Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
Nialfb replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
I had this in one of my missions. I found that for the Red alarm state, the 'IS USER FLAG' condition had reset and was unchecked.- 531 replies

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)

The lua file kindly provided by 313 SQN JD works great, until I add an Invisible Farp to my mission. Add the farp and the saluting guy doesn't spawn, take it out and the lua file works fine again. I can work around it but I'm just letting you know. Nial- 531 replies

Hi Massun92, a great mod, thanks for all your hard work. I love building missions as much as I do flying them. One question - the guy saluting is still saluting an hour later when I get back from my mission! When my plane starts rolling, the trigger works and he salutes but his 7 arm must get tired because he doesn't stop after ten second. Am I missing something? Thanks again Nial- 531 replies

Transfer steerpoints from the F10 map into the aircraft - DCS: The Way
Nialfb replied to Comrade Doge's topic in DCS Modding
I think the issue is that, even though you have the MOD running in VR, it is not recognised within VR itself so you won't see the green circle. It's like an external program running. I open my mission in Mission Editor in a 2D session and use the green circle to select the target waypoints and I save these to file. In VR, I open the MOD and start DCS - the MOD detects the plane I am flying and I am able to open the file with the saved waypoints. I then just need to click on the upload to plane button in the MOD and, although I am in VR, the MOD uploads without a problem. Okay, so the downside is I can't see the MOD without lifting my VR headset momentaril, which is why I was asking about OVRDrop. That is an app that allows viewing seperate windows inside the VR environment. It isn't going to help with saving the waypoints initially but it will help with uploading the waypoints to the plane. If I need additinal waypoints in game I can just set mark points and use those as a waypoint in the normal way. -
That would make sense becasue I swap from the pilot seat to the engineers seat during startup. I will try dooing the entire startup fro the pilots position and see what happens I did some testing based on what LazyBoot said in his last post. If I do the complete cold start from the pilots seat, the altitude button works, even while on the ground. As soon as I move to the engineers seat it turns off. Back to the pilot seat, press the 'Collective Clutch Lock' button and the altitude hold works again, except in this instance you can only engage it once off the ground. I don't know if this is expected or correct behaviour. It would be nice if ED could say, one way or another. Thanks again LazyBoot.
-
Thanks LazyBoot, you are my hero! The 'Collective Clutch Lock/Release Button' is indeed engaged during a cold start! For anyone who hasn't got it bound, it is the round button on the collective. I tested by doing my usual cold start. I took off, no altitude hold. I pressed the Collective Clutch Lock/Release Button - TADA! Altitude hold is working, not that I'll use it HAHAHAHAHA. Okay, so I will not use it much, it's just that not having it work was driving me mad! Thanks again Nial

My cold start attached. For some reason my TrackIR didn't follow the mouse very accurately but if you look where I'm looking you'll see the switches I turned on. I didn't set the radio for this excercise. And also apologies for the wobbly take off, I've not been flying this long Mi-8MTV Cold Start.trk
-
I turn on all three rectifiers during my start up procedure.
-
Regarding being above 50 metres, I think I am right in saying that, in the hot start Mi-8, you can engage the altitiude hold while on the ground. Not that you would ever want to do that.
-
Hi Art-J I am definitely above 50m and, as far as I know, I have all of the critical systems turned on. The only thing I may not have set for a training mission are the radios. Besides, I followed the start up from cold from the 'training' sub folder. I also followed a video on YouTube from a reliable contributor, vsTerminus. He has a series of training videos specifically for the Mi-8.
-
Perfect! Thanks for that, it will save me hours of head scratching!

Thanks, changing the folder name worked great I thought that the folder name in saved games/liveries had to be the exactly the same as the folder name for the plane MOD in the main Eagle Dynamics folder. If the names are different, how do we know that? I looked through some of the lua files but there isn't any clue in those.
-
Thanks guys, I'll give it a go
-
Am I being daft, or what? I downloaded some liveries for my newly acquired Mi-8MTV2 and put them in my liveries folder ... C:\Users\*my folder*\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Mi-8MTV2 I got the name Mi-8MTV2 directly from the main DCS folder to make sure I got the spelling and case correct ... C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft I went into mission editor but the new liveries weren't there, I just had the original two liveries available. I thought initially it might be a DCS version issue so I deleted the the livery files and only downloaded those for version 2.8.8 but I got the same thing. I'm now thinking it may be a country thing in the LUA file. For instance, in one of the US airforce liveries there is a line in the LUA file - name = "USAF Flat Gray" countries = {} I assume countries = {} means there is no restriction on the countires selected in the misssion editor? Anyway, if anyone has any ideas it would be good to hear from you. BTW, yes, before anyone asks, I did unzip the livery files - see image attached Regards Nial

I've done some more testing. This time I ran through the full cold start procedure in the 'Training' sub menu. Altitude button did not work. I then flew the free flight mission from the 'Instant Action' sub menu (the helicopter starts hot). The altitude button worked fine. If I fly a mission from mission editor with the engine hot, the altitude button works. If I fly the same mission but with a cold start aircraft it does not! I can't see that I can test it anymore than that. ED, any comment? Regards
-
Hi IrLED I just checked this with a hot start and, yes, the altitude hold works. I went back and did a thorough cold start (one minute wait after turning on APU etc.) and the altitude hold doesn't work.I'm not sure what version I'm on but I only downloaded it a couple of days ago so I assume it is right up to date. Regards Nial

Hi Guys This may be a bug or may be that I'm just a dick! I fly the Ka-50 III, and it is one of my favourite modules, so I understand how autopilot controls work. I recently bought the Mi-8 and it's great fun BUT I cannot get the altitude hold to work in the autopilot. Before engaging I make sure my altitude is steady and my collective at zero. When I press the button to engage the altitude hold, the button presses but it does not turn green and the altitude hold is not engaged. The other two functions of the autopilot work fine. I have the 'special' options for the Mi-8 set as per the attached. nullAny ideas on this? Thanks Nial

hi QuiGon As I said, just carried out a repair to DCS. If you go into 'All Apps' fro the Windows start menu and scroll down to the Eagle Dynamics folder, you will see a link titled "Repair DCS World OpenBeta". I usually select the option to check all files. It takes a little longer but I think it's worth the wait. Regarding deleting the FXO and Metashader 2 directories, these can be found in your Saved Games folder ... C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta. I believe that if you delete them, a fresh version is created when starting DCS, hence the recommendation to delete them following an update. Regards -
Transfer steerpoints from the F10 map into the aircraft - DCS: The Way
Nialfb replied to Comrade Doge's topic in DCS Modding
I've been playing with this in VR. Mostly all I want to do is bring waypoints into my missions without having to type them in every time so I have found that if I save the waypoints to file, I can have the MOD running with the waypoints selected and just lift my VR headset for a second to upload the waypoints to my A-10C. Going on from that, has anyone had any experience of applications such as OVRDrop? The app allows you to have an Windows 'window' open in the VR environment - all I need to see is the Transfer to DCS window while in VR. I rarely need to select new waypoints while in the game as I would generally just use a Mark Point for that. -

Oops, I just realised if you click the red X it hides the green circle DOH! -

Outstanding. Thanks for a brilliant MOD. I fly the A-10C II and it works really well, especially the save feature, as it saves me manually enteringmy target waypoints each time for my training missions. Just one item on my wish list ... can we have the green circle indicator disappear from the screen when we minamise the app please. I have yet to test this in VR but for VR I use Voice Attack so I am sure I can map the MOD to that. Again, thanks for a really useful MOD. Regards Nial -
Thanks Cheefbird, I thought it was me just being a dumb ass! I followed the entire startup and was pretty cheesed off when Biff poleaxed me on the runway! I'll run the mission again when I get another hour to spare

I know this post is very old but I was searching for a solution to the coordinate entering in VR issue. It would be great if we could add mark points in the mission editor and then they are uploaded to the plane during load all. For now I have bound all of the letter keys and the numpad keys to VoiceAttack. The letter keys are used for some other stuff by default in the A-10C but nothing that I want to be using as I don't use the keyboard. I don't think I came across anything that was't bound to the hotas anyway. I have the coordinates for targets in the mission briefing and/or on my kneeboard so I can easily find them. I then create a new waypoint in the plane in the usual way and just read out the waypoint coordinates using VoiceAttack. It took a while to get to grips with how quickly I can enter the coordinates but I have noticed I can enter the next digit as soon as the last has appeared - I have it set to 0.1 sec in Voice Attack but I'm sure I could reduce that, i'll experiment. I hope this helps UNTIL ED allow us to set mark points in the mission editor! Please!

I think I have fixed this although I haven't been able to diagnose the problem. I opened my origial mission file, theo ne where the script worked, using WinRar and I copied my 'Spawn Patrol.lua' to the clipboard. I then opened my new mission file, using WinRar, and pasted the lua script into that file over writing the original. It all seems to be working but I have spent hours trying to diagnose the problem and I gave up! If anyone wants to have a go at diagnosing the issue I would be grateful as it just adds to the knowledgebase Cheers Nial
