Has there ever been a theater of operations where the A10 operated without complete air superiority already established? That's an honest question. I take your point, however, that, while playing DCS, we get lazy and do things that would mean mission failure or destruction in real life. For me, when playing a computer based sim, I am missing MULTIPLE elements that real life military pilots rely on before they ever step into the cockpit. Because I don't have these things, I use what I do have, F10 Map screen, etc. Plus, trying to find targets in a pixel world ain't the same as real steel flying.

Sounds are too low in A-10C, what's wrong with my computer?
gear_monkey replied to Ramstein's topic in Bugs and Problems
While a cool video, that microphone is not recording ambient cockpit noise. It has been tied into the audio system of the avionics. What little ambient noise can be heard is being picked up by the crew's microphones. -
Hi all, With the latest updates, the gain associated with chaff and flare release seems to have been cranked up. I am getting a strong kick from my buttkicker when I pop chaff and flare. I am trying to located these sound files so that I turn down the gain, but am having no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

exporting all to 2nd monitor in dcs world < help >
gear_monkey replied to HOP_TRIZZ's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The easiest options I have used are: 1) Easy monitor configurer, a great app that does the work for you 2) Helios. This also exports all the cockpit data to a second monitor. You still have to manually export the mfd's. You can run #1 in conjunction to solve that. Both solutions have multiple page threads on this site. -
For the life of me, I cannot get past the tremendous visual distraction of the distorted cockpit frame. It's like looking through a metal tunnel. That effect kills this module for me.

yep...add me to the list. As soon as I "touched" the volume knob..ctd

Russian Air Force Photos and Video (NO DISCUSSION)

haha...still good video. I can't count the times I've parked in those exact spots over the years when I flew for Atlantic Southeast Airlines. -
Button for rudder trim bias reset
gear_monkey replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Rudder trim isn't used for take off or landings. I've never flown an A10 but have lots of time in several commercial airframes. When both engines are operating, rudder trim is only used to "center the ball" on the inclinometer. Yaw dampers are what maintains coordinated flight in turns etc, in jet aircraft. Especially those with swept wings. When I flew the Brasilia, a twin engine turbo prop, we used rudder trim all the time because power changes resulted in aerodynamic changes. Hence any change to the power settings required an immediate rudder trim adjustment to stay coordinated. In turbojet aircraft, this doesn't really apply. The only time you use rudder trim in large amounts is single-engine operations. Also, remember trim is only used to relieve control input pressures, not to do the work for you. -

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
gear_monkey replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'm confused. I have the latest DCS world stuff and it worked great for me. Very big difference. Great to hear from you again btw. -
I think those have to do with how close/far away from the object you have to be for the sound to be heard and/or fade out
-
1) Find the actual sound file you want to work with under the SOUNDS folder in Eagle Dynamics. Remember its name then: 2) go to the "sdef" folder under the SOUNDS folder. This folder contains exact copies of the sounds but with the .sdef file name. Find the EXACT sound file you were looking at in step one and open its .sdef twin with Notepad++ 3) Look for the "Gain" value. Increase this number, save and test out in-game. Keep adjusting the gain value until you are happy. I have recently installed a buttkicker and followed these steps to increase the intensity of various sounds to get more vibration during the game. It works very well.

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck

This is definitely not incorporated. The idea that is was is what made me put this mod on the back burner. There is a tremendous difference. -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
gear_monkey replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Holy smokes!!! Why did I put this mod off for so long?!? I can confirm two things: 1) the latest stock DCS version does not have this fixed. 2) THIS MOD IS FANTASTIC! it truly makes an amazing difference. I will never fly without this. If you have not tried this mod and think it doesn't change much....please try it..very easy to install and it does as much to improve immersion as does TrackIR itself. Well done!! -

Just notice my warthog's right throttle has a slight wiggle to it when it's in the cut off position. I can giggle it around a bit. One I place it in the idle position, it's more solid but still has a slight looseness to it. Anyone else have this issue?

Enhanced Reflection Glass
gear_monkey replied to T. Jacob's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
That update looks fantastic! Thank you. -
Hi all, need help. I want to get into tactile feedback and have tried ordering a Buttkicker Gamer 2 but they are out of stock everywhere I look. I have heard of people making their own out of Aura Bass Shakers and similar. My problem is I don't know what kind of amp to get and how I would hook that up to my PC and then have control over the device. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm in Texas for any international folks.

Enhanced Reflection Glass
gear_monkey replied to T. Jacob's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Great work...this is getting close to what I have been wanting to do to make the A10c's canopy glass more immersive. I flew with you mod for a few minutes and love the idea but the two reflections I have circled were really visually distracting and was wondering if they could be toned down? Thanks again for the great work. -
