  1. I like to do it that way too, but it just wasn't possible with a movie this long. Had to capture and work on different areas as far apart as 30 minutes or more many times and a lot of the sound editing was left for last. The screenshot was when the movie was about half finished, not only time wise... but a lot more work was done (sound in particular) on the half seen in view. :smilewink:
  2. ...and this is only half of "Smoke On"! Most of the sound editing was completed the last weeks before release, this screenshot was taken several months before completion. :smilewink:
  3. Just wanted to show you guys (at least those of you who are familiar with Sony Vegas) the complexity of the time-grid used in the making of "Smoke On". This screenshot was taken back in early August and roughly covers the first 25 minutes of the movie (half the length of the movie). Every single clip also had its Special FX (effects) and camera panning, cropping and more created individually clip-by-clip. Although none of that can be seen here in view, this picture shows the grand scope of the workspace used during production... ...this was three months prior to release and shows only half of the movie, but it still looks quite "messy". Many additional FX were added late (i.e. more congested workspace than seen here), but it gives you an idea of what the time-grid in Sony Vegas looked like at a point in time during the making of the movie. The grid got a lot more crowded towards the end (and twice as long as seen here)! Bonus FYI: More than 160GB of frap footage was used in the making of the movie! Voila!

  7. Streaming video is being added as we speak at GameTrailers.com and also at www.gamerztheatre.com Another host for the WMV High Definition download version (as well as streaming Flash Video) will be available later this week as well at Patricks Aviation... Thanks for the comments! ...Top Gun, hehe...
  8. There's a streaming wmv version @ 720 x 480, available now at www.gamerztheatre.com You have to register on the site to view the stream, but it's easily done and it's a high quality stream. One or two other streaming versions will be coming out later this week on other sites as well and hopefully one more download mirror for the WMV HD download in addition to that. Jon Tex, thanks for your offer, but are you sure your site will handle the bandwidth nightmare that will follow? I can get you a lower res version shortly that won't kill your bandwidth quite as bad. We're not talking terabytes then, but rather back to gigabytes... :smilewink:
  9. There's a link here that one of our forum users posted with a torrent. Not sure if it's still seeded though?
  10. Thanks for sharing! :smilewink: Btw, I guess you must have a grudge against the IAT?!... hehe! Their #2 pilot in the credits is supposed to be #4 (MidAir) I believe (I could be wrong), but I'm pretty sure #2 Racer is only flying with the Virtual Snowbirds though. :music_whistling: VFAT is definitely worth its share of movies! Great times and great flying by all who participated!
  11. Just a quick FYI regarding HD render and DVDs that I posted in our forums. Read the reply. It still looks quite good, just a heads up though.
  12. Our brand new full length movie, Smoke On is now released!!! (50 minutes, 1.05GB, 1280x720p, WMV HD) Visit this page to download and as you wait for the download read about its permiere, made possible by Thrustmaster, in Las Vegas at Regal Cinemas and view some of the premiere photos taken. Please post your thoughts afterwards! Enjoy the show!!! Direct link to the movie download (hosted by JaBoG32). Mirror: www.gamerztheatre.com © 2005-2006 the Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC. Part of this business organization is our demo team or squad; an elite group of online pilots using the best in home flight simulation hardware and software to fly as realistically as possible via internet networks, flying the same way as the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. This encompasses real world communication protocol used by the Thunderbirds, their maneuver parameters and procedures as well as the atmosphere found in the Thunderbird alumni and their present members. We pride ourselves in our teamwork and work ethic inherited in their spirit and strive to achieve excellence in every aspect of our business, whether it is in the virtual skies or in other ways. The demo team, our main feature and core of this organization, consists of a squad of pilots working together in unison and becoming an extremely cohesive group. Each member spends large amounts of his or her free time dedicated to the endless amounts of hard work necessary within the squad to be able to perform at such high level. While the flying is our mainstay and what we are best known for, it is only part of a bigger picture. Many of the pilots selected for the demo team are real world aviators with thousands of hours of jet experience, both military and civilian; however, this is not a requirement to one day be part of the Virtual Thunderbirds and its demo team. We encourage you to tryout for future openings. Practice, persistence, patience and perfection are words we live by as we cross into the blue in pixels in these beautiful red, white and blue F-16's.
  13. Keep trying! We're looking into more mirrors, but it's hard to find one with enough bandwidth required (we're talking several Terabytes per day initially!). In the mean time try to logon off peak hours to download. Worst time so far has been between 2300 GMT - 0500 GMT (evening hours in North America) and the second worst around 1700 GMT - 2300 GMT (evening hours in Europe). That leaves you with 12 hours that are less demanding on the server, so if that helps at all, try downloading sometime between 0500 GMT - 1700 GMT! Also, if you get an "error" page of 'max user connections' when attempting download, just refresh and continue trying. That only means all nodes are currently occupied. It will be worth the wait (instead of having it posted in really poor quality on Google or Youtube)! :smilewink:

  15. Awesome work GA!!! That is some of the best I've seen from you (i.e. in the entire community)! Some day, you'll have to show me how you set up your contrast and visual FX. Great sound editing too btw, it really brought out the best of each scene! ~S!
  16. There is a bootleg torrent floating around off of the main server (original file). You guys can search for it! Also, we just added a mirror at www.gamerztheatre.com With over 3 Terabytes in downloads under the first 24 hours since release, we're aiming to kill every host we can! :megalol:

  20. I'm sure someone has the comms from TS recorded. Just cracks me up you guys want to use it! ...but at the same time kind of cool. There are plenty of real Thunderbird comms (audio tracks) available for download from our website if someone wants to hear those: www.virtualthunderbirds.com/audio.html We had some issues with timing during the show, but on the other hand we were pretty pleased with how the Delta Roll went. It's one of the toughest maneuvers along with the Line Abreast Breakaway Loop. Just like with any show though, a few things here and there, overall felt pretty good... You just don't ever get that perfect show!:pilotfly:
  21. Screenshots from the Virtual Thunderbird demo at VFAT 2006 performed Saturday, November 18 are up in the image gallery! Go to: http://gallery.virtualthunderbirds.com Click: Main Menu -> Screenshots -> 2006 VFAT Looking forward to seeing more screenies from the other teams/solos! :smilewink: Just watched the track for the 9-ship formations by the Swifts and White Ravens from today. That big formation looked Sierra Hotel! P.S. Only 4 days until our "monster" movie release now...
  22. Been having a tough time getting into the server and watching live, but I've been downloading these tracks as soon as they got out. Very nice job everyone! Pleasure to watch skilled and diciplined hands. Great to see how everyone has improved since a year ago (better netcode, better flying and more evolved teams) and continue to really put on great displays. Keep up the great work guys! Looking forward to seeing the rest of today and discussing the performances afterwards!!! LD P.S. Frazer (White Ravens), your "Slow Roll" while tucked in-between the tail-fins is outta this world! :pilotfly:
  23. Nice to see some screenshots! I wasn't able to attend and watch today due to real life commitments (work). Glad to hear everything went well. Hopefully, we'll see more great stuff tomorrow and not a lag-fest! Keeping my fingers crossed for low latency flying and great displays! LD
  24. Pick me, pick me... :pilotfly: :captain: Oh, wait... I'm not eligible to tryout, am I? :helpsmilie: Good luck to everyone that does tryout though! Show 'em your slick skills! :joystick:
