  1. Ah, i didn't understand that from your last post.. I tried flying backwards, and it is possible. I can't get airspeed readouts at all, however, i would estimate that somewhere between 50 and 100 the chopper becomes a bit unstable in yaw, and at over 100, it can just snap about 150-200 degrees in yaw.
  2. It just keeps on going....
  3. It does give some positive vertical speed, about 2-3m/s at 50kph..
  4. I'd really like to compare to DCS.. if you can give me some examples of what to try out, i can give you what i got in FSX.. maybe you can then tell me what you have in DCS? :D
  5. Looking forward to that! :)
  6. Indeed, my decision.. I wouldn't probably bother with the alphasim version either had i chance to fly DCS.. but for now.. :)
  7. Makes me a newbie..:( After all these years :(
  8. Well, at least i'm going to try to learn how to fly a helo. I'm not expecting it to be anywhere near the ED version, but still it's the only decent Ka-50 that will be available sooner than later.. i'm wouldn't bet ED releasing DCS in next 2 weeks or so. And we'll at least be able to somewhat familiarize in what can be done with a helo in terms of flying as a group, and how visual arena is affected.. And i'm sure you as a Beta Tester know very well that flying a helo isn't exactly a piece of cake. :) I ask why not? I spend more money on a friday night out than what either the alphasim ka-50 or DCS will eventually cost.. So why should i not get it? I'll be flying ka-50 with my squad before DCS will finally be released.. even if it's not exactly 100% realistic, it still is Ka-50, and the only one worth flying until DCS. And when it comes to not a single one harcore flight simulator enthutiast should not get it.. I guess same would go for LO, as the avionics are rather simplified :) In the end it's just a matter of what people want to do.. i'll be flying the Ka-50 with my mates before we get our hands on DCS.. we aren't that lucky to be able to fly it in DCS just yet ;)
  9. Lockon missiles or real life AMRAAM's ? :D
  10. In visual range i don't see how it can be problematic to track the target, this time the F-22. If it's in visual range, then you can already see it, no need for a radar or EOS to track it, just get the tone and fox 2. The problem is how to get to weapons employment parameters, before the other guy in the F-22 will be able to do that.
  11. Eh.. i think the Mi-28 will need the Havok engine a lot! :D
  12. AIM-9X is LOAL capable. And when it comes to using the Mike, Sidewinder uses LAU-141/A Trapeze launcher in the F-22 which will extend the missile out of the bay prior to launch to allow the seeker to acquire the target. Of course same applies with the 9X too, it will extend the missile out of the bay prior to the launch.
  13. RedTiger, i couldn't agree more with your points! With good mission planning, and especially with a good group of people, you can have a realistic experience of what it is flying in combat environment. Sure, the AI has it's fault of being predictable, but the more events and stuff you have going on in a mission, the harder it is to predict what the AI is going to do. And to get even more fun out of it, get someone to fly and train with you, as you'll probably notice in some time, the AI wingman isn't really the brightest guy around..:)
  14. Did this just turn into "my aircraft is worse than yours" thread? GTengineer, you should probably check Ironhand's site, it has a whole lot of very informative training videos to start with. :) http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/index.html
  15. New chopper pics!! Come on, post some from your collections!
  16. We are slowly moving towards Helos, as we've pretty much had our share of the current flyables of LO:FC. We'll be concentrating on learning how to operate helo's as much as we can with at least FSX, which most of our members have. When DCS is finally released, we'll dive into it 100%. :)
  17. That's just so wrong, having that "ED Testers Team" text below your forum nick.. I want to have the same Ka-50 you have! :D
  18. Looks like a nice holiday! :D
  19. Add MaxFPS = X; to the last line on your graphics.cfg, where the X is your desired FPS limit
  20. There are too few generous guys with enough bucks to keep a developer company, nor any other business active with just donations.. Nor it should, imo. As others have said, buying the work of the producers should be enough to keep them alive, and if not.. the product/advertisement/distribution wasn't good enough! And seeing how ED is going with the DCS series.. i highly doubt they will be in need of donations to keep going on! :)
  21. Considering that DCS series will consist of different modules, and the previously implemented aircraft (from ED) will stay in the sim, i would guess that 3rd party mods will need only little tweaking to fit in the future modules. At least i think it would be quite a lot of work for ED too to change the format of the aircraft models they've already created each time a new module comes out..
  22. Those systems are still pretty much classified, thus it would be impossible to model them without having lots of guesswork involved. Same reason as for why there won't be F-22 etc :)
  23. OMG! I've heard some stories before, but this is something i completely new!
  24. Then you make a Cobra, if you are at the correct speed. That's the only effect of it. :)
