It might behoove you to actually read who is writing what. You've mistaken me for someone else.

Interesting, so now you're saying that you didn't say what you said because of the language barrier, and that what I wrote in response to you was mean, all the while changing what you're saying (tone and all), while playing the victim. Listen, I'm not going to play this game with you. If you don't understand what I wrote or how it applies, that's fine but it's your problem. If you are hurt by what I wrote, then you have skin that's just about as thick as a grape and would be well served to toughen up. If you can't take the heat then stay out of the kitchen as they say. Back to the OP, I doubt anything substantial will come of the 27 module unfortunately. At least not for a LONG time. The flight models as far as I can tell have never been good for the FC3 aircraft. I guess the 25 is supposed to have a beefed up flight model, but I don't really know what that means and am suspect of how "realistic" it is. I don't think they will even get that close with the other modules...probably just some tweaks. I hope I'm wrong though.

Thanks for the pic, it's good to know. That being said your follow on commentary proves my point exactly. I'm reading here that you know a lot about the SU-27 manuals/systems...correct me if I'm wrong. Are you a SU-27 pilot? Spent any time pulling G's? If you have let us know...if not, then what you "think" happens doesn't really matter because as has been stated before your guess is as good as anyone else's. I'm not saying that to poke your eye or anything, I'm saying it because their is a gap in the operational side of the house in this thread. That's not in itself a bad thing...pilots know flying a lot better than the ins and outs of systems, and engineers the opposite. However, you need to realize that there is a difference between what goes on paper and what happens in the real world. Operating that switch, for example, is a VERY simple thing to do according to you. Flipping it off before a fight...sure very easy. Turning it off whilst pulling Gs...it becomes harder. Doing that while your life is on the line...even harder. See how there are three very similar toggle switches right next to that AoA limiter? Do you think pilots are perfect? Think that under all that stress and violent movements in the cockpit a pilot could possible flip the wrong switch? The answer is yes in case you don't know. Do a little research on how real life humans deal with the rigors of air to air combat. Look up terms like "helmet fire" and "tunnel vision" or "target fixation." You think it's implausible that a pilot faced with, let's say, two options might choose the wrong in that split second he has to make it? How many training hours do they get these days? How much of that amount are they dedicating to dogfighting? ...not all of it! And even experienced pilots make mistakes. And then there's the part about the switch in the first place. I'm not familiar with Russian training, tips, or tactics on how to operate the 27, so who knows, maybe turning it off before a brawl is common, but I doubt it. WHY is there an AoA limiter in the first place? Because it's something that can get you in trouble (dead) a heck of a lot more than it can save you. Highly maneuverable airframes are by definition more unstable. Do some crazy stuff in a 172 and the plane will practically fly itself out of it. Do it in an aerobatic plane and there are fifty different ways you can put yourself in an unrecoverable situation. That's the price you pay for that extra maneuverability...and the reason for things like AoA limiters. And then there are other aspects of flight powered in jet engines like the possibility of compressor stall. Engines don't like it when the relative air is going the wrong direction...Can these engines do it? Obviously yes but there is still the risk of crapping an engine. Do you want to plan on doing that in a life or death dogfight? And compressor stall is just one aspect...what about g limitations on the missile systems themselves...etc etc. By your statements it is clear you don't understand what happens in the cockpit when flying an airplane like this. Assumptions you're making about the ease of flying and the infallibility of pilots are no doubt based off of fighter pilot propaganda and playing simulations like DCS. Not trying to rag on anyone, just trying to get people to look at the usefulness of maneuvers like the cobra in a different light.

I'm not so sure about that. Who is more deadly? The man that has one rifle and knows how to use it or the man that has 20 but never shoots them? Having more capability can distract and confuse and lead people to put themselves in bad situations because they dedicated themselves to the lesser of 2 options they had in the heat of battle. It can be beneficial, but its not as simple as that. Is it that simple? Where is the AoA limiter? Is it a switch on the front panel? Is it a circuit breaker you have to pull? Have you ever tried glancing down, finding and actuating a specific toggle switch whilst flying a precision maneuver when your life is on the line all at 9G? Doing things in the cockpit starts to become a challenge around the 5G mark for me. That's why they have HOTAS. I don't mean to rag on anyone, but I think the operational side of the house needs to be shown in this thread. A lot of good technical/engineering but in most responses there are assumptions that just don't fly (pardon the pun) in the real world with your butt in the seat.

Anyone seen gun camera footage of the cobra being used to success in combat? Surely it's out there if it's as useful as some claim it is. It would be great propaganda for the country of origin right? Anyone seen video of people training on how to fight against the cobra maneuver? Surely you would need to do so against such a potent threat... ...the cobra is a talking point, not a training point. Anything that's a last ditch effort is by definition not what you want to plan on using. You might as well pop the canopy and throw your piddle pack at your attacker.

No offense meant, but your example is ridiculous. If you snuck up on an airplane from below, simply pull back on the stick, point and fire. There is no reason to waste all your energy in a maneuver like that. Apologies for going off topic here, but I see comments like these about tactics and such all the time and this was just the one that broke the camel's back. Most of the time the comments are from people who are: Not fighter pilots. Nore are they military pilots. And usually not even pilots at all. I would love a study sim level of the Su-27 myself...it's a great airplane. Clear skies...rant over.

When your radial velocity to the enemy radar is zero yeah...but that lasts for all of 1 second. Pretty useless maneuver...speed is life....bleeding off all your airspeed in a dogfight is the exact opposite of what you want to do. Every airframe has it's own speed that is ideal for creating the minimum turn radius...stall speed is never that airspeed. Wrong sorry...any airframe with thrust vectoring will have an advantage against one that doesn't in a turning fight.

Invalid Serial Number Multiplayer Login 1.2.5
johnv2pt0 replied to johnv2pt0's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Thanks Panzertard, this fixed me right up! -
After patching, I'm getting an Invalid Serial Number error when logging into the master server. Upon further inspecting I noticed 3 of my serial keys were missing when I went into the module manager (BS2, FC3, and UH-1). I've tried doing a repair. I deleted the keys for those 3 modules from my registry, and then used the activation dialog in the single player to enter them again. All of my modules are under the same DCS website profile. Anyone know what's going on here? Thanks ~

Right, but I'm just looking for a practical "in my case" 1 tv yields xx FPS, 3 tv yields xx FPS. I understand that the subject is very complex and dependent on all sorts of variables like you say. One can't really make a decision to invest in a triple monitor setup based on a "well it depends" answer though. For me, I prefer higher frame rates over more detail. Especially in DCS where the terrain is pretty lacking anyway. That being said, a more immersive 3 screen layout is very appealing if those frame rates don't suffer too much. Thanks for the links too, good information for me to chew on.

Looks good. I like PVC as well. How do the 3 tvs affect your frame rates?

How do I mount my HOTAS Warthog to my chair?
johnv2pt0 replied to GodsPrototype's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you don't mind putting a few holes in you keyboard tray/desk you can do what i did and mount it to that. That way it's not awkward getting in and out of the chair, plus it is quick detachable for when you're not flying. If you are interested in going this way, let me know and I can provide more details and pictures of my setup. Edit: all done with pvc pipe...very easy. -
I have one on order so I will definitely check that out. Thanks for making me spend more money :)

Ok thanks. I think I'm going to pick one up. Whichever is better will earn it's place betwixt my MFCDs...the other shall be sold!

I was referring to the genovation keypad actually. That quote is from it's description, but I'd like to know exactly how tactile it is. For the xkeys, there is no tactile sensation or button click which I think is a downside. If the genovation is better I may just replace the xkeys keypad.

XK-24 Programmable Keypad
johnv2pt0 replied to johnv2pt0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm sure that will work great. Speaking for myself, I went with a keypad like the xkey or genovation because it integrates better into a sim pit. You can mount it and such...replicate a UFC. I would guess that's why most people go with this type. Also, you get a few more keys. Let us know how it works out for you ~ -
Can you describe how well the "Momentary contact with tactile sound" aspect works? Thanks ~

XK-24 Programmable Keypad
johnv2pt0 replied to johnv2pt0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the response, I actually just figured out what was going on. Bad usb hub. It was causing some really strange things. I switched to a different powered hub and things are starting to look up. I'm finalizing my programming now, but it seems to be working. Thanks ~ -
X-Keys Professional as UFC, partial CDU and more
johnv2pt0 replied to GregP's topic in Home Cockpits
Did you have any issues getting the xkeys to work with DCS? I am trying to set one up but it's interfering with other controllers in the options. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1779186#post1779186 -

I just picked one of these up and really like it. However, it's interfering with my other controllers in DCS. After programming and installing the keypad, my other devices bindings are highlight red. Has anyone run into this and can you give a little advice on how to correct it? Also, here is a template for the button labels I created for the A-10 UFC. Feel free to use/mod. Saitek X65F vs Thrustmaster Warthog? Pros VS Cons
johnv2pt0 replied to thinkr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I chose Warthog and am extremely happy with it. People seem to think your switches on the warthog are somehow only useable within DCS A10. That is completely false. It's a programmable hotas just like any other. Also, you don't have to take apart the stick and re grease it. A few people have had some issues with the stick feeling like it was sticking, but they are a small minority. I haven't had issues at all with mine. Also, as a RL air force pilot, I can tell you that sticks in planes are always a little different. Some will even feel "sticky." It's a reality of mechanical design so you just have to deal with it. I won't repeat what has already been said about the warthog, but something I haven't seen anyone talk about is mounting for simpits and such. It's very easy to mount the warthog between the legs because of the small footprint of the base. I don't think you can remove the x65 from it's large rectangular base. Just something to think about. I'm sure the x65 is a great stick, but for me the Warthog is the clear winner. -

Disable Su-25T Shkval in cockpit?
johnv2pt0 replied to johnv2pt0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's where I started. Works great for all aircraft except for the 25T. Must be hard coded or something? I've made that change manually, and I've also used ICEMAKER's great program, but nothing seems to work. Thanks though.
