I currently use the X52, which is a nice stick although a bit light in resistance on the stick, but that's personal preference. Also the spacey look (I have the non pro version) and crappy rotary's (for my fingers at least) makes me crave for a replacement at times. The X65F looks like a worthy successor later this year, however I would like to know a bit more about this pressure sensing stuff. Will the whole stick be rigid without any option to enable 'conventional' stick movement? I would find it awkward to push against a stick which doesn't move, but still the game responds... It would be nice to have the option. Does anyone know wether this will be selectable? Also will this stick support force feedback? In this thread it is mentioned a few times, but I seem to miss it in the specs on the Saitek site.. unless of course I have totally read over it. ;)

As a TIR4 user I can confirm the device doesn't eat many resources. FPS, therefore, is not much affected on a good system. It works perfectly fine in BS as well, but indeed; if you don't have a TIR yet, go for v5. :)

Keep on the move, just like a tank crew would on the ground. Only presenting themselves a few moments at one place, back out and go to another. Of course when you're in the air things are a little different, but still you can keep those tactics in mind and let range and position work for you.

It is. Modern engines like the CFM56 (737NG series) function similar. They provide enough suction to keep a positive feed of fuel from the tanks. Fuel pumps are redundant as far as fuelfeed is concerned. They provide means to empty the tanks and they provide enough pressure in the fuel lines for non-normal situations. Crossfeed is normally closed in many fuel configs, however on the 737NG we do have a few situations where we open the X-feed valve; -Emptying the center tank (to prevent imbalance in the wing tanks while scraping the last drops out of the center tank). We do it when the fuel in the center tank is 1000kg or less. -Also, quite logically, to prevent -or fix- and imbalance between the left and right tank. (Think of fuel leak, one engine inoperative, etc).

It works, as in it shuts down? Or 'it works' as in: the engines keep running as designed?

Wouldn't MANPADs be difficult to fire in a forest as well? I don't know how the targeting system works for a MANPAD, but I can imagine that trees will be a major factor. I would assume they need to be in a large clearing or at the edge of woods as well? Can we conclude that in real-life the biggests threats from forests are small-arms and AAA's? That would make a 'high-altitude' sweep a definitely viable action. Just brain storming here. . .

See? :) Three weeks is nothing special to be honest. Anyway, glad you got it! I am very pleased with the checklist and operational part of the manual. Really helps a lot instead of the former 'this button does that' approach without any explanation.

Yeah indeed. You get my point. I didn't know about your first remark, though, but it does sound logical when you stop and think about it for a second or two. Anyway it does show that the current situation in game is not very realistic except for units being at the edge of forests.

How many Black Shark flight hours have you accumulated?

So tell me, how do people pronounce your callsign? Let alone in emergency situations? :megalol: -
Great you got it sorted, asa1997! Though, it would be nice not to establish a problem you have as a bug right away. You probably see now why. A bit of research would have fixed it and besides you could have just asked first without giving it the label as it being a bug. This is why devs get sh*tloads of so-called bug reports. Us humans usually label stuff we don't understand as 'wrong'. Funny isn't it? ;)

Interesting subject brought up here, even apart from the trees-not-covering issue in-game. Its clear to all of us that spotting units inside a forest from a helo in real life is quite a task, but I wonder how easy or difficult it is for units on the ground to shoot a helo from a forest. If you're in a clearing, for example, pilot would still be having difficulties spotting you until he is close by the clearing and can see over the treetops into the clearing (when he does make contact with the units on the ground depends on his altitude and distance). However, the unit in the clearing in the forest already has a good cue (by sound) where the helo is coming from. Giving him an initiative advantage to ready his weapons and aim in the general direction the helo is coming from. I can imagine in this situation the ground units have the advantage by: a) better cover b) initiative by sound I am not saying that the game models this. Not at all, but to ease the pain a bit I tend to think of it like this when I am looking for targets in forests. I do agree though that the sim would benefit hugely from a different logic concerning spotting and trees, because units tend to be able to shoot right through trees at shallow angles as well.

More anticipation results in more fun! You'll get yours, hang in there!;)

Oh that's not nice, but there's one thing that might delay your package quite a bit: customs. I had a package trapped there for about 6 weeks once before I got it. Mine arrived after about 5 days from TFC. No tracking either. I am impressed with the manual! I like the layout and format, pages feel nice, eventhough the paper is very thin. It has a sturdy hardcover and the extra information is well presented and fun to read! Well done, guys. If the plan is to have such a hardcopy manual for every module to come I'll be sure to order them all!

I am in Holland and ordered the manual via The Fighter Collection (you need to browse a bit on their site because it isn't too obvious where to get it, but they DO have it) and got a message yesterday that it has been shipped. I ordered it two days ago, so it seems like a rapid transaction so far.

Ok, I'll stop hi-jacking this thread. ;) I am sorry that I can't be of any help, coder. -

hi there! Forgive me, but what exactly is cachya? Is it a piece of hardware or is it a software thingy? -
Aren't military 'VOR's called TACANS?

Abris damaged - how to navigate back to airport?

LOL of whole different sorts, I might add. ;) Never look at the intricate details of beautiful women with depth of field anymore. Those DD toys suddenly don't look so enormous anymore. -
Space is vacuum. An airplane would handle the same as any other object as far as I know, it being a fork, a vase, a car or an elephant. Ok, well maybe not the elephant because the organic body would explode. yuck.

That's why it is going to be changed in the patch. It doesn't function correctly. Don't get too comfy using this technique. ;) It's going to be different again after the patch.

Whoops I misread the post; You actually said: "Make sure NO waypoint is selected (...)" I missed the 'no' part. :P Thanks for the header, EtherealN

If you look at your harddisk, Skypat, I am sure if you open the casing it will show a hole in the disk where the data of BS game mode once was.

I've had a profile gone awkward in BS as well. It seems like the beta SST program still has its flaws. For example if you just change the key input of an existing mapping without first deleting it, the profile will become corrupt and won't work like it should anymore in BS. If you have a doubt about your old profile, I'd say first write out your new profile on paper first, then program it in the SST in one go and save the profile. I did this and have a working profile in BS once again. Also the advanced macro tip given above is your friend. Normal keypresses sometimes don't filter well into the game. Reason? Unkown.

Thanks! I guess I still need some practise then. :P
