I just got the VKB F-14 stick and it has the emergency disconnect paddle replicated. I have been flying Heatblur's F-14 since it came out and have never used the the emergency disconnect before. The manual doesn't really say when it should be used just that it turns off all autopilot and SAS. When/Why would I want to do that? I'm thinking of using it for brakes instead.

It is hard for me to believe that the Russian airforce has not done any upgrades to the r-27 family of missiles in 40 years - a missile that is still widely used on their front line fighters.

I'm really annoyed that some people feel that they are entitled to get these new features for free. Think about it for a sec. You bought a 2008 Honda Civic. It did not come with a built in navigation system, just a CD player and radio. Now Honda is releasing a 2019 Civic with a built in infotainment system with bluetooth, navigation and a bunch of other features. Are you going back to the dealership and demanding to get those new features for free in your 2008 model? When you bought the Ka-50 back all those years, no one promised you a MLWS and no one promised you Iglas. Now you have the opportunity to have these things. Buy it or just be thankful that people like me will buy it and fund the 3D model upgrades that you can enjoy for free. I'm really excited to get the new 3D models(free!) and the new MLWS + iglas. I have the most hours played in the Ka-50 although I haven't played it recently because of the dated visuals and problems. I'm excited to get back into the Black Shark Pit. The only thing ED, please please please tell me this will come out some time this year.

I have no idea why they decided to conjure up the FC4 name to begin with. If they wanted to do this, why not just say: "hey guys, in order to attract new players to DCS world we are going to release "Lite" versions of existing DCS planes with simplified systems". Done. That's it. No one would have had their hopes up. No disappointments.

This is so, so disappointing. :( The FC4 had the potential to add aircraft that would not be possible to add as full fidelity aircraft, preferably for me Russian machines. Instead ED had decided to take existing full fidelity aircraft and turn them into FC level aircraft. I guess from from a pure ROI it makes sense but where is the passion for aviation? Where is the effort? Ok, so you would be reusing the flight model, reusing the external 3d model, reusing the internal cockpit 3d model, reusing existing code for sensors and avionics. What exactly would ED add to DCS world with this move? This is why it seems like a cash grab. It seems like a move without vision and without passion. Just a pure move for cash flow. Ed should not have said anything about this and just drop it on us if they just wanted more cash flow. FC4 brought a lot of hopes to people to add some new interesting aircraft. All that hope is now gone. If ED had chosen new aircraft for FC4 it would have made us happy and attracted new players but that requires effort.

I wish we could get an official statement on the issue of Russian/Soviet aircraft. At least so we know and can manage our expectations. If they came out and said "listen guys we can not publish any RU birds because of this this and this" it would bring closure to the subject and we can forget about it. So far they have been very vague about the subject. I remember When Wags did a video interview when they were promoting the Normandy map the question came up and he did not want to get into it. I'm not even sure the whole "no in service RU birds can be simulated"is a rumour or not.

In game, the 2 outermost wingtip pylons used for the r-73/ecm pods share the outermost lamps. This is not realistic? So the mechanical connection for the inner most pylons are there but there is no way for the fire control system to fire munitions?

I read somewhere that the inner wing pylons are not used by the in service Su-33 aircraft on the Kuznetsov. As well, any photos/videos I see of the Su-33 operations in Syria show the aircrasft with no inner wing pylons. Anyone know why? It would be nice to be able to remove those pylons for authenticity sake.

Who determines what load out to carry during a mission? I'm guessing mission planners but does the pilot have any say?

Reading through the Russian forums, I was able to find a post by Chizh that confirms that this behavior is correct. It is NOT a bug. When adjusting the aiming mark in the game stabilization turned off as a result of the brand shifted under the influence two factors, the angular displacement of the aircraft and the angular movement of the joystick. If the angular velocity of the aircraft is more than the rate of movement of joystick, there is a feeling that the brand does not move to where it directs the player. In order not to have such neponyatok airplane at the time of adjustment of the brand must fly exactly on target." So it seems that the aim mark is not stablized when moving the pipper. To effectively use laser guided missiles; - First stabilize the pipper near the target. - Dive toward the target so that the target is near your bore-sight - Fire missile when in range - Make fine corrections to the pipper to get it on target while missile is in flight - Once you are confident that the pipper is exactly on target you can pull up or break before missile impact. the laser will continue pointing at target so long as you are within gimbal limits of laser. You just have to make sure the target is stable with in your sight wile making adjustments of the pipper. It is a shame that we did not get this information earlier from the devs.

@ 4:31 how did you aim the BL-755s?

This has happened to me 2 times after which I've had to re install DCS World. After the first time I just brushed it off as me inadvertently deleting it somehow. After the second time, I was pretty sure something was triggering it to delete. I don't just delete folders off of my start menu. I am the only one that has access to my computer. I'm glad that I am no the only one.

Explosion effects After all this time of seeing screenshots and videos of the new engine, one thing I have not seen is any demo of improved explosion effects and physics. One of the shortcomings of DSC really is the explosions. It is really unsatisfying to see a 2000lb MK 84 have the same explosion animation as a 220lb FAB-100. Even something as simple as a plane crashing leaves only a medium sized bonfire in comparison to the fireballs that are usually seen in real life. Any improvements on this coming up?

So its a 100% back up system? That's hard to believe. Is it just a case of "copying" the Su-27 cockpit and just putting it in the cockpit without the advanced systems because it is available and might as well? So the mig-29 was intentionally made as Su-27 lite?

Whats the point of having a HUD repeater anyway. Seems like a useless piece of equipment to have and take up so much space. I can see a use if the HDD was independent from the HUD so that you can have BVR mode on the HDD and nav mode oh the HUD for example. That is not the case though.

Anyway to use cluster munitions effectively with the Mig-21? Right now I cannot get accurate ranging at a high enough altitude to get a proper dispersion of the bomblets. Anyone have any success with that?

Its not a mig-21 but it is an aircraft from the same era. And you are exactly right that mig-25 did it's thing. It fought using what ever advantages it had and shot down a fighter a generation ahead. It is irrelevant what that F-18 was doing at that time. It was shot down during a real war, with real pilots and with real missiles. No fantasies. The mig-21 too is know for hit and run tactics. It is not inconceivable that it can do the same.

Hi Gents, After my old computer decided it was time for it to die on me i'm now building a new PC for my self. I don't have too much money to spend so I cant get the latest and greatest. I have already purchased the CPU, motherboard and memory just because I had to get something quick for work. I am running on integrated graphics right now but I need to get a new video card for DCS. I am open to suggestions on what to get. What I have now: Intel Core i3 4330 @ 3.5 ghz Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H Socket 1150 Intel H87 Chipset 8gb @ 1600mhz For the video card I am thinking about the GTX 660 or the gtx 750 ti. Are there any better options? It must be no more than $200 and i am kind of trying to stay clear of AMD. Any suggestions?
