  1. vsync shows "true" in options file so I guess its on already ETA: I used nVidia control panel to turn on vsync for Launcher.exe and now problem #2 is solved. Still can't figure out the cockpit rail magnification issue........
  2. Hi all, Just got a new acer 23" 1920x1080 monitor. I am having two issues: 1) when I look straight ahead the cockpit windscreen rails are magnified so that it looks like I have metal blinders on....as soon as I move my head they go to normal size..see screen shot. 2) as I am moving my head around, the view gets blocky like the screen is struggling to keep up with new views....no game stutter, but a slight resolution stutter. any ideas?
  3. not sure why but this made me laugh for quite some time .... thanks!
  4. I'll just add my voice to the re-install from scratch crowd. With updating .6 to .7 I had alot of stutters and freezes. I downloaded the 1.1.0.7 stand alone and uninstalled the original after backing up joystick profiles. After a fresh install of .7 I am stutter free....load times the same if not just a bit shorter. Awesome work guys!
  5. thanks guys. Did an RTFM but needed it put in simple terms.
  6. I thought I had cbu's mastered until I installed new patch and now I get no ccip dashed or solid line below 6000 feet. Anyone else see this? Edit..I found a mention in passing of something to do with DTS but don't know what that is so will research. Thanks.
  7. many have downloaded Wags profile that he made available....you can search for it. I am using it and notice it be a bit smoother than default.
  8. corporate pilot for last five years..airline pilot for 10 years before that. About 9500 hours. 5 type ratings . Like you guys I've been into flight sims since 1987.
  9. how do you assign radio comms? I have a tanker orbiting off shore I want to refuel from but don't know how to establish communication freq's. Thanks
  10. yeah, I think you're right about the rockets....I actually saw the hole they left behind... Still can't figure out the VASI glow issue.
  11. After installing and setting up I noticed a few things....I tried to take screenshots but didn't work... The first is the PAPI/VASI lights glow like a huge fire from miles away when flying...only on short final do they calm down to "normal" brightness. The second I noticed is when I fire rockets they dissapear into the ground instead of showing an explosion effect. Any ideas would be great. Everything else looks great. Thanks
  12. Thank you headspace for the reply. I hope I didn't sidetrack a great thread.
  13. Headspace what I want to know is why you seem to experience ZERO FPS drop when you active the maverick seeker. I have what I consider to be a pretty powerfull pc and everything is smooth until I select the mav and its now slideshow time. I know there are threads on this.............how are you not seeing this?? my pc: win xp 4gigs ram Athlon PHenom II x4 955 Black Edition eVga Nvidia GTX 460 OC version 1gig
  14. Well I know its been said a billion times but for what its worth........don't think what you see in A10 as it stands represents the final product... With that in mind you would have a great system with those specs. I have this: AMD phenom II x4 955 Black Edition eVGA Nvidia 460 GTX OC 1g 4 gigs of ram Win xp With beta 2 my system would stutter alot around the airport and towns. With beta 3 it runs smooth as silk with everything set on high....I love beta 3.....but I know it is NOT the final product so I don't get all bent around the axle about performance right now.
  15. most people.....pc simmers.....don't realize this very thing. I spent over 7 years as an instructor pilot at an airline teaching in Level D (most realistic) simulators. These sims always cost more than the actual aircraft and yet they still can only come so close to the real thing. If I had a penny for everytime I have said, "This isn't how the actual airplane works/feels" or had an aircrew turn around and say, "Does the real airplane do this?" I'd be a rich man. When I was big into Falcon4 several years ago, I let a real f-16 pilot fly it on my pc and while he said the systems were really close, the overall flight model and "feel" of the simulator didn't impress him. Of course the falcon community scewered me for bringing that up...
  16. I wonder if my current pc would even run the sim to an acceptable level or if I should hold off until I can afford some updates. AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 5600+ 4 gigs ddr2 ram eVga Nvidia 8800 gt 512meg Win xp sp3 mobo is Biostar TA785GE 128M I don't have high hopes. Thanks
  17. after log in all I get under the "files" tab is: 1)My screenshots 2)My missions 3)My tracks nothing about products or downloads..............any other idea?
  18. I used the starforce "de-registering" tool, recieved a lengthy code, and then unistalled the game. Assuming I could go online and re-download the russian version again from the DCS main site, I didn't back-up the original download I paid for. Well I can't find where to download the game anywhere and am pretty frustrated. Any help suggested?
  19. I bought the russian download version. I would be happy re-downloading but I can't find a link to it.
  20. Hi all. I bought the russian version not long after it came out. About three days ago I needed to reformat my hard-drive and re-install windows xp. I did the de-registration procedure and, although I couldn't understand any of the screens, I got the long code and then moved on. Now that I've got the computer up and running, I have tried to install my downloaded copy of the game but it continues to hang-up right at the 1/2 point on the progress bar. If there is a solution to this I would love to hear it! Thanks.
  21. No aircraft I have flown or have heard of allows cross-bleed or cross-generator starts while airborne (maybe some 4 engine aircraft I'm not familiar with). The bleed loss from the operating engine would be huge and could never be certified or insured that way. It would cause a power loss in the operating engine that would make single-engine operations near impossible. As for cross-gen starts, because you have lost the generator powered by the dead engine, you are already putting a heavy load on the remaining generator. By trying to add a start cycle you would greatly overload the operating generator and cause it to fail or at least be taken off line by the GCU. In apu powered aircraft, you always start the apu during an engine failure and use it for its generator source and bleed air for the engine relight attempt. For non-apu powered aircraft, you only are allowed to use the main battery for the engine restart attempt.
  22. Just FYI guys, but in Vietnam and other conflicts, where situations allowed, crew chiefs were mostly responsible for aircraft pre-flight and start-up. The pilots came right from mission briefing to a running aircraft ready to go. So its not totally unrealistic
  23. No offense but I always get a kick out of your type of posts. I have been in the computer based aircraft sim world since 1989. If it was produced and sold, I have owned and played it. From the worst to the best. I am amazed that there are always people who complain about this switch not working or that system not modeled and picking over minutia. This is not FSX. It is a combat simulator. Why don't you spend endless hours of your own time and create a mod to add your desired level of detail and then offer it to the community? Let me also call you out on this "real pilot" thing. I myself am a 15+ year professional pilot with both airline and corporate experience. One of my jobs for the last 8 years has been to instruct pilots in 2 different aircraft using multi-million dollar full motion Level D simulators. Engineers spend years attempting to build "as real as it gets" full motion simulators that ALWAYS cost more than the actual aircraft they are simulating. They are marvels of the computer and engineering community and their one purpose is to create a simulator that is identical in operation as the real aircraft but guess what? NONE of them do it yet. They are really close....the best I have seen come within 98% of the real aircraft, but there is always something that is different from the real thing. 100% fidelity in simulation is possible but is always restricted by money, time, military secrets, or other outside issues.
