I hope this gains traction. Great idea.

Found this pic while looking for close up shots of the A-10's canopy. Check out the guy with the blue DCS t-shirt chatting up the pilots. Way to represent!

SweetFX 1.5.1: Nvidia card Compatable!
gear_monkey replied to Rise Tragedy's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
just downloaded and installed this. want to make sure its working... I extracted and placed contents of SweetFX bin folder into DCS World bin folder. When I open game, I see the split screen effect on all the menu screens but when I get into cockpit, its not visible. Does that mean its not installed correctly? Thanks -
A-10 cockpit mod idea/request
gear_monkey replied to gear_monkey's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
No, I'm very aware of the reflection between frame and glass. I'm talking about the physical markings visible along the border between glass and frame as a result of age, wear and tear, repairs, etc. -
I don't know any back story on this so what I say next is pure speculation..... Looks like that's a target practice range and the guy blacked out from the heavy g right turn and just descends into the ground.

Something like this would add a lot of realism for me as every aircraft I have flown and now fly has this type of visible haze or "border" between the cockpit glass and metal frame. I would love to see this in the DCS A-10C

iControl DCS (Another iPad pit)
gear_monkey replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
thanks for the reply...I figured it out!! I had to combine the edits your Virtual Server makes to the lua file with the edits the Easy Monitor Configurator makes. Once combined, it works perfectly! You can disregard the email I sent you with all the pics. Thanks! -
iControl DCS (Another iPad pit)
gear_monkey replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have the Cougar MFD's that I use connected to a second monitor with the mfcd screens exported to them. I would love to use iControl to export the cdu only. Is this possible? I downloaded the free version to my iPad mini and tried to work it out but the mfd's were always black no matter where I put the mfd screens in the server setup. -
I've been with this sim series since the release of Lock-On. I've been a computer flight sim enthusiast since 1987. I am completely burned out of this terrain map! I love the complexity of the A10 but every time I fire it up, I look at the map and yearn (like Kramer) for a new map. Given the prominent roll the Warthog has had in Iraq/Afghanistan, I can't believe we don't have one of those maps to play.

Engine Sound in Cockpit is Missing
gear_monkey replied to Mallard of Death's topic in Bugs and Problems
let me one-up you.....I wish they would stop with aircraft development for just a bit and finish and/or create new terrain. I have been with this sim series since the release of Lock-On....I am BURNED OUT of this terrain. Sorry for topic hijack. -
hmmm..interesting the person editing the video felt the need to speed up the play back speed during the take-off roll to make the airplane seem faster...
-
say what you want, but right now I am so sick of the terrain in DCS I struggle to strap in and fly with it....I love the complexity of the A-10C but won't spend another penny until they develop and release new terrain. I don't know why it bothers me so much but it sure does. I'm having fun flying the FSX OV-10 Bronco and PMDG 737ngx. In many ways, those smoke what DCS can do right now (yes, minus the combat aspect).

its hard to pay for scenery when there is so much great free stuff like blueskyscenery. But I don't do much if any virtual flying outside the US so I'm biased.

I totally agree Strut. I downloaded Warthunder on a whim. When I jumped into the cockpit and took off, the very first thought that came to my mine was, "wow, this sucker has awesome graphics....why in world can't DCS learn from this!?!"

looks good. I wonder if it handles single engine like the real deal...

Upgrading and from AMD to Intel
gear_monkey replied to Kaiza's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just did this very thing. Upgraded from an AMD 985BE to a i7 3770K. No comparison. I had the AMD overclocked to 4.0ghz and the i7 is running the same. WAY faster...I wish I hadn't waited so long. To the point, however, I installed the new cpu and motherboard and did not reformat hard-drive or reinstall windows. All I had to do was re-activate my windows serial number and delete old drivers. Very easy. -
not sure I understand your question...are you asking what function each position of the nav switch performs?
-
FSX has some real potential and value for me. The problem is the attention to the behind the scenes details you have to devote to it to bring out the truley spectacular graphics and performance. I use FSX exclusively for PMDG 737 NGX. I discovered it while getting my real type rating in a Boeing 737-800. The flight model and systems detail is so real to life that I use it all the time to keep myself current in FMS, MCP, checklist flows, and RNP approaches. I haven't tried the VRS Superbug but FSX has really been useful for me. DCS A-10C is where the fun is.

a thread about civilian or otherwise..

that is the world's best text book example of dutch roll in a swept wing aircraft. -
howdy. I am about to pull the trigger on a butt kicker purchase. Just want to hear how well is does or doesn't work for A-10C. thanks!
