New Tutorial: Su-25T Visual Landing
Coffee999 replied to Ironhand's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
IRONHAND, is there anyway to convert all of your training tracks into mpeg or other so we can play them all independantly from LO? Thanks for all you do :-) Coffee -
I'm glad they are working hard to get BS out the door. I'm also glad when they take the time to put out new info, screenshots, and demo movies. I Thinks it's time well spent.

Not sure if ED could do this but...
Coffee999 replied to Sleek's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
This is already possible kind of. If you add a few flyables in the mission you should be able to jump into those planes. You can also recover into a mission if you aren't recording a track. Don't know if this works for all missions and all Campaigns though. -
OT: F/A-22 vs. well everything else
Coffee999 replied to DaveRindner's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I saw a program on the F22 on Discovery channel where the F22 went up against 5 or more F15' in a mock battle. In the end all F15 are shot down, and none even seen the F22. So that leads me to beleive that engaging radar doesn't nessesarily give they're position away. All F15 pilots hadno idea where the F22 was at any time. All the pilots were vets. Now granted this was a mock battle, but I have to beleive it was set up as close to a real battle as possible. -
I have 2 sticks of DDR2 SDRAM AT 667MHZ-2X512MB,DIM,X. I want to add more mem. Should I add 2 more sticks of 512, or can I add 2 sticks of 1 gig. I know you have to put in pairs, and this would be, but it would be 2X512, and 2X1024. Or should I stick with 2X512? The stick will be identical to each other except for the size. Same maker, same speed, same everything. I have a new computer and only want to upgrade this once in the next 5 years. Thanks

FPS....considering each setting.
Coffee999 replied to Coffee999's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
OK, understood all so far. But I would think that regardless of your hardware, each setting change would change the FPS only so much. I would think this would be somewhat consistent. For instance: Regardless of your hardware, you start out with the benchmark of the in game setting of X. If you change that setting to X+2, that will change your frames =/-Xframes. I understand that card setting would have to be a constant too. But the bench mark would state what the GF setting would be. However, What I was going for was a meter within the LO UI that would give you an indication of what to expect FPS wise within the game only. You can go from there depending on what you choose to set the graphics card configuration. And if this meter is intuitive, it would detect what hardware you have, and factor that in. Everyone can start out with the same setting, increase or decrease setting as you do it, as see what frame hit you may or may not take. I would think that considering your hardware, each setting change would take X amount of frames away on average. Every one of us has messed with the setting to get everything to run good. If you have a clue what your frames might be with an in game meter, you will get up faster and with less frustration. -
Is there a chart out there that indicates what each setting would eat up in FPS for each setting? For instance: Let's say we have a base line of Low settings by default, anything that deviates from that, would give you a +/- FPS. Whether it is resolution, or any other setting. I think it would help greatly, if the game can determine your hardware, and have a counter of want frames you might expect with the current settings. It would be hard to take the action of the flight into consideration, because no one would know that but while you are flying. But something to this affect could save a lot of time if we had a counter that could set a base line and go from there. Later.

You have to read the manual. I'm a manual reader. Doesn't matter what it is. If I buy something new, and it comes with a manual, I will read it. More than once. Read a little in bed before falling asleep. A week of that and you will have read that monster. Every time I read it, maybe 4 times now, I take away more and more informatin I can use.

A quick question about v1.12...
Coffee999 replied to Jason76's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Evil, I understand you don't use the track system, but many do. The training tracks are PART of the training process along with reading the manual. Don't confuse wanting to play the training tracks with not reading the manual. They are BOTH part of the learning process. -

Coffee999 replied to Jason76's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Even though I agree with most, I don't agree that it should be a third party that fixes and makes training tracks work. It should be ED. They broke it. Please fix it. -

VapoR you are right. The tracks have always been porked in one way or another. The track system in not that stable. I still think they should take the time and fix and/or improve this. Maybe the next patch will pork the summer season terrain. All well, if we want to fly in the summer we can spend the time to roll back everything, and not make use of FC that I just bought during training. Listen, I love this Sim. Never bad mouth it. But I believe the core of the game should work. There are a lot of things that aren't right with the code, AI for instance. I take it in stride and make the best of things. But to break the training with a patch and put a bandaid on it and not come back to fix it isn't right. I bought this sim when it first came out. I still want to use the training system. I still need to :-) But I want to use it all FC'ed up and patched up to get the most out of it. I won't beat a dead horse though. I've said my peace. -

Coffee999 replied to Jason76's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
"IT takes too much time". For some reason I don't like that response. Listen, Everything takes time. The training tracks were broke with a patch. I think the time should be taken to fix these. I understand that "fluff" things can't be done because to time contraints, but an important part of the learning process was broke after the last patch. This sim is hard enough to learn for the new guy coming in. And don't make it difficult for him by saying they worked in 1.02. Just uninstall the patch to play them. That's too much dinking around on the consumers part. -
TrackIR 4 Ships today.
Coffee999 replied to GoGamer.com - Jason's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Jason, a question I noticed the new clip design. Does this mean that a clip that doesn't curve around the bill of the cap works better than one that does? Would the new clip work better for the pro3vector -
How would you like both Rooks? I have a Tir1 that is just sitting here. I will sell it very cheap to give you a chance to see how you like Tir, while allowing you to buy a stick too. If anyone is interested contact me here: scotsue@comcast.net I will let it go for $30.00US Plus shipping. Later

What if you already have Vector. Is there an option to just buy the pro4 model?
-
That may be the problem. Once you are line up and have the right glide when using the ILS, you don't "follow" it with the stick. You constantly adjust speed to keep the correct glide till touch down.

OT: question regarding Shoot speech
Coffee999 replied to Coffee999's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
No it is not read only. -
I'm trying to get it set up and it seems to be working ok. A few questions though; 1. How do I change a profile so that the mike is always open, and I don't have to use a key stroke? If I read right, changing the initial state to "on" does this, but when I open the xml file, I can't edit it. 2. Is the "/" key a good one to use if I do use a key command to initiate Shoot operations? I noticed it is the default for most profiles. 3. I have the first version of Game Commander. Would this work better than the latest Shoot? And if so, does anyone have a profile that will work for V1 of GC? Thanks all. PS Just found out Game Commander version 1.0 isn't supported with XP, so installing 1.0 won't happen. But what about the newest version. Any good?

Let me see if I understand this thread. 1.11 finally comes out, with good MP improvments, and at the same time they take away the ability for the server to dictate terms and keep everything on the same playing field? Does this mean then for example that even though the server restricts lables, someone joining can change it? If this is the case, this is very bad.

Yep. I get the same thing.

Considering the release is slated for 6 months down the road, I would hope that a few short movies would be forth coming. I remember waiting for LO to be released and loving the teasers ED put out. Thanks Coffee

Is a Dynamic Campaign really needed?
Coffee999 replied to Weta43's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well, some don't care about a DC. Others won't buy it without. I have it and it's the only sim I fly currently. I love it. But here's the thing: LO would be sooooo much better if I could load up the game, pic a campaign, and go. I won't know what's about to come my way. It may be a simple mission or not. Now currently, if you've had LO for a long time, you have probably played most of the mission by now. And probably most of the ones you can get online. It does take some doing to keep it fresh. Online is great, but most don't for many reasons. The bottom line is with a DC, things will NEVER get stale. There will always be new challenges with a click. -

I must admit, I didn't read your entire post. But to answer your question. A DC would insure that LO lives a very long life. In addition, a DC combined with a clickable cockpit, and you would have a great start to make sure LO lives as long as F4. F4 may never die. Mostly because of the DC though. Coffee -
Come on..........Post some of those screen shots already. :-)
