  1. While I am very grateful that I will fly the mig-21 sometime in the near future, I am quite saddened at Beszl's departure from the project. I still see him as the founder of the mig-21. It started from his intimate knowledge of the mig-21 in the Hungarian air force did it not? And now with his departure it looks like there will be a shift toward western aircraft. The mig-23 supposed to be up next and now that is up in the air. With out Beszl's expertise in that field would it even be possible? Also, If this was amicable between beszl and the rest of the team why have we not seen him post to give his blessings to the new team? I'm sure if he were to do that it would quell all this talk of money and internal affairs. I hope he says something soon. Should I hold my breath?

  3. A couple of updates ago the external gun sound of the GSh-30-2 was changed. The current sound is very weak. It sounds nothing like what it does in RL. I think its a generic gun sound that existed previously for minor units in the game. Any idea why it was changed or if it will change back?
  4. What the US does not use rocket in the anti tank role is not relevant. What is relevant is that s-8T rocket features a tandem warhead. What purpose does a tandem warhead serve? Against what type of vehicles are tandem warheads useful? The fact that such rockets exist proves that rocket salvos from a su-25 or mi-24 against MBT is an option that would be considered by the Russian/USSR doctrine. I think what some people are arguing is that in order to neutralize a MBT, you dont need total obliteration of the MBT. You need to break an track/damage a barrel/damage the engine etc. All of which will render a MBT combat ineffective. The tank crew might survive but so what?
  5. T-72s now fire kornet missiles. that is for sure new with the latest patch. Before this, they just fires shells. Quite the extra challenge.
  6. OK, so from studying the Ka-50 trimmer system from all the way back when BS1 was released, this is my take on things: For all those people preaching the press and release method of trimming, you are setting up people for bad flying. Press, hold and release is actually more realistic for those with non FFB sticks. The problem is that the press and release method is what is used in an actual Ka-50 with proper control hardware. The biggest problem with trimming in the sim right now and the reason there are so many posts and treads on this topic, is because most people fly using a non FFB stick. With a non FFB stick you have to release the stick in order for it to centre. This procedure usually take about a second or so and in that second, you have absolutely no control over the helicopter. The reason people are getting jumps in pitch after trimming is because of "errors" that accumulate in the autopilot with changes in flight parameters. This is actually normal and is what happens in a real Ka-50. The problem is you cannot correct for them because you are waiting for your stick to recentre. The way a real Ka-50 pilot would do it is by pressing and releasing the trimmer button but since there is no wait for you stick to recentre, the pilot can immediatly correct for "error bump" and press the trimmer again. With each successive press of the trimmer the bumps get smaller until you would have a perfectly trimmed helicopter. The way to do it in the sim is with a technique I havent seen mentioned before. make a coarse correction without pressing the trimmer. When you are done, press AND hold. you should only have to hold it for a second but in that second you still have control and you can correct for the error bump. When the helicopter is stable, release the trimmer. This essentially simulates a real Ka-50 pilot pressing the trimmer 2-3 times to get perfect trim.
  7. Any plans to make treeshadows an option? Right now BS2 has worse performance compared to WH. I am worried that with the next patch, WH performace will decline as well.
  8. I'm using a x-52pro and I don't have any problems with rudder control. I would not call myself an expert pilot of the ka-50 but I do a good enough job to take off, fly to ingress point, attack, and then land. What I find to be really helpful is looking and the controls indicator by pressing ctrl + enter. My greatest difficulty is actually pitch control when trimming.
  9. In BS 1, if you flew with a russian cockpit you get a russian betty and if you flew english cockpit you get english betty. Why was this changed? I fly with the russian cockpit. To have a betty with a horrible russian accent talk to you in english takes away from the authenticity of the Ka-50. Even in the hypothetical scenerio of the Ka-50 being exported to an english speaking county, do you think they would get a woman with a russian accent to do their english betty? Bring back russian betty! Her voice was beautiful :)
  10. I was a bit upset about how BS2 came out but it really is nice and well worth the $20 upgrade. After spending some time with it, I noticed that once a vehicle is destroyed and burning you see little secondary explosions coming from the reck. Awsome!
  11. The landing gear animation on the Ka-50 is bugged. Currently, the landing gear go through the bay doors. I hope it gets fixed soon.
  12. If I may make a suggestion, starting next module ED should stick to just adding aircaraft to whatever dcs world we have now. After a couple of additional aircraft have been completed, then work on a patch that would improve things like map, graphics, ME, AI, etc. That way we will have more things to fly and ED will have more cash flow.
  13. Sorry to quote myself but I hope someone can give some insight into this.
  14. I dont understand something. When ED started working on DCS: WH, did they not build on the work done on BS1? That way when WH was finished, The BS would already be there with The WH.
  15. I have bought BS2 and I am downloading now but I feel like I need to voice my displeasure. This is not what DCS was supposed to be. The modules where supposed to be pieces that would fit together to form one sim with many aircraft. Thats what was advertised when the dcs brand was announced and when WH came out. What we have now is a mish mash that breaks up the community. Like others have asked, will we have BS3, WH2 when the next "module" come out? How about 2 modules down the road? 3,4,5? When I bought BS the first time I was supposed to be able to play online with people flying other planes in the future. So basicly DCS: BS should not even carry the DCS title anymore because it is not part of it. What I think should have been done when creating the "modules" was to work only on the aircraft themselves and leave graphical and ME upgrades alone. Once in a while release patches that dealt with upgrading graphics and the ME. That way we would have had more planes released by now. Sort of like Rise of Flight. It not about the money for me. Like I said, I purchased BS2 already because I like the Ka-50 and I want to support ED. But, the way they went about it was very bad, IMHO. Right now I feel like the DCS brand has basically been abandoned.
  16. what about game performance with rhe new cbu units? I hope I dont get stutters and pauses when these things go off.

  20. As someone that flew lo-mac 1.0 - fc 1.0 entirely with a keyboard, I know exactly what the problem is. From what I remember lo-mac 1.0 did not have this feature and yes it is a feature. It was with the first or second patch (cant remember) of lo-mac that they changed the pitch controls. They changed the keyboard pitch controls so that it behaved essentially like a trimmer. Press down 2 times and you will need to press up 2 times to go back into the neutral position. When this first happened I, like you, got very frustrated with the controls. But with a couple of hours of practice, I got used to it. Trust me, it is actually way better because it gives a lot more precision. Before, the elevators where either on the neutral position or at maximum deflection. When you flew, you looked like the LGBs in DCS:WH flopping up and down all the time. If you don't have a joystick try getting used to it. Or you can revert back to LO-mac 1.0. The keyboard behavior does not affect the joystick behavior at all.
  21. Yeah, I did that. Thanks for the advise but unfortunately I am having problems with my ISP throttling my connection. So my download speed is only maxing out at 80kb/s. Hopefully after midnight I will get a higher rate. Anyone here in the Toronto area using Bell sympatico and dealing with the same problem?
  22. It would be quite helpful if someone let us know what is happening. We were expecting a patch to come out two weeks ago.
  23. You must think in Russian :D
  24. Anybody know why the US pilots use this coded language? There doesnt seem to be an equivalent language for russian pilots. for example us pilots say "fox 1, 2 or 3" when lauching a missile. russian pilots simply say " launching rocket"
  25. I have shot down quite a few aam. All of them by accident. Usually this happens when I am trying to launch at the opp fighter. Just as I fire off my missile, an incoming missile would cause my missile to proxy detonate right in front of my face. Usually I escape unscathed from the incident. I have a track saved up somewhere. Will post it later. Edit: track added If two missiles, by chance, end up passing each other at very close distance would the proximity fuses detonate in real life? missile shoot down.trk
