  1. Yes i have read the FAQ, i have started DCS both from steam UI and from the new DCS-exe from bin-mt, also DCS.exe--forceVR. Nothing changes the FPS. Notice I am getting MT to work, but I do not see changes if DCS settings go from real low to real high. Maybe that is just how good MT is but, I would think I would get much higher FPS with very low DCS settings, maybe I am wrong. Not complaining, MT is fantastic. Just wondering if I can get even higher FPS. I have set all my Quest2 settings to max FPS also.
  2. Mystery to me? Using MT i get the same FPS (180 in 2D, 72 in VR) with DCS settings set to all of them as low as possible, or opposite - many of them set to high levels. Any thoughts from the experts. Oculus Quest 2, I9-12900K, RTX 3090,64 g ram. Is my system max limited to FPS no matter what or do I have something set that limits FPS. Yes, all 24 cores are active per Task Manager, using oculus tray tool, latest Nvidia drivers. Any help would be appreciated.!!
  3. MT is great. I get 180 fps in Syria, F-18, instant missions, free flight, 2d screen. (I9-12900k, RTX 3090, 64 mb mem) However I only get 72fps in VR, Quest 2. I have tried all the suggestions here, I think. Any specific help or advise for Quest. Yes I know, I should be and am happy with 72, but could I get more? Its amazing how good things look at 180 FPS!!
  4. REALLY REALLY COOL Like seeing an airshow again. Wish they had more up here in montana
  5. I agree with you. The training missions could be much better. Can you imagine having one of those guys as your PI in real life (PI = pilot instructor). I'm 71 and have hearing aids and still at times have a hard time. However it is the modern way for the young kids, guys to teach. They already know it so they just rush through the steps. Very typical of computer programmers. Many of the online U-tube videos are the same. Most are not here to teach, only show how good they are. And 'energy drinks" they all use do not help. You will just have to do what I have done - read, read, read, and do the training missions many times, and keep watching various videos. It does get easier over time.
  6. And just go to Utub. There are 100s of videos, and u can make your own movies if you know how.
  7. OH YES, the troops move and shoot back at you, depending on what missions you select. There are complete ground battles. Using "combined arms" you can be part of the ground war or control from the skies. And be careful becasue the AI is very accurate. And Air-to-Air can be deadly. Create your own missions or download hundreds of pre-built single missions, master the training missions, master the Super Carrier, even long term inter-active progressive campaigns. HOWEVER - FAIR WARNING DCS can be addictive!!!
  8. Go to Grim Reapers video of how to use a TACAN to work like an ILS. Not exactly like ILS as there is no true glide slope. "FA-18C Hornet Airfield TACAN IFR fog landing tutorial."
  9. BTW I just ordered those desk mounts, just what i have been looking for.
  10. Please do not get to hard on winwing yet. I have had mine (Orion 2 F-16 EX Joystick and Orion 2 F-18 throttle) for only a few weeks. I was frustrated at first also. If you spend some time reading these forums you will find that most of the time the problem(s) is in the controller set-ups. Both winwing and DCS have a lot of presets for controllers. Please be sure you have gone to the 'settings' page on the opening DCS UI, and to controls, both 'all but axis commands' and 'axis commands'. There are a multitude of options for throttle and thrust. Make sure they are all set up correctly and are no double assignments. As well check 'sound' on the settings tabs and verify those are set up correctly. Is 'radio speech' checked. Verify when in your cockpit that your radios are configured correctly. Also on the settings page under 'game play' there is option for "easy communication", see if setting that to easy helps. The F/A-18 is a complicated aircraft and takes a lot of study to learn to operate it correctly, it is a 'study level' aircraft. Also check under settings if you have set 'Game flight mode', this changes some things too. I hope this helps. I have 450 hours of DCS time, as many hours reading the forums and watching training videos, (only about 50 flight hours in the Hornet pit) and still learning every day. BTW - when you resolve a problem it is always nice to here from you and post the solutiion on the forum so others can learn. Good Luck May you have as many landings as take-offs!
  11. There is a person on this forum who is a WINWING representative. The call sign is "Winwing". Maybe try puttting winwing in your title and see if he can help you.
  12. I am no expert but did you also check all of the DCS controller settings. Especially for the ac u r using, and under both UI interface and General. I know when i first got my winwing there were a lot of settings that had to be changed to get it to work properly.
  13. one note - if you do a hot start with the winwing throttle all the way off, ie, finger lifts up and thottle to idle, the jet powers done at start up. Just be sure the throttle is past idle and the finger lifts are down. Just a note is i fly the f-18. Another thing about the winwing throttle is if you have a toggle set for an action the game reads the toggle postion and may set the ac in that mod at start up. Example: i changed the flaps toggle to "active pause" and "pause" , got stumped a few times and could not get the jet to move because it was still reading "active pause" and so the ship would not move.
  14. Thank You. I have been looking for that "option" for days. Did not know it was set by default. I had searched through the formS, etc and did not see anywhere that it was an option. Was practicing using GMT with Mavs and kept having problems because targets stopped moving after first attack. Again - THANK YOU
  15. Downloaded the "40_mile.miz" mission. Change a few parameters. Just destroy one vehicle in each of the 10 groups and they all stop. War over. Maybe all the soldiers just grab their guns and run to the front. Will DCS ever change this happening to convoys?? I know, it is been commented on since 2012!!!!!
  16. I found out that FLAPS must be "full" down before conducting FCS (Y Key) test. Was doing 'cold and dark' starts and was not getting "go" after test. Try this and see if that fixes the problem. Same problem of one LEF down and the other up.
  17. I finally found where these kneeboards had been placed. They were under the Caucuses mods/terrains/kneeboards/
  18. My new dreams. AH-64E V6 and the new F-16 Block70/72. I know I'm just dreaming, just saw both debuted on news today. Way to new of AC for DCS to make, but wow, what upgrades these two birds have.
  19. Recently I have been putting all new kneeboard checklist etc into correct folders as you have above. I put some into a kneeboard file/folder a few months ago and cannot find them now to remove them. I do not have a """DCS.openbeta\kneeboard\""" files. Mine are only just """"\saved games \DCS\kneeboards""" I have a steam beta edition so part of my files are under \programfiles(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\DCSworld\etc. Do not know why I have two different places where DCS resides but I do. I just presumed it was because of being from Steam. I really do believe there was a generic "kneeboard" file under the basic file structure under the steam files that was changed with one of the last few updates. Any thoughts?? Not a game stopper, just annoying. It does not appear to be map or mission related. edit The kneeboard pages i do not want show up in all my fixed wing, f-18, f-16, f-14,p-51 do not show up in UH-1 or UH-60
  20. Help please, do not know where to post this. I put various kneeboard checklist, etc into the AH-64 kneeboard. But that was before the most recent updates. They show up in the F-18 kneeboard. They are not under the saved games/mods/kneeboard/aircraft/AH-64 or F-18 folders. I think I had put them into a generic kneeboard folder prior to the lastest updates. There is no kneeboard folder under the Steam/steamapps/common/DCS folder. Any help???
  21. I know this may sound stupid, but did you shut the bird down?
  22. Here is my advice. Like others have said "stick to one airframe". I have over 30 years of flight sim experience,(just turned 71), with 1000s of hours in the cockpit or flight deck depending on type of aircraft. I started before Falcon 4.0 came out, and spent 100s of hours in that sim. I have flown almost all of them, currently spend most of my time in DCS, but have XP-12, MSFS and VtolVR installed.. Go through the training lessons for that AC. Watch some of the many videos produced by members and developers. Read the manuals and advice of the experienced. Maybe even go read "Stick and Rudder". Be sure you understand all the dynamics of flight, Berneulli's Principle, lift, thrust, drag, gravity, stall, climb rates, etc, etc. Good equipment does make a difference, both your computer and flight sticks. Look at it this way, a military pilot spends 1000s of hours to become proficient, and most only ever get to fly in a few different airframes.
  23. This is a must. Every other good sims has it. Spend less money on the hype videos to sell more and instead fix things you already have. I have spent $100's on this game and almost every things is WIP
  24. I use the logitech X-56 rinoh Lots of switches, toggles, hats etc and 3 levels of modifiers. helps a lot especially in VR
  25. Thanks Jascha. Now I feel like I am in the right bird!!
