  1. I was hesitant to put this thread here, but no other forum really does qualify either. Appologies if I should've posted this elsewhere. I'd like to use either Shoot or VAC with BS to control the radio commands and for that I need to a speech recognition engine. Windows Vista has the Microsoft Speech Engine installed, but my OS is of the dutch language and for the speech engine to work you need an english OS. Vista Ultimate has the option to switch languages on the fly, but I am using Home Premium which hasn't got that option. I am sure there are more people without an english OS and so I wonder if there's a way to get the speech recognition going in Vista Home as well or if there's a way to change language. Also, if that's not possible, are there other 3rd party speech engines which can be used with VAC or Shoot and can be installed on Vista Home, regardless of language setting? Thanks very much!
  2. Would you care to elaborate a bit more on the subject, please? Why does the autohover light remains illuminated for example when the aircraft does not stay in auto hover after the FD has been disabled again? Is it because the system is still engaged, but it has lost it reference point for autohover and thus needs to be reset, eventhough the system itself is still engaged (and therefore the light remains illuminated)? Genuinly interested here, not trying to be smart.
  3. Glad the bump was of use right away! ;) Good luck!
  4. have you inquired with Dynabyte? They still have it on their webshop. . . :S
  5. Yeah, otherwise it would have been hilarious and downright filthy! It's always nice to see origins of internet nicknames. Mine is often a tongue breaker for non-dutch speaking individuals.
  6. See? Aren't we all getting cuddly now? :P
  7. Yeah I came across the first link, but the file there opens some kind of download manager at which point I bailed. Too risky. I've not found any reports of SideWindow being used in Vista other than that link, so I suspect it doesn't work... Too bad, I would've loved to use my PDA with TB. Thanks for the header, though.
  8. [mesmerized gaze]Me likey glimmering lights! Looky here, even more nice lights![/mesmerized gaze]
  9. I think this thread can use a little bump by now.
  10. I really don't understand why this issue comes up every time. Have you not come across the registry tweak so you can save your activation info? Besides, even if you would run out of activations because you didn't save the registry info I doubt its nothing a quick email to ED can't fix. You bought the game, there's no need to be afraid it gets taken from you again after a few re-installs. ;) Also to add to the offerings for a new member: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35571 --> Normal Checklist (Emergency and Combat Ops still need to be done)
  11. Twist stick is rather useless anyway in my opinion. 1)The axis for the twist is often way too senstitive to do anything with it. 2)The control range is very limited. I was rather surprised that the X-52 has a twist stick. Luckily you can lock it in place with a handy lock switch. But it still doesn't feel too robust due to the room it leaves for the stick to twist just a tiny bit.
  12. I would definately go for the stick with the most options, yeah. I also think it looks cooler than the flightstick. ;)
  13. Awaiting my upgrade anxiously! :)
  14. Ah now I see what you mean, Feuerfalke, but I think the article shows the relativity of the issue very well, thus supporting my statement of the fact that you can't just say how many frames per second would be ideal for any given game (or other application in general). How the inner workings are regarding fps and the processing of the eye/brain, in fact, I don't know and was not my point to show either. Good point though! ;)
  15. Very much so! Good point. With the amount of money you have to spend in general on your flight gear you should make a well educated decision on what you expect from your gear, what you think is important and what price you're willing to spend. All the info you want about whichever stick/throttle/pedals you fancy is right there at your fingertips once you browse the net for a while.
  16. :D :D Holy crap, that is the worst piece of helo action movie I've ever seen! Z-grade, almost no dialogue and a painful-for-the-ears soundtrack! But funny as heck! Thanks for sharing!
  17. When I look into my Device Management in Windows Configuration screen and I open the Saitek Magic Bus tree and check on all the devices listed there they all show 6.6.2 dated feb 10th 2009. This is in Windows Vista 32bit. Looking for driver updates tells me I already have the latest drivers. Are those X52 Pro drivers only? Or maybe 64bit version?
  18. Has anyone found a way to use SideWindow with Vista? I can install with XP compatibility mode, but when trying to start it tells me that I need ActiveSync v3.x.x.x or later. ActiveSync, in turn, can't be installed on Vista cause there's a similar utility integrated into Vista already. Any thoughts? Maybe an alternative to SideWindow?
  19. :D Isn't that the outcome of the whole article itself? It exactly states the same! ;) [self pat mode]Yay! 100th post![/self pat mode]
  20. Usually you can configure the racing pedals to become on Axis rather than seperate. At least I can with my MOMO Racing. Mind you that pedals in aircraft are 'sliding' instead of 'depressed' like gas pedals in cars. It's a different feel. I would invest in some decent flight pedals first as well. :)
  21. You clearly missed the irony in me reply. ;) I totally agree that RTFM isn't going to win the prize for 'Warmest greeting to a new community member 2009". The point was that is comes from two sides.
  22. That's not entirely true. ;) I found a nice little page to offer some cool reading into the issue. http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm It all depends and as our eyes are not some technical instrument there's no telling how many FPS we can process. It depends on factors and the way we process the data in our brain. :) Interesting isn't it?
  23. Well self-reflection is a virtue as well sometimes. ;) You did say '(...) downloaded off the internet (...)' which triggered my 'piracy alert chromosome' as well, to be honest! ;) If you would have said: "I bought the sim off the website" I don't think he would have come onto you that hard. It's all in the words. Especially on media like forums where you can't look someone in the eye and see his/her expression. You can only judge from text here and that might make things come across other than intended sometimes (that goes in your defense as well, of course). Anyway, bury the tomahawk and go on your merry way asking questions and having fun with the excellent sim! That's what its all about in the end isn't it? You in front of your PC having fun with the sim, is it not? ;)
  24. It's all about the attitude. While I agree the response from our side might have been a little blunt, to say the least, I also think the attitude you're putting up now, Rjennings, is not the way to go either. If there's a dispute, talk about it like the adults we are. I can understand you felt attacked, but more than a few have offered here to just continue asking question and yet you come across now as a little child shouting the whole forum is bad and you've had enough. That will not get you any sympathy and will destroy any you had easily from others.
  25. Important note here. Many PSU's give you a rating of a power output. But with high-end hardware you need to make sure you have a steady rating on all rails. If you're using a weak PSU it can translate to problems you describe with your videocard. I had a Sapphire card once and the forums over there a full of people using inadequate PSU's which cause trouble for the vid card.
