Hi, often we train from the ship. On our own training server we have a complete carrier group to practice all kinds of scenarios. The last campaign that we did was land based but that's more of an exception than that it's the rule. We're navy so we like the sea #FlyNavy

null The 416th squadron of Virtual Airforce is currently open for new pilots (and RIO's). We fly both the F/A-18C Hornet as the F-14B Tomcat. Although we're a mil-sim (light) squadron and we take naval aviation simulation very seriously we also like to have fun while doing it. If you're an experienced pilot (or RIO) and you are willing to commit to our squadron we're very happy to take you for an introductionary flight to show your skills. What can you expect from us: a dedicated group that takes naval simulation in DCS-world seriously. We are a group of enthousiastic people who have a passion for (military) aviation. Twice a week all our squadrons train (tuesday and thursday) at 19.45 Z. VAF is recruiting Who are we? VAF is a Mil-Sim “light” group. This means that we take our missions and training serious but with a smile. We’re a group for people first, our meetings are relaxed but all about flying in DCS with procedures that touch on real SOP’s as used by different air forces around the world. Founded by Deephack and dotChuckles, well known from Youtube instructional videos for multiple DCS modules, we fly mainly in the time line of 1990’s to 2010’s. What to expect? A relaxed mil sim environment where we provide support, training, missions, campaigns and even sometimes competitions.Within the different squads there are always people willing to help out with questions and problems that you might run into. What do we offer? We run dedicated servers with missions that provide ample training opportunities accessible at times chosen by you. Often members are online to fly together or answer questions. Besides self training we provide training during our flight nights; Tuesday and Thursday evening from 19.45Z. During these times also missions and campaigns will be organized multiple times per year. What do we expect from you? At minimum a basic knowledge of your chosen airframe. You know how to start up, fly, land, deliver basic weapons. There are always members willing to help you one on one with any problems that you run into. Together with you we will expand and form this knowledge into a way that you can successfully fly in complex multiplayer missions. Prepare for self-learning of well-documented features of your airframe. Besides self learning there will be training organized by all squadrons during the weekly flight nights. You’ll have to successfully pass qualification check rides designed to keep the standard within the VAF high. This way we can assure a positive experience for all our pilots. A mature group where we primarily focus on scenarios within different time sets (1980s-2010+) for 3rd & 4th-generation aircraft. VAF is predominantly operating on the Syria and Persian Gulf maps for our combat operations and Nevada and Syria for our training scenarios. As new maps come online we will look to expand our operations. What do we offer? A relaxed milsim environment where we provide support, training, missions, campaigns and competitions. We have our dedicated servers based in London and operate in the GMT timezone but have members all over the globe. We run dedicated training and flight nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 1945 UK time. Note that during the periods when British Summer Time is observed, the start time is 1945 BST, i.e. 1845Z, otherwise 1945Z. Training and missions run for about 2-2.5 hours generally. With our dedicated servers up 24/7 this allows for flying outside of set hours to complete training and flying with other squad mates. We offer a bespoke online platform to track flights and training, as well as interactions inside our discord and platform to sculpt missions and realism. What do we ask from you? Prepare for some element of self-learning for well-documented features of your airframe. Achieve and maintain a competent level of flying discipline to participate in set missions. Follow our online rules to keep VAF an enjoyable experience for everyone. Currently recruiting 4 x F16 Pilots (2 SQN) 3 x Harrier Pilots (3 SQN) 2 x F18 Pilots (VFA 416) 1 x F4 Phantom (6 SQN) 8 x Rotor (7 SQN) 1 x Mission Maker Introducing 6 Squadron will be the VAFs newest squadron flying the F4 Phantom. Hurry as slots are nearly filled and training has started. 7 Squadron will also be a new formation of existing squadrons. It is an auxiliary squadron and it will house all rotor aircraft but will be split into different flights. We are starting to train for the Kiowa and CH47 using the UH-60L mod. Apache and Hind aircraft have existing structures and are also looking for pilots. Our carrier air wing is looking to add F14’s to the fleet and as such are looking for leaders to define SOP’s and stand up a new squadron. The DCS community has lost a great man. With the passing of "Sparton" we are all a little less rich. Flying his beloved A-10 and tinkering in the attic with his astounding sim pit, was such a joy for him after a long and distinguished career in the Royal Air Force. He was laid to rest today with full military honours. This is our tribute to him. A kind, thoughtful and patient man. Someone who had endless capacity to teach and abundant enthusiasm for new entrants into DCS. We will all miss him deeply. Fly safe Norman.
