FFB for sure. It's a game changer, while MFSSB is more of a personal preference thing, or something to get when you want to try to mimic an F-16. But the pilots didn't really seem to like the F-16 stick, and deflection was added for the production model, and increased for the F-22. And the F-35 has a FFB-style joystick where the desired deflection can be programmed in. So it seems to me that if you get the MFSSB, you are getting a dead-end design that was considered so good (/sarc) that it was only used for 1 plane. Of course, if people prefer it, then all power to them, but it doesn't excite me. All the extra possibilities of FFB do excite me.

I'd be surprised if people don't still have major issues until early 2025 getting the base to work with at least some of the promised games. And I expect that feature parity with the Rhino will take a lot longer still.
-
Apparently people have been getting their base: https://old.reddit.com/r/hotas/comments/1f7g7sk/moza_ab9_base_software_issues/ And they are having software issues...

LOL, I hope you enjoy your empty clamp. Seriously though, I don't get why they didn't wait to ship it with the base, which they promised would ship any day now. But perhaps there is another delay.
-
@Nightdare That's not entirely true. There are people who want the new thing first. Preorders cater to them in particular. I'm fine with that, aside from the fact that these people very often have unreasonably high expectations. But I guess that fits with their desire to get the new thing first. @rapid No one asked you to retract anything. I'm not even sure who you are addressing.
-
No, preordering means that you gamble that the company can finish their product in time, that they can deliver on their promises, that they deliver on expectations that you have that they never actually promised, etc, etc. Ultimately, companies tend to treat delivery dates more as targets than hard promises. And you never know what you will actually get, until the product is in the hands of somewhat serious reviewers/customers, who put the product through its paces. The company is never going to honestly tell you the weaknesses of their product. I already warned people here in the past to not preorder unless they were willing to gamble: That said, I'm personally of the opinion that nobody should pre-order this base if they expect any guarantees and are not willing to take a big gamble, since the information provided by Moza is utterly insufficient to be confident that it works well enough to be value for money compared to the Rhino for any use case. You did order before my warning, but there is a reason why you regularly see people warn against preorders. The preorder life is the life of a gambler. This is a pretty weak complaint. If they don't ship those orders before yours, then you have nothing to complain about with regard to them encouraging others to order as well. And those people only have a reason to complain if they don't ship their base in 10 days. We have no idea what their internal logistics are. For all we know, they already have a lot of units ready to go, and are waiting for the software to be good enough before they ship out the hardware.

That's the preorder life.

@Baldrick33 They've already backported the fix to 23H2: https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-confirms-branch-prediction-optimizations-are-now-available-for-windows-11-23h2-boosting-gaming-performance You can find it under optional updates.- 50 replies

They said that they would start shipping the orders that were placed earlier, first, so I have strong doubts that it'll actually be 10 days.
-
Unless we get another delay, they should actually start shipping in September. They didn't specify early/mid/late, or a date, so it's probably the 30th. At that point things should get interesting with the information we get.

@MAXsenna It's pretty typical for event setups to not be optimal for usage. They have other important considerations, like being able to pack things small for travel & being able to build things up and tear them down quickly. Pointing it out can be helpful to noobs who have no idea, but discussing mounting solutions would detract from actually discussing the product itself. And of course, briefly using it using an event is not at all a proper review, which takes days at the very least.

The performance fix for Ryzen is getting backported to the older patch of Windows 11, so you can get it without losing WMR support: https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-confirms-branch-prediction-optimizations-are-now-available-for-windows-11-23h2-boosting-gaming-performance

That seems unlikely, since they had to reduce the 4080 price to $999 for it to sell. Why would they make the same mistake with the 5080? The leaked specs suggest that the production costs for the 5080 will not be higher, so a price increase is not needed. And I don't see how they again give poor price/performance increases like with the 40-series. I think that you are reasoning yourself into the card with the highest depreciation after release of the next gen.

@lolpatrol How does the Monstertech mount hold up with the weight & forces?

Problem on Intel 13th & 14th Gen CPUs.
Aapje replied to Devrim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
@Rammstein The main issue is not contamination, but a design defect, coupled with them pushing the silicon too hard. -
The 4090 is around 30% faster, but obviously, the price difference is more than that. I would personally not get a 4090 right now, unless money is truly no issue, since the depreciation is going to hit you hard early next year when the 5090 comes out.
-
I'm not complaining, but just discussing the statements they make about their products, which seem a bit peculiar at times. But perhaps you suffer from some choice-supportive bias, after ordering from them?
-
'A variety' is very vague, though. Since they don't even make more than one base, it must even include future Moza products or competitor products to deserve the plural.
-
They state: "Perfect for flat surfaces, it pairs seamlessly with suction cups to provide a firm and secure grip on desktops." And the beautiful picture: The plate doesn't necessarily seems to be intended for the FFB base. They show it off with a throttle.
-
It might be for use with a rig. Their marketing is really weird though, as they advertise it primarily for use with suction cups. But aren't the suction cups the worst part of various Winwing products?
-
New table clamp announced specifically for the FFB base: It might work for a side mount: They also have some weird adapter plate that I don't understand the use of: https://mozaracing.com/product/flight-base-mount-adapter

Looking to upgrade GPU, Need your thoughts
Aapje replied to bigcountry's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The best case scenario is that the release drags out so long that they can put 3 GB chips on the 5070, so it will get 18 GB. But I doubt it. -

All of those should work well with DCS at 1440p, from what people have said on this forum. The 4070 Super will have the advantage of it being more common, so it being easier to find guides to tune it. The AMD cards might give you better FPS per dollar/euro/etc, although that depends on your local pricing. -
getting ready to build dcs only pc

Solidigm is a subsidiary/brand from SK Hynix. So it's a top tier memory manufacturer putting their top tier controller in a NVMe. That's why it's so good. And cases are in no small part personal taste. If you get a nice one, you can keep it a long time. I have very good experiences with Fractal and the Torrent is one of the best for airflow, so if you like the looks, size, etc, it's a very good choice. Not the best price/performance, but life is not just about that.
