Why, isn't there a LOMAC based community format established for shared custom missions\campaigns ?? I as well as others, use a lot of peoples custom missions {And this is a great thing}. But, I get somewhat frustated when I come across a really kool mission originally made for a SU-33 and its classified. So, it can't be converted to use a SU27, or a MIG or anything else. Look, if a really great mission\campaign is created and someone wants to convert it to use a mig29 as an example .... why wouldn't anyone want that?? Some people don't like the SU27 or the SU33, I know its hard to believe, but its true. So, why not allow others to mod your mission\campaign to satisfy the mig lovers, or the SU25 lovers??? Nowadays, the first thing everyone wants to know, is if the game is moddable. Because everyone is different and everyone has something to add. Skins are shared and are not classified ..probally because you can't classify textures ... lol!! .... And its apparently ok for others to modify it and re-share it. {or course, giving credit, where it is due} I don't think anyone in the community is that much of a sleeze to re-share your work and pass it off as their own. As long as credit is given to the original maker, all shared missions\campaigns should be de-classified and allowed to be modified and re-shared. As a sharing community of flight simmers, presently using a proggy i.e. {lomac} that doesn't have a dynamic campaign, and probally won't ever. {it would have been great if the FC 1.1 add-on included an early beta of a dynamic campaign} So, it is overwhelmingly evident that we need all the variety we can get, because it doesn't seem to be any plans on the drawing board to expand lomac's capabilities, other than patches and aircraft additions. So, why do everyone feel a need to classify their missions\campaigns, when, no one thinks twice about sharing skin\cockpit\tile modifications ... etc... So, I recommend a universal community format for missions & campaigns. So, that we all can benefit from variety and diversity. Suggestions: 1. all missions\campaigns are to be shared as de-classified. 2. any modifications to an established mission\campaign, must be pre-approved and credit given to the original designer. 3. all briefing's should follow a format that is concise and well defined. 4. all shared work, should be thoroughly tested for bugs and other maladies that prevent it from running smoothly. *** Just a thought ***

I want to change my downloaded Fc1.1 to CD version!!
arraamis replied to kiamia's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
"Patience is a virtue" I've alway heard that and in this case it is true. I decided to wait out the madness till the dust cleared, but some had to be the first on the block to have FC 1.1 So, you're the first to have it and unless you want to pay another $35+, you're stuck with what you purchased. [if starforce will let you, why don't you burn it to a CD]. LOL!!! Some of you guys are giving new meaning to the term "Buyers Remorse" You made your decision, you paid for it and got what you paid for, story's over. NO REFUND & NO NEW CD FOR YOUR TROUBLES. -
I was in agreement with your post JG27_Arklight .... i.e. "Why is this thread still open?" I just added a few thoughts about why I believe, no one should continue to post rants & raves about the decision ED made in regard to SF. If anyone doesn't like their [ED's] decision ..... Don't buy it. "PERIOD" No need to let everyone here know whether you will buy it or not and or why you made the decision. ............... Just do what you're going to do & move on.
-
Believe me, I'm as anti-starforce as anyone. But at some point you just have to let your wallet do your talking and leave it at that. No need to rant and rave non-stop. Or, do you have a compeling need to be heard by someone. Forums aren't for that ...... M.D's are there for that. So, where is this going ???

Good luck ED, you are our only hope!
arraamis replied to Mizzy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
unfortnately, a lot of so-called flight sim developers, haven't learned that you cannot skimp during dev. Its all or nothing, either you're going to commit to the full process or just stay out of the market. Look at the past year of fake helo and fake flight sims that have come and gone. After jane's series and falcon4, very few have even come close to the standards set by those guys. ED is definately a dev of flight sims [nothing fake about what these guys are developing]. ED has become a worthy successor to the throne and it was lomac that had me finally put Falcon4 to rest. The rest are just attempting to cash in on the market. With fighter ops ...... I would like to see actual ingame shots. I can create a few screenies with X-Plane 8.10 right now. So, I haven't really seen any thing concrete from them. And I'm not willing to pay to see progress reports, so I will just have to wait and see just how serious they are. So for me its all [iC Maddox, X-Plane & ED] for flight sims. After these three .......................... we'll have to see. -

arraamis replied to DayGlow's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Either I'm going blind [from tooo many hours in the virtual sky :~) ] or I just totally missed where it states in any post what NaturalPoint is going to sell this cd for. Pilotasso, you typed about 29 characters .... how much more difficult would it had been to type in the price, since I've missed it totally ????? -
NaturalPoint is going to sell English CD version
arraamis replied to DayGlow's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
1. Is there an established price for the CD version?? 2. What type of Shipping will be available within the US?? Thanks -
I hope more sim devs. get involved with selling directly to its customers. Think of the savings that could hopefully be passed on to the consumer. Of course, this was bumpy, because paypal & starforce were involved. Without these detracting elements .... this, ED's first effort to sell directly, would have ran smooth as silk. And they would have reconized the profit potential immediately. ..... but with SF and paypal's cut, along with the potential lost sales from the users that hate SF and hate paypal ... these two elements ruined a potentially successful campaign. So, I hope this is a sign of things to come, more & more simulation-based devs. dealing directly with its customers. I just hope that in the future, the devs spend a little more time listening to the buyers of their products, thereby avoiding a lot of headaches and angry posts.

IMHO ..... it just wasn't a good decision at all. Micro$oft sells enough software to feed every third world country on the earth for several years. And they don't\won't even consider using anything like starforce. ED's sim development dept. only caters to a select few hardcore simmers & they have chosen to employ starforce. ED will lose a lot of sales because of its decision, and thats just plain sad, because again, ED's sim development dept. only caters to a few hardcore simmers. And in this type of situation, every sale really counts.

FX55 single card or 3800+ SLI???
arraamis replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If you use higher resolutions [1280x1024 +] go with the ATI 850XT, All the benchmarks show that it outperforms the 6800 ultra .... only under these conditions. Below 1280x1024 resolution ..... 6800 ultra can't be touched. Do a search on google and look at the benchmarks. you'll see for yourself. -
FX55 single card or 3800+ SLI???
arraamis replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
firesoldier845, don't invest in SLI untill it matures and the price of deployment decreases. The gains you receive at the moment is marginal at best. So, do what I did and get the best nforce4 board out there [DFI, MSI, etc..] and either get a 6800 ultra or an XT 850XT, with the FX-55 {GREAT CHIP}. The simulation i.e. {LOMAC} test results speak for themselves, none of them will take advantage of SLI. Plus, only nvidia based games will run in SLI mode correctly. So, save your money and take your girl out to dinner. If you really want to save money, get a athlon 64 4000+, only difference is that it is locked [only matters if you OC] and the 4000+ doesn't use strained silicon. other than that it is the same chip as the FX-55, but sells for $550.00 -
Anti-Starforce I've said this all along, but no one seems to listen until its too late. I'm all for supporting ED, and I would gladly buy their products, any day, anytime. But, their use of starforce is ultimately going to affect my decision, and that's sad because I really want to support ED and all their future developments. So, in the case of SF, I'm rooting for the bad guys .... and you know exactly who I mean.

Starforce acceptance and results
arraamis replied to nearmiss's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I will buy the CD version ... when avail. But, I am definately anti-starforce. *I'm not against companies protecting their products, against illegal distribution. *I'm 100% in favor of supporting ED and any future developments relating to flight sims. *I'm not for illegal software distribution of any kind. *I am strongly against, utilizing protection methods that have the potential to damage expensive computer equiptment in the process. And, I am against any software company installing hidden, disguised drivers on my system that have the potential of tracking what is done on my privately owned equiptment. *Starforce has crossed the line bigtime and I support their &$*%!@. -
ALFA ..... Thanks ...... thats what I was looking for. :~)

Backing Up and Restoring the Windows XP Registry. all methods included. http://www.theeldergeek.com/windows_xp_registry.htm

You are correct ALFA.
-
thats good news ........ also, if you backup lomac specific reg. entries and no hardware changes have occurred, you should be able to format the hd. and reapply those reg. entries.
-
thanks I don't want to go through the activation hassles. So, I'd rather wait till the dust settles. This post makes mention that the CD will also be sold by the trackir store. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7431

I searched the UBI forums and found a lot of flanker mods to use the SU-39. But a friend told me there was a mod some time ago where you could fly the SU-39 [which has better performance characteristics than the SU25] While I'm waiting for the CD release of FC 1.1, I figured that I should polish up my skills. Thanks

Running FC on a Network on 2 PCs ??????
arraamis replied to McDaniel's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
This is an issue that has been going on for some time. You just made a purchase [licensed software] that has conditions of use. That is the legal mobojombo that no one ever reads, but we all agree to. Its like a catch-22, in order to use the software you just brought, you have to agree to the terms of usage. Yes, you did buy it, But, you can't, according to the terms, do what you want with it [legally]. -
This may be a true statement, but you have to consider the fact, that flight simmers are passionate about their sims ..... You see how much hell was raised when April 06, 2005 arrived and no flaming cliffs. And if you think something like starforce is going to interfere with these guys using the softwase they purchased, you're crazy. Whether anyone admits it or not ..... they will do whatever they have to do ... period.
