VR! I lost the will to live trying to sort that one out! The shadows go haywire if I fly anywhere near high contrast areas. I'll leave someone with a bigger brain than me to sort that one out and wait for the 'how to' YouTube video. The only other thing of note was green wireframe boxes around some AI aircraft. They must have all been 'official' DCS aircraft as I was flying using the Free Flight option from the aircrafts Instant Action menu. I tried finding the green boxes again this morning, but short of flying every route again in every aircraft, it would be difficult to pinpoint exactly where I experienced the issue. Cheers Nial

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
Nialfb replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi Guys For those who are not into MODS, I have uploaded my training mission again and taken out the MODS. The mission is a basic weapons training mission for the A-10C tank buster. You have the option of either a cold start A-10 or a hot start on the runway. Once you have destroyed the main convoy you will receive a message to contact JTAC for tasking. If you are not familiar with JTAC procedures, just look for the Willy Pete marker to find the additional targets. You will get shot at in the mission but you would have to get close and personal so it isn't one of those, 'fly for 15 minutes and then get blown out of the sky' kind of missions! It is a mission I put together to help me get better at the A-10C weapons. Enjoy Nial A-10C - Destroy Convoy & JTAC.miz- 531 replies

I thought the mission could still edited in the mission editor. I use the mission to test different options and equipment so it seems like a mish mash of things going on. I'll take out the optional bits and reload it. It's just a good fun weapons training excercise for the A-10C III.- 531 replies

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
Nialfb replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi Rudel_chw - That is pretty much what I did. I am using parking 01 & 02 so it's a bit dark at that end of the airfield. I've put the lights as you are showing them, around the main building and the workshop. I used the top hanger lights for that. I also put four lights behind parking 01 & 02 and also lights on the four light towers. Its enough. I just thought it would be nice if we could place our own light towers - I'm just being greedy really I've attached my mission if anyone wants a play - I am new to this mission editor thing so don't expect too much. I've got some A-4E's, as well as a few other 'non critical' things going on in the mission but they are just eye candy so could be deleted if anyone doesn't have the relevant mods. Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
Nialfb replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi Massun92 Many thanks for your asset pack, it adds another level of immersion in the missions. I have been using the light templates in some of my mission as the airfields I fly out of are very dark if you get back after dark from a mission - Beslan for example. Beslan, like many other airfields, does not have light towers as standard, so although the lights work great, they are just lightng not attached to anything. How about creating some light towers to go with your lighting effect - that would be brilliant and I'm sure it would be a popular addition. If this has been discussed before, please forgive be as searching on these forums is like wading through treacle! Thanks again Nial- 531 replies

Hi Guys I have a simple weapons training mission that I created for the OV-10 Bronco. Just for a bit of eye candy I have a second AI Bronco and the pilot walks to the plane. He enters a trigger zone that deactivate the pilot and the plane starts. It just goes off and does it's stuff and returns to base on an F10 radio button. I tried to put in an aircraft ladder but if I get too close to the AI plane, my plane moves to a vacant parking spot! I figure there must be some sort of built in trigger zone to say the parking spot is taken and the ladder is triggering it - but then I already have th eAI plane in that spot so my logic falls on it's face at that point! As the plane is AI controlled I don't get the option to set it to Take off from Ground, which I think may resolve the issue. I 4have also tried changing the plane and I only seem to have the issue when using the Bronco. I have seen this discussed on the forum somewhere but I have searched for ages and I can't find it so forgive me if I'm going back over old ground! Google doesn't turn up anytihng either. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks

Static objects cause planes to move to vacant parking
Nialfb replied to Nialfb's topic in Mission Editor Tutorials
I have been testing and this only seems to happen with the OV-10 Bronco mod. I tried it with a couple of other MODS and also a couple of 'DCS' aircraft and that works fine. I'll leave this post here for now but I'll repost it on a Bronco forum as it may be a bug. -
