  1. After reading the many posts from simmers that have already purchased FC 1.1, I'm very happy that I decided to wait a few weeks before I make my purchase. What I'm reading is just unbelievable and really sad. A week ago many were worked into a frenzy over the delay, now it seems many are getting worked into a frenzy over starforce related issues. ED, you have a great, great product, but its being schrouded, and overshadowed by the issues with starforce. And, now when I talk to someone about flaming cliffs, guess what topic comes to the surface ........ STARFORCE RELATED PROBLEMS. I think Starforce is becoming the kiss of death for a lot of developers and I wish ED had decided against employing it. #1. its not preventing illegal distribution or use [every game with it is cracked] #2. the many problems experienced with SF is making paying customers lean towards the illegal patched versions as a solution. #3. DEVs that are using SF, are losing potential sales, because nobody wants hidden SF drivers nesting in their system, causing problems with legally purchased titles. Therefore, potential cust. are opting for alternative solutions for aquiring the software titles. If I were a developer or game publisher, I would never use anything similar to SF, because the minute its put out there, all the crackers\hackers are going to go after it, to become the first to crack the newest protection scheme. So, you lose potential customers who hate the protection scheme, you spend, waste & lose money on a protection scheme that doesn't work. You also in the process, irritate the hell out of your paying customers with activations, drive incompatabilities, and other maladies associated with its use. I just can't see the rational ....... Are the SF sales reps that good at their job. Because they are selling snake-oil if ever someone was. ***Just a thought from a dedicated simmer and LOMAC user.***
  2. Stormin, I really don't know why you even post a reply to these type of posts. Clearly, they're not worth the time and effort.

  4. I believe a lot of people here, have some ... err, a lot of growing up to do. However you guys justify your rants to ED, it all boils down to being spoiled rotten. Getting what you want, when you want it, and then complaining like hell when a few bugs appear. {Total Madness} I really think, you guys should be complaining to your Child Psycholigist. For not treating your mental condition before you got this out of control.
  5. To the impatient ones waiting for this release [FC1.1] in the U.S. Please stop behaving like tantrum throwing, out of control spoiled little kids. I've read some of the recent posts regarding the expected release date and one would swear, some of you guys don't have a life at all. I wish I could read russian well, I would go over there just to distance myself from some of you. So, if you can't at the very least control yourself, just don't post and do some of the sensible ones here a favor. I'm certain that FC 1.1 will be out when it is ready, and if you don't understand the complexities of releasing a major sim. Then, please don't show and demonstrate full-time your ignorance. There, My RANT is complete.
  6. I doubt it as well D-Scythe, But I would guess it was more P.R. than fact. They had to justify that $4.5 billion price tag that was attached to the F16I. P.S. Oh, and Quirk!, I hope you didn't take my response the wrong way ... its not an angry response ..... :~)
  7. That is a work of art. {WellDone} I hope I can get my hands on it in time for FC1.1
  8. Who said anything about the skin ????????????????????????? I don't give a damn about the skin, or what country flies it. The Israeli version was redesigned with several improvements over older versions of the F-16. General Dynamics F-16I Fighting Falcon (Sufa) "The F-16I will be equipped with both U.S. and Israeli made weapons. The F-16I, with its expanded radius of operation, can reach as far away as Iran and Libya without refueling. Its 23,600-kilogram takeoff weight means that it has a greater capacity for weaponry than conventional F-16s. The F-16I will be the first F-16 in the Israeli arsenal armed with the AMRAAM air-to-air missile, given it the ability to shoot down other jets within 50 kilometers. Its radar, the Northrop Grumman APG-68, is also more advanced than any other in the IAF fleet. The F-16I is also equipped with the Synthetic Aperture Radar system and Litening navigation pod, which gives the F-16I all-weather, day and night attack capabilities. It also has internally mounted FLIR (forward looking infrared) viewers and state-of-the-art systems hardware from Lahav - a division of Israel Aircraft Industries. The technology from Lahav allows simultaneous and multi-target engagement and increased survivability. The "Sufa" also contains side fuel tanks, which allow for increased weapons capabilities underwing. A two-seater, an advanced weapons specialist can sit behind the pilot." 9. I've always been a big fan of the F-16 ..... I really like the Israeli version
  10. Witchking, are you taking any wagers. SC:CT, came out this week and I'm willing to bet, it will be on t0rrent sites by the end of the month. I'm glad I don't make a living in the game industry or any other software dev. company. Asia, Russia, Germany, UK, USA, it doesn't matter what country you're in, its a HUGE, HUGE problem. And, sadly, its only going to get worst.
  11. I've gotta let ED and all the rest of you know that: THERE IS NO PROTECTION SYSTEM THAT WORKS NOW OR EVER WILL. Case in point: Silent Hunter III was just released {03.15.05} with the latest Starforce {STARFAKE as it should be called} version of protection ......... IT IS CRACKED AND FLOATING AROUND THE WWW NOW!!!!!!! The only people reporting problems with the so-called protection scheme are the one's who actually brought it. Paying customers = Headachs Illegal users = No Problems So, to ED and other publishers who spend thousands on protection schemes ..... Save your money, its NOT WORKING.

  13. Yeah, that's really sad that this so-called company gets away with this type of behavior\crap. And, even more sad that people who use it don't and won't wake up and realize that they are constantly being ripped off. And even worst, all that personal data that is submitted to paypal is suspect to be compromised by even the most newbie hacker. They don't even have to tell you that their database has been hacked, according to the laws of the land. Is it really getting this easy to rip people off nowadays ??????
  14. Sure condor11, I'll tell you a little more. By the way a lot of people experienced this withholding of funds and paypal recently loss in court and had to pay back a huge sum of money to all the claimants. I was selling comp. parts on ebay and had a good amount of money in a paypal account, my rating was excellent and this account had been in use for almost 6 months{6 Months}. All of a sudden, they froze my account and my funds. Claiming that they needed more personal information about me. They also, stated that when they receive this information. a determination will be made as to when my money will be released. I contacted the BBB, the Internet federal crimes unit and hired a lawyer and immediately went after paypal. I told them that they had all the information I was going to provide to them, and if the provided info. was lacking, then it should have been addressed long before a full six months had expired. When they received my lawyer's papers and realized that I was one consumer that wasn't going to put up with that crap. They immediately released my funds. But, a federal investigation continued into the dealings of paypal, and eventually they were ordered to refund and release all the accounts that they had frozen by them. But, here's the kicker, while all that money was frozen in paypal accounts, they were collecting interest. So, if paypal is the only way to purchase this release, then I will not be buying it, because paypal and its parent company "SUCKS" for the lack of a more appropiate term.
  15. I sincerely hope MC & Visa will be accepted. I'm anti-Paypal, ever since they froze my money in their bank for one month. They ran scared and demonstrated just how shady they were, when I started legal action against them. I will never use paypal again, and users should think twice before you do.
  16. Thanks for the replies, I think I've gotten used to the non-clickable pit. In F4 it was great to have. But I can't actually say that I miss it. The biggest thing that I wish lomac had is a dynamic campaign generator. {another topic, another time} And night vision, again {another topic, another time}. As for the helicopter addon, that would be outstanding. :) and I look forward to it. The reason I asked this question was because it seems like the US based devs. and publishers are not going to ever release a flight-sim like F4 again. So, ED and foreign companies are the hope of the future. And it seem to be in very capable hands.
  17. Thanks for adding that valuable bit of information .... My biggest problem with SF and many other companies implementation of software protection today, is that it relies on access to the internet for activation and it has central storage of the collected information. NO internet access = NO verification = NO you can't use the software you purchased legally. Another huge issue is allowing the SF company access to information on my PC and storing that info on central servers. In this age of security breeches and loss of privacy, I'm not about to let another company store registration information about me just to activate a game. I think that's a bit toooo much to ask. With the risks involved, its just not worth it. Is SF and its affiliates going to assume responsibility if their security dartabase is compromised???? I think NOT. Also, in terms of longevity. In the future, I don't want to be seen tossing my cds out a window, just because I can't validate and use them, because SF and its affiliates don't support it any longer or I dont have internet access. Therefore, I think cd protection is the way to go, and the risks of illegal distribution is minimal ........... this isn't going to be a HALO3, where the masses are trying to get their hands on it. Its a flight sim, and only a select few will go out of their way to get it. And believe it or not many if not all true flight simmers are happy to buy this sim.
  18. firstly ........... thanks for expanding and taking LOMAC to the next level. :) Here's my Q's: Can we as users look forward to more inclusions and expansions ?? What\who dictates airplane selection for inclusion and expansions ?? Thanks :D
  19. Paying customer suffered ... illegal user, no problems First timer here on this forum, :) I wonder if I can chime in for a minute here. Over the last year or so, I've seen several attempts to curb criminal distribution of software titles. And throughout this period, the criminals seem to overcome the new protection scheme every time and continue to distribute, more so than before. And in the end the paying cust. ends up suffering and the illegal users seem to be chugging along without issue. Case in point: I purchased CBT nuggets [Techie Training] and the cbt's employ an internet based validation, in order for you to use the software & or view the videos. Well while I was home it wasn't an issue .... But when I had to leave town with my laptop, I grabbed my training cd's, hopped on the plane and reached my destination. Got to the hotel room [NO INTERNET] I couldn't validate my cources and was unable to use something I paid good money for. Needless to say I was FURIOUS. When I finally got home, I told a friend about my ordeal and he said that he had an illegal copy and it didn't need validation. :o I REALLY NEEDED TO HEAR THIS, AFTER PAYING $300 BUCKS AND GETTING ON THE ROAD AND COULDN'T EVEN USE THE DAMN CBT course. *My point: Paying customer suffered ......... illegal user, no problems So, I think this should be addressed carefully, especially since there is no protection out yet that hasn't been undermined. And the paying cust. always seem to suffer the most in the end, while the illegally aquired product is working without a hitch.
