After several hours of flying it is definitely a good warbird. I will hold judgement regarding "the best" for now as that can be judged in many different ways. The cockpit looks great. Better than the early warbirds and in a par with the P-47 and Mosquito. Performance is noticeably worse than other warbirds (by about 10-20%). It is quite straightforward to fly, although there are some weird issues with ground handling that is likely a bug. However, personal preference has to come in to play too. I have a lot more experience with the 109 and love the way it handles in combat. It is very simple and intuitive. Same for the P-51 and to a lesser extent the Spitfire. I need a lot more flying time with the F4U to see if this is a warbird that I enjoy flying. I am quite optimistic though.

That is a lot of energy. However it must be focussed. As long as there is a convergence of rounds on vital areas then this should be effective. But a focussed burst on a wing panel would just create a big hole with lots of wasted energy. Hit a control surface, a fuel tank, the engine (and the pilot obviously) then this is different. In DCS i have not seen any 190s "explode" but plenty go down in flames. I find that 6 x .50s from a P-51 is more effective than 2 x 20mm Hispanos and 4 x 0.303s from a Spitfire. However that might mean that I am better at flying a Mustang.

That's quite a bold statement. To clarify did you mean that .50 cals would regularly cause 109s and 190s to explode in real life? And they don't in DCS?

That looks good. It says three in stock for me. £84. I'm tempted.

Where did you get the trim box?

I had forgotten about this mod. I must install not again. I much prefer the 20 mm over 30 mm. Gun pods would be great but I do not expect that they would have an accurate flight model.

I have not used this setup for a while. In fact I had forgotten about it. I think I bound them using using OTT and then the mouse software custom function.

Versatility, range and ground attack capability I think.

I've not tried that. Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a go.

Do you have any experience with the Quest Pro? That's what I am using at the moment and I am thinking about upgrading to the Crystal Super. What sort of performance are you getting with DFR enabled? Can you maintain 72fps? What do your CPU and GPU frametimes look like?

F-4E would work and the A-4 (community mod). We need the Mirage III and Nesher.

I just move my head where it needs to be and hit the recenter VR view key. Easy setup. -
Dynamic Foveated Rendering - Everything in one page

Not sure if this is the issue but you don't need to use DLSS swapper if you have the latest NVIDIA drivers. You can just set the NVIDIA app to use the most up to date driver. -

It would be worth asking NobiWan for advice (the author). -
These are great. What medium are you using?

I did a performance test the other day. Here is a brief summary of my results. I will publish the full results later. Flying over Guam at 1500ft. F4U mean 56 FPS, frame interval 18 ms P-51 mean 64 FPS, frame interval 15.8 ms Quantitative difference: 8 FPS and 2.2 ms frame interval in favor of the P-51. Qualitative (subjective) difference, negligible as both were below the 72Hz headset refresh I need to do more tests: both planes over Caucasus, Normandy and Syria. Settings: VR with VD Godlike and no QVFR. DCS mainly on maximum; does not really matter as both were the same, but I'll post full details when I release the full results; I will also include results when using QVFR.

Have you compared DLAA with DLSS quality?

XRNecksafer does not work very well any more. I find that the problem you mention becomes progressively worse. One possible solution is to have separate key binds for DCS recentre view and XRNecksafer recentre view. -
I have never tried the 3080 but I did have a 4070 (which is only a lille bit behind the 3080). I got about a 70% boost in performance with the 5070ti. It works very well with a Quest Pro. However I see that you have 32 GB RAM and a 9600k so I think you might end up RAM limited and CPU bottlenecked, especially if you use QVFR.

Try changing the config settings so that the foveated region is small, say 0.2x0.2 and the periphery too a low res, about 0.3. That way you should see it easily. Then you can adjust settings from there to get the right balance of quality vs performance.

Do you know where I can get a replacement weapon select (5) button?
