Transfer steerpoints from the F10 map into the aircraft - DCS: The Way
Nialfb replied to Comrade Doge's topic in DCS Modding
I've been playing with this in VR. Mostly all I want to do is bring waypoints into my missions without having to type them in every time so I have found that if I save the waypoints to file, I can have the MOD running with the waypoints selected and just lift my VR headset for a second to upload the waypoints to my A-10C. Going on from that, has anyone had any experience of applications such as OVRDrop? The app allows you to have an Windows 'window' open in the VR environment - all I need to see is the Transfer to DCS window while in VR. I rarely need to select new waypoints while in the game as I would generally just use a Mark Point for that. -

Oops, I just realised if you click the red X it hides the green circle DOH! -

Outstanding. Thanks for a brilliant MOD. I fly the A-10C II and it works really well, especially the save feature, as it saves me manually enteringmy target waypoints each time for my training missions. Just one item on my wish list ... can we have the green circle indicator disappear from the screen when we minamise the app please. I have yet to test this in VR but for VR I use Voice Attack so I am sure I can map the MOD to that. Again, thanks for a really useful MOD. Regards Nial -
Thanks Cheefbird, I thought it was me just being a dumb ass! I followed the entire startup and was pretty cheesed off when Biff poleaxed me on the runway! I'll run the mission again when I get another hour to spare

I know this post is very old but I was searching for a solution to the coordinate entering in VR issue. It would be great if we could add mark points in the mission editor and then they are uploaded to the plane during load all. For now I have bound all of the letter keys and the numpad keys to VoiceAttack. The letter keys are used for some other stuff by default in the A-10C but nothing that I want to be using as I don't use the keyboard. I don't think I came across anything that was't bound to the hotas anyway. I have the coordinates for targets in the mission briefing and/or on my kneeboard so I can easily find them. I then create a new waypoint in the plane in the usual way and just read out the waypoint coordinates using VoiceAttack. It took a while to get to grips with how quickly I can enter the coordinates but I have noticed I can enter the next digit as soon as the last has appeared - I have it set to 0.1 sec in Voice Attack but I'm sure I could reduce that, i'll experiment. I hope this helps UNTIL ED allow us to set mark points in the mission editor! Please!

I think I have fixed this although I haven't been able to diagnose the problem. I opened my origial mission file, theo ne where the script worked, using WinRar and I copied my 'Spawn Patrol.lua' to the clipboard. I then opened my new mission file, using WinRar, and pasted the lua script into that file over writing the original. It all seems to be working but I have spent hours trying to diagnose the problem and I gave up! If anyone wants to have a go at diagnosing the issue I would be grateful as it just adds to the knowledgebase Cheers Nial

Hi Guys I'm not sure where to go for help on this one but I'm sure there is a knowledgeable person on here who could shed some light on this. I like to practice creating missions and I have one that I have closely based on Diff3r's Deep Strike Mission - STANDARD version for the A-10C II Tank Killer. A part of the mission is that two hostile helicopters spawn radomly when I cross waypoint 4. This worked fine in my original mission - A-10C Bomb Attack Test.miz. I recently added a couple of friendly helis for eye candy and I noticed they had the same group name as the enemy helis (for some strange reason) so I renamed them. Ever since I get an error message whenever the hostile helis should spawn. I know the trigger is working as I get a radio message. The new mission, and the one giving problems, is A-10C Bomb Attack.miz attached. The error message reads as follows (sorry for the poor quallity!) - I hope someone can help, or maybe point me in the direction of where I can get some help. BTW, the mission requires the following add-ons/mods - nullJAS39Gripen, Military Aircraft Mod, SAM Sites Asset Pack and the Special Mission Aircraft and Operators AI Mod. Regards Nial null A-10C Bomb Attack Test.miz A-10C Bomb Attack.miz

solved Missing rocket Pods on inner pylons - Ka-50 III
Nialfb replied to Nialfb's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi QuiGon Thanks for your response. Given that it all worked fine for you I carried out a repair on my DCS install. I did the repair on all files and before rebooting I also deleted the FXO and Metashader2 folders just for good measure- I'm not sure what difference that makes but I know it is something we should do after an update so it must have some effect The result is that my rockets have re-appeared, YAY! On reflection I should have done a repair straight away but you know how panic can blind you sometimes! LOL kind regards Nial -
I have a training mission I created for the Ka-50 III and it has worked fine for weeks. I have noticed recently that sometimes the B-13L rocket pod is present and correct on the inner pylons and other times it is missing! I thought it may have just been a VR issue but I have tested in both VR and 2D and some days the rockets are there and some days they are missing! The only mod I have installed recently is the JAS39 but I have removed it and tested again and I still have the issue. Any ideas? Thanks 4 - AG Training (laser guided).miz

I am learning to use the mission editor and I have created a small training mission flying an A-10C II out of Gaziantep on the Syria Map. The QEF is 27.57 but when I try to set the QEF it won't go below 27.90. Is that an A-10C II thing, a Syria Map thing or am I just being dumb? If the mission looks familiar, I have based it on Diff3r's Deep Strike Mission - STANDARD version for the A-10C II Tank Killer A-10C Bomb Attack.miz

Is there a way of copying and pasting the JTAC coordinates from the CTLD script directly into an A10C waypoint, or is it possible to convert the coordinates directly to a TAD steerpoint as it does in the default JTAC. If not, can the message from the JTAC be forced to stay on the screen longer - active pause doesn't do it. I am asking because I have been flying in VR lately and I can't note down the coordinates while in flight and my old memory can remember about two digits at best!

Thanks again guys. And particular thanks to Yurgon, I now have 'another' favourite weapon in the M282. I am new to the A-10C so I have been working my way through the munitions and today was the first go on the M282! What a simple rocket to use. I'm too old to be blasting around in mega fast jets and killing things I don't even get to see. My favourite planes are the Su-25T, the Ka-50 III, and now, the A-10C. Of course I also like the simplicity of the war birds, once I get them off the ground in one piece I have downloaded the CTLD.lua scripts so I might give that a go for the JTAC. I have a number of targets dotted about and the in-game JTAC only calls up the group I allocate in the mission editor. I think the CTLD script allows the JTAC to allocate any target in line of sight.

I have noticed that the Maverick isn't the sure fire, fire and forget that I thought it was. Sure, if I am in close and personal I can select targets straight from the Maverick seeker and I am pretty confident it is going to do the dirty deed. The only reason I was trying to kill the Shilka from a stand off position is so it can't kill me first. I don't know what the range of the Shilka is but I would imagine I could get quite close, certainly close enough for a definite kill with a maverick, before it kills me. I have added a JTAC to my training mission so I think I'll get him to las the Shilka and I'll just dump a GBU-12 on it from a great height LOL Can a JTAC las a moving target? Just a thought. I like Yurgo's idea of using the APKWS.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm new to the A-10C, I mostly fly the Ka-50 II and the other Russian fixed wing aircraft. My convey has two Shilka's defending it, one in the front and one bringing up the rear. I am using Mavericks to take out the Shilka's at which point the convoy heads for the off road and comes to a stop. I can use the Maverick direct but my old eyes have a job seeing something so small as a Shilka in a stand off scenario. My thinking was to track the first Shilka using Point mode and set is as SPI, I then slave the Maverick to SPI using CH FWD LONG and BLAMO! Well, not quite because the Maverick doesn't seem to stay on the Shilka. If anyone has any other ideas of how to kill a moving target reliably I would be glad to hear from you. Thanks

Thanks for your reply aylw314, the size of the box doesn't seem to bear any relevance to the size of the object. If I hover over an object with the 'small' point mode indicator it will track a moving vehicle for instance so it must see something. If I slowly move the cursor over the vehicle there will be a point where the point mode indicator will snap to encompass the entire vehicle. Does anyone have any experience of this? When I'm creating Mark Points I have an idea that the vehicles marked using the full Point Mode icon is more reliable than when using the small point mode icon but maybe I'm just crap at GBUs anyway

I have a training mission I created with a convey of moving vehicles. When I use the Point Mode in the TGP to target the front vehicle, sometimes it will 'latch' onto a vehicle and follow it, i.e. the small square will latch onto a part of the vehicle, and sometimes the entire vehicle is selected inside a larger square. What is the difference and why do I get the difference. If the square is latched onto a part of the vehicle is the vehicle locked in the same way it would presumably be if the entire vehicle is in the box? I found that if only a part of the vehicle is latched, when I use CH FWD LONG to slew the Maverick and then use TMS UP SHORT, the maverick loses the lock. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Guys I have an issue with OpenXR Tool for Windows Mixed Reality that is driving me up the wall. When I launch the tools I get the message "Something went wrong - Error communicating with the Mixed Reality OpenXR Service" The result is that I am unable to access the settings. If I click on the Mixed Reality option I can run "Launch OpenXR demo scene" and throw big rocks around, so it is working. However, I want to be able to access the Settings as I want to make some significant changes. So far I have uninstalled OpenXR Tools for WMR, reinstalled, uninstalled and manually cleared out any sign of it in the registry, reinstalled - okay, so you get the picture! I checked the registry and under the Software/Khonos entry I am running 'C:\windows\system32\MixedRealityRuntime.json' If anyone has a fix for this I would be glad to hear from you. BTW - if anyone knows how to contact Windows OpenXR for WMR support that would be equally good! Does Windows support exist anymore? Kind regards Nial

I'm not sure if this was ever resolved and I'm not about to wade through all of the replies. I fly the Ka-50 III as my main aircraft and I spend a lot of time hovering, I also had the same issue. If you check your exhaust gas temperatures while hovering they can get dangerously close to the red, once it goes into the red the engines will shut down. There is a limit to how long you can maintain the hover. When my engines are getting close to being in the red I fly around to reposition my helo before going back into a hover. This cools the exhaust gas and puts them back in the green for a while but you do have to monitor the exhaust gas temperature if hovering for a while. Of course, maybe I'm talking out of my a***, but from my experience, if I keep an eye on the temperature the engines do not shut down. I also found this YouTube video - it might be worth a look

I don't think it's a bug that you can't have bombs and rockets in the same payload. It is my understanding that the Dora used the same wiring to drop the bombs and fire the rockets so it's one or the other.

HA! I've got it. Okay, so I moved my _MODS folder to the C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World folder and changed the 'Start in' properties in the launch icon to the same. I now have SNOW, or more to the point, a lack of snow!

Hi Kaplan I checked all of my other mods and they work fine. If I use the 'find mod' tool in JSGME and type 'Barth' both mods are foundso I aasume the mods folder destination folder is correct. I created a new folder called _MODS so it did not interfere with the default program mods. I just checked ... my new _MODS folder is in my Saved Games folder (C:\Users\****\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\_MODS). Should this be in the main program folder (C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World) Cheers Nial

I have a snowless winter question as I just cannot get it to work! Using JSGME, should I have the main MOD enabled and the Snowless Winter MOD enabled at the same time. I have tried just having the Snowless Winter MOD enabled (main MOD installed of course) but my terrain looks identical whether I have the MOD enabled or not. I use DCS open Beta with all updates installed. To install, I created a _MODS folder in the Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Open Beta folder and placed both MODS there. JSGME points to the DCS executable in the DCS Open Beta BIN folder. I start DCS using the 'updates' executable (but I don't think that makes any difference) and with either mod or both mods enabled in JSGME the snow looks the same as the default snow. If I have the main MOD enabled and then enable the Snowless Winter MOD I get an error dialogue saying that the terrain has already been modified by the original MOD - I have tried running the Snowless Winter MOD with the message both accepted or cancelled - it makes no difference. Any ideas?

A quick update ... The NS 430 is now working as expected other than the datrk/light thing. If anyone has any idea regarding what setting might be effecting this I'd be glad to hear. Im running the NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4090. My current settings ...

Many thanks for your comprehensive reply. I'll take a look at the GFX settings as things have moved on since I last looked.
